  • I will elect you the president of china!

  • Dear chiika....she is more than trilingual....she's french, she speaks english, chinese, japanese, and i bet because she is so linguistic, she can do many more. for french to learn italian, spanish, etc, it would be so easy too. very accurate diction ..... basically what we see is one very pretty girl with a very very very intelligent linguistically-smart brain :) WOW

  • I'm so impressed that you pretty much grabbed the essence of spoken Chinese. I'm also a Chinese (Cantonese/Madarin), Japanese and English speaker and I'm so jealous that you speak as many language as I do (and did you mention you're French?). You're so talented, so keep learning...

  • ur pretty fluent just work on ur accent^^

foreigners tend to "bite" on the words too hard

  • you're so adorable learning languages!im fluent in both english and chinese,if you ever need help!

  • Wow, you are quite the linguist!

  • oh my god i love your japanese..........tho im not one....but im teaching my self......i wish i would be as good as yuh......

  • Wow ur japanese is amazing. Learn chinese its easier than japanese.

  • The four tone is hard is for most foreigner, one you master the four tone, the rest is easy.

The best part of chinese is to assemble the chinese character together to form new words and sentences.

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!! 5/5!!!

  • A Japanese introduction, wow

  • you are really tallentd...... wow

  • I respect anyone who is intelligent and is open-minded, be they white, black, yellow, purple or red.

  • I don't think all Chinese people hate black people. I have Chinese penpals that were kind of skeptical of me knowing Chinese (I'm black), but they thought it was awesome that I was interested in Chinese culture.

  • hi im japanese but you are trillingal! you can speak japanese fluently also Chinese! I'm proud of you. thanks for uploading, good luck=)

  • Something important to keep in mind is that racism is in EVERY culture. Unfortunately, it's usually based on ignorance or the unability to want to accept others. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video, I know I did!

  • hmm, okay, it's not letting me link it. just type in "black guy singing a chinese mandarin song" in youtube. lol it's worth watching i think.

    加油 Luv2sprouse! 加油!!

  • This man is incredibly respected by all of the Chinese people listening to him sing an old traditional song. He seems so confident and I love his style. I hope it somehow gives you some sort of inspiration.

  • Okey thanks for the tip! I am going to watch it now

  • i'm so jealous of your ability to make connections and association like that!!!seriously perfect pronunciation(regardless of the four tones)~so impressed and sort of speechless in a way-can't believe anyone can do that! so not fair for us who have to pay so much effort on learning just one language other than our own...and you really used your ability greatly=D felt happy already just to see someone could learn different languages so easily. and thanks for sharing with us!!

  • you are awsome! :)

i speak cantonese by the way,

your pronunciation of 1-10 was right!

  • vous parlez japonaise bien

  • I was just like you... I loved mandarin, I listened to chinese songs and stuff and I really loved China. I still do, dont get me wrong... I even decided to visit China. But then I heard that chinese peoples really hate black people. That they are really racist against black people. I read it, and it even came on the news. That made me really sad because I am black and I would love to visit China. But I dont know anymore :( That made me so disapointed... Anyway I just wanted to say that.

    Xie Xie

  • Hey sorry to hear that you have this perception, I guess racism will always exist in one form or another but don't let that hinder you in understanding new cultures and languages. I'm chinese myself and I certainly do not hate black people :-)

  • Yeah you are right... I should not let racism stop me from understanding new cultures.. But I heard sooo bad things about China. That they really treat black people really bad. And that made me a little sad... But thank you for caring :) Do you live in china?

  • I do not live in China cos I'm attending uni in London, but I'm ethnically Chinese. Yes some Chinese people can be racist in a curious way - over-deferrence to white people, condescension to non-white, non-chinese people for example. I guess that's the sad reality of our times, but understand that that can change, change which begins first within ourselves. Learning the language is a great start - most Chinese will like you instantly when they hear you speak Mandarin :)

  • I really hope so.... I really do! Hehe and by the way I have the biggest crush on an chinese guy in our school haha! And I think that he likes me too! Haha dont know why i said that... xD

  • My sister is pretty much fluent in Chinese, and we're black. She was in China for a full year last year in Beijing and LOVED IT. I went to China with her last year and i LOVED IT. One Chinese guy even told my sister (who interpreted for me) how beautiful he thought I was. So don't worry- Chinese people don't hate black people. The culture, the history, the food, the everything is amazing.

Actually, if you're American you will have nothing to worry about as there is far more racism in America.

  • Yeah but I think that you guys were lucky.. Maybe that area was'nt racist... But I am actually not american. I live in Sweden. But anyway I hope that I can visit China sometime. And I would rather visit a area that doesnt have any racism. Were did you guys lived?

  • you don't have to visit China to experience the culture. Just visit Vancouver , Canada and you will certainly be welcome there.

  • luv2sprouse,

I apparently wrote too much so I have to break this off into sections. i'm so sorry you read something that turned you off from China. As a Chinese person I have never heard of anything that dramatic to the point that writing is necessary to talk bad things about black people. :( That's just silly. I'm sorry you read it and I hope for you to know that if you go to China you won't be hated on. There's always going to be rude people, but that's in every culture.

  • Yes happy04chic you are soo right! Of course that there is rasism in every culture, but i really really love china and chinese people, and the language. So hearing that they hate black people, kinda hurted me a bit, But that shouldnt stop me! You are totally right! thank you soo much happy04chic :D

  • There's always going to be rude people, but that's in every culture. They're just mean and want to hate. I wanted to share this video which is one of the coolest freakin videos that I've seen on youtube (to me, of course). It's a black guy singing FLAWLESSLY in Mandarin. I hope this link still works. After watching it, it made me sooo happy that people would want to learn a dialect of Chinese.

  • good pronunciation

  • 我自卑了,知道吗?你中文歌唱的比我还好!我不会说法语和日语!

  • i love you singing tong hua

  • Hi, girl. Your pronunciation actually is very good. You get huge potential. Keep practicing, you will master the language.

  • Thank you very much for sharing your language experience with us. Don't be upset; I am also a Chinese learner and speaker, and your Mandarin Chinese pronunciation is excellent, close to that of a native person. Keep practicing and eventually, you will sound like one!

  • wow good job.. keep it up!

  • u're a "language genius"!! french, japannese, korean, and now chinese!? wOW

  • diu lei does mean F**k you...@@

  • thats in cantonese

  • yeah i know that

  • u r a international person

  • You are amazing! A strong command of many languages. C-Pop ftw. I am learning a lot from music too. Tones are very annoying indeed, but I hope you learned more since 07. Great singing also :)

  • mandarin actually has 5 tones [=

  • I am assuming a lot of people don't count neutral as a tone since even chinese teachers will say it only has 4.

  • Your Chinese is amazing! I speak English, Japanese and Chinese. Keep up with your languages!

  • you should be an international newscaster, what with the, no-doubt, international accent you've prolly developed.

  • in cantonese you forgot #7. =]

  • Keep up the greeeat work!

  • you are a genius!

  • "diu lay" means "fxxk you" in cantonese

why your roommate teach you this..haha

  • you are so great...

    can you speak cantonese??

  • You are a sooooo smart

  • ni hao qiang a !(你好强啊)

    you are so talented!

  • You are one of those language geniuses! Keep up the good work. You sing beautifully in Chinese BTW.

  • Dear, I think you must sort up the mess in your head.

Btw, about Chinese, I faced with the same problem as you, and I was said, that u simply do nothing with 4 tones at first just flow by your own, and within communication with your Chinese (roommates?just friends)you will catch the pronunciation! Good luck

  • Man, I'm defintely impress. You are beautiful and so talented. I hope you find someone special to complement you.

  • Woi!! you are really talented girl, keep up, take one step at a time.

  • oooh once you know manderin first... cantonese will come easier to you because you'll be able to make more associations ^_^ haha..

  • you're such a fast learner!

you are very talented in picking up languages and patterns/associations in languages.

that's awesome! you've got a gift! not everyone are sensitive to languages like that haha

    keep it up!XD

  • Your Mandarin is great for a beginner! I have to add that your pronounciation of the 4 tones is flawless. Many foreigners just cannot get it but you manage to master it! I wish you success in learning Mandarin or any other Chinese dialects!

  • and ur cantonese is great too, hehe ^^

  • Leyla, very impressive. Your chinese is great! Especially singing.

  • Ur totally rite gal! And those songs u listen to are very famous in Asia!

  • learn chinese language so haed for me

    ni hao!

wo bu shi mei guo ren

    wo shi tai guo ren

    ^_____^

    ni zhong wen hen hao!!

  • you're right, Chinese is pretty easy grammar-wise compared to other languages (like Spanish & French- ugh, conjugations!). Good job with the tones too! Esp. good job on enunciating the Chinese characters, to their full extent, many foreigners are shy to do that and end up sounding extra foreign in their Chinese. You sound fluent- I'd have thought you were Chinese if I didn't see your face :]. You're way better than most of my International school Chinese friends!

  • 我们 can mean us and we. haha. Actually mandarin is tough to me, despite being a chinese. It's my worst language. And we also had to learn the proverbs and stuff in secondary school, which was killing me. Well. Songs do not have the correct pronunciation sometimes as they are songs and the words have to go with the tune, so it may not be very accurate learning via songs. =)

As for cantonese, I doubt I'm ever going to learn. My dialect is hokkien.

  • lol you're really cute.. your amazing, and really smart. Your tones were pretty much perfect :3 but you prob. already know.

  • I hope you start learning Chinese. Very useful language to learn. And you obviously are good at learning languages. Your pronunciation is very very good all things considered. jia you! (encouragement)

  • LOL you learned ur chinese from Jay Chou??

hahah I can never understand his song lyrics unless I look up the lyrics xD

oh and ur 4 tones was PERFECT

im really glad you're interested in marnderin!

your doing great ! keep going

& what was the 2nd thing you said in Cantonese LOL just curious xD

  • schungibanai reloshnai!!!!

  • thats japanese

  • Hi Leyla, your linguistic talent is truly inspiring. The pronunciation is close to perfect. Keep it up!

  • Hey, your four tones are pretty good. (There's actually a 5th one, kinda light and short). But yeah, if you do the hand motions while you pronounce it, it's easier. For the first, do a horizontal line with your hand. Second, go diagnoally up right, and third, do a check mark, fourth, do a slant going down to the lower right.

Your pronunciation is pretty good!! Keep it up :D

  • You are great! I'm also a self taught linguist. i speak fluent english(native speaker) Fluent spanish as well as some japanese cant read it unless its romanized lol I also speak some Vietnamese and Tagalog. You're awsome!

  • damn you are talented

  • Bu is basically all things related to "No". I "don't", "not" and so on. That's how I learned. Don't be upset about it. My sister is currently learning Mandarin. If you know Mandarin it's not that far from Cantonese, the key thing is pronunciation and it has far more tones. It has more of a whine from my phonetical hearing.

  • I have the same issue with the four tones as well.

  • wow, you're really awesome. I am a Taiwanese and a cinese native speaker as well. in addition, I am also a language fanatic like you.

I found that your pronunciation is much better than a lot of foreigners I know.

I am also glad to hear that you like the singers. Keep going. I believe you will have a proficiency in chinese someday.

  • The japanese not Chinese

  • by the way, your cantonese didn't really come out right lol but ohwell, i think you did better than other people would have =]

ermm.. just wanted to say that if you want to improve your chinese, you could always sign up for chinese school ^_^

  • i think your chinese is great!

usually people think that chinese is really hard and people can't pronounce the words.. but your great! =D good luck with your languages ^_^

  • youre quite a natural actually. Many would probably spend many years to reach your level of tone pronounciation

  • Oh my gosh! I totally thought I was like the only non-chinese person who LOVES Jay Chou and Wang Lee Hom, I also love Jolin Tsai and Luo Zhi Xiang. Chinese is SO much fun,the songs, I knew every example you gave! I LOVE it, I am taking classes now, I have many chinese friends that help me to speak it. But singing is much easier, and I agree that Mandarin is what I want to learn, not Cantonese.Your chinese tones and pronounciation is very good, you should really like learn it!:) zaijian:)

  • don;t worry i get 2 and 3 mixed up lol. but you got the sounds perfectly nice. mostly when i speak chinese to elders i try to pronouce the sounds more but usually if i'm just talking to family and friends it just kinda. erm how do i say this. it's not that exact. you can still hear the tones but it's slightly slurred and muted..as long as you don't get 4 and 23 mixed up it's okay.

  • But everything else that was in Chinese was perfect. Especially the singing.

  • That wasn't Chinese... But it was very authentic sounding Japanese though.

  • Hi Leyla! try this website for CHINESE - w w w . m a n g o l a n g u a g e s . c o m / l e s s o n

yep, these four tones are not so easy to master. but ur pronunciation is good^^

btw, ur counting in Cantonese, well, is not so exaclty :P 加油^^

  • tak ! ( = thanks in Swedish ).

Pendant que j' y suis je vais vous raconter une anecdote:

    Dans l' Antquité romaine 2 écrivains s' étaient lancé le défi d' écrire à l ' autre la lettre la plus courte. l ' un écrit donc " Eo ruri" ( Je vais à la campagne ). L ' autre lui a répondu " i " = " va ! ".

  • Bonjour Leyla !

Remember me ? C'est ton hobby, n' est-ce pas? Pratar du Svenska ? ( Parles-tu suédois?). Le suédois utilise 2 tons pour différencier certains mots. Exemple:" anden" veut dire soit " l' esprit " avec un certain ton , soit " le canard " sans ce même ton... Au fait, quelle est ta nationalité (si ce n'est pas indiscret)?

  • that's chinese?right?

    'cause sometimes..you speak.."japanese"

gosh!!,congratulations, beautiful girl and so smart as well.

    God bless you.

  • The intro was in Japanese before she started speaking in English.

  • mandarin gets increasingly easier as you keep practicing, expecially the 4 tones, good luck!

  • In the end.. you just said Fuck You in Cantones!!

  • 笑 yeah! "tiu lei ah"... these are the 1st chinese words I learnt!

  • This is not chinese.....it is japanese..

  • I suggest you watch the whole video before you comment...

  • What Chinese artists do you listen to? I'm wanting to learn Chinese and I think listening to Chinese music is a great idea

  • You'll find quite a few chinese songs in my playlists...

  • wow, ur good. how long have u been learning mando?

i'm learning canto and mando at the same time right now. besides learning through music, you should try watching series with subtitles. it helps a lot

  • I'm not really learning I just try to pick up as many things as I can... for fun and because I love languages. So it's a bit like an automatic process!

  • 言語沢山勉強し過ぎちゃうと頭爆発するって聞いたことあるぞ。きをつけて!

  • haha that's how im trying to learn mandarin too, but i relate it back to cantonese instead of english..trying to learn korean too..i just might die

  • Ni Hao! Xi Wang Ni Neng Gou Xue Hao Hua Yu! :)Ni De Hua Yu He Kuan Dong Fa Ying He Hao!

Bonjour! Espoir vous pouvez apprendre le chinois bien ! Et votre prononciation chinoise et cantonaise est bonne :)

  • aw, xie xie! Wo zhen de yao xue zhong wen!!

  • *word* not work

  • i first learn chinese through music, wang lee hom songs mostly. i find lyrics and translation, after that i need more help so i buy books and try to study from them, phrase book and dictionary. i'm impressed that you can pick up work from different songs and actually understand what it mean or how its related to one another. took me awhile, lol.

  • hey, You are really good. I am so impressed!

  • It was the same for me when I was still studying French at school but I discovered Duran Duran and, later, MetallicA: I learnt my first English words... because of their songs.

    Thanks to you!
