I loved Supergrass in the 90's (this song was probably their best and not even released in the 90's). But, I love nothing these days. Even 'underground', it's just recycled garbage from the 90's or before.
@MxMagpie the whole CD was great. (oh.. "CompactDiscs" are how we used to get our music before decent audio compression and faster internet came onto the scene)
I don't listen to brit pop anymore but this album is still dope. Actually, their sound is very close to that of white stripes and all the groups that copycated their lo-fi sound later (Franz Ferdinand...).
@twattybollock the 'grass were definitely the best i ever saw live. richard iii was almost religious! by your age i'm guessing it was 80s queen? by then they were middle-aged, and more pop than rock. 70s queen would be hard to beat though...very hard!
I think this is one of Supergrass's best songs. It's seriously probably the last great Brit-pop tune. Soon after this we had all The Streets, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party bullshit, that all tend to enjoy the fragrant of donkeys balls.
innit funny how people speak to others via type in a way that if they were to say it to the other persons face, they would cower with their tails between their legs. anyhoos supergrass, yes fantastic they get my vote. just one question. are they still going? be nice people.
You seem a tad upset about something, superspymarco.I wonder what you see when you look in the mirror and even more curious to know which hole you breathe out of,you impudent, pompous, ignorant, conceited f***ing twat.
They were TOO INTELLIGENT for your average beer-swilling OAF. Music these days is crap and garbage because the majority of the consumer public are musical shit-for-brains, tin ear, no taste, shallow, looks based on the video, mouth-breathers.
This is the musical equivalent of having 64 crayons in the box. Not 3 !!
@superspymarco yep I hear dat. A great band particularly the drummer no ALL of them. I know Supergrass were influenced by epic bands like The Beach Boys but who else?
Supergrass proves that great bands can't make it big anymore. This band 35 years ago would've been famous. Nobody cares about songs with a bridge, and an intelligent hook. Is it any wonder why the current music industry is trash? They don't take the same risks as they did in the '60s/early 70's. It's all based on formula. Yet they still lose money due to bad product.
@strangeones4 If Supergrass had been around today they WOULD've made it big. Because a career in music these days is no longer depending on A&R managers, but on the internet! Spread your music around the globe through MySpace, YouTube or what other platform gets you heard and seen, and become a star so big that record companies come BEGGIN' for you to sign. This happened to Arctic Monkeys, Esmée Denters, Lily Allen and a slew of others. This is the beauty of the digital age.
@GLOatYT Fleet Foxes!!! You're right, when "In It For the Money" was released, a band such as Fleet Foxes never had a chance. The fact that Supergrass had to open for the Arctic Monkeys just makes me more frustrated. SG was original, yet familiar in how they paid respect to glam rock, and the 60's british bands. They were the UK version of Big Star, with a modern sound.
I'm sure everyone has learnt about the split by now and as I have listened to and loved Supergrass for the 13 years I've been alive I am making a tribute video.
Mi amigo de lo que te has perdido estos años, desde 95 estan haciendo excelentes discos, buenos clásicos, unos cambios geniales en sus ritmos y métricas de las rolas. Empezaron desde muy jovenes y pues Ingleses tenian que ser jeje, checa el SUPERGRASS, IN IT FOR THE MONEY, ROAD TO ROUEN, LIFE IN OTHER PLANET Y EL DIAMON HOO HA MAN, todos a mi parecer excelentes, en fin disfruta esta músicaaaaaa!!!!
