  • I actually love the 64 controller. The Z trigger made shooting games feel that much better.

  • Comment removed

  • please re-do this with the classic controller and the classic controller pro

  • Gamecube controller, best and most comfortable controller ever!!!!! :D

  • What's the music playing in the background?

  • i luved the n64 controller it was by far the most orignal and comfortable =D

  • you remind me of mark from cgr

  • i like todays music

  • 1. NGC controller

    2. N64 controller

    3. Wiimote

    4. SNES and NES controller

  • Wasn't the dogbone modeled after the SNES? That's what I thought.

  • the L button on n64 was used in excitebike 64 as gas

  • what about the wii nunchuck?? anyway... the L button on the N64 was used in smash bros 64 to taunt... i believe... and it is not my least favorite the NES is. although it is an amazing system.

  • Oh, no. Different intro music?? That's like changing the intro music to "The Legend of Zelda" or "Final Fantasy". However, I wouldn't mind hearing different 'remixes' of your original intro music. :)

  • todays music def

  • About today's music: It's funky, but given the circumstance (i.e. vintage gaming) while the blip-blop sound of it seems okay, it's far to bland. It should be more up-beat, just like that of the video games of yore. If you catch my drip.

As for yesterday's, well, that one's more suitable. Although, yeah, too `chill'. Should be more `in ya face'. Hehe...

  • This is a cool video. I am planning to do one like this for sega controllers in the future.

BTW, I just bought a sealed Dogbone controller in box. I'm so stoked. I only paid $15 including shipping.

  • Dude, the old music is awesome. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

(I know you already decided to keep the old music so I'm not sure why I'm commenting about this.)

  • 1 more comment after finishing the video. Despite being impossible to use all the buttons, I never had anything against the N64 controller. I remember in the wrestling games you held the middle w/ your left hand, & you could hit the d-pad to do taunts

Only controller I remember hating was the original Xbox controller. The biggest reason being when I tried it in a Walmart, due to the height & the size of the controller hooked to the demo station, it cramped my hands to use for a few minutes

  • I'm not sure about yesterday's music vs today's though. This one seems a little better, but I almost like the music yesterday better simply because it reminds me of Earthbound somehow....

  • New music is nice, but I liked the older music a lot better.

  • music's good, but a little to loud while you're talking and a bit distracting.

  • Nooooo, I like the original

  • the old music is the best

  • To be honest I hated the original song so I would skip the intro. Any apart from the original :)

  • I actually like the song you used before any of these. I'm not sure what game it was from, but it was 8 bit. But maybe I'm crazy.

Nice Controller evolution, would have liked the Nunchuk and classic controller in there, though.

  • It was from Section Z, but I stopped using it because I couldn't secure legal permission to use it.

  • Ah, that sucks. Though yeah, the One you used for a year wasn't bad then not at all. Btw, I dunno if it shows but I'm not too bad at editing, or at least I have the means... If you want a new intro, I could do one for you.

  • Call me Crazy... But the N64 is by far my Fav, controller/system of all time. Try to tell me 007 game play would have been the same with out th N64 Controller..

  • the toploader came out after the snes

  • i prefer the original......maybe you could try the price of freedom from the crisis core soundtrack

  • Can't because I don't own the rights to that song or have permission from the copyright holder.

  • Good idea, that was the best. I thought the background music was a little loud on this video too :o)

  • Listen to your fans! Lol.

  • I am. I'll be going back to the old theme starting with the next video.

BTW, if you're a fan you can also become a fan of CGR on Facebook. Just search for "Classic Games Revisited" to find us there.

  • original theme rocks

  • kepp the old song that uve had for a year :)

  • use the original music!

  • the original youve been using for a year

  • The super nintendo controller is my favorite controller ever!!

  • i didn't mind the n64 controllers because the system was so fucking awesome. and dommie...the original music was fucking sick!

  • a new year deserves a new song so I'm going to go with this song but if you end up using your original theme song then it's all good.

  • New intro theme, Nice! Not going to remember 85.. I was.. 1 Lol, well designed controller, simple, well placed, antique but works.

  • Be nice if you used music that doesn't drown you out, hard to concentrate on what your saying with that crap blasting away.

Oh and the theme from the previous year was the best imo of course.

  • I like this song very much

  • Great vids, but are you and InecomCompany competing, or something? Very similar styles, both doing controler reviews at the moment.

    Jus' sayin'. :)

  • The previous song you used for a year. Just my opinion, but everyone has their own.

I think you should play what you like. Mixing it up is cool too. It's your show man :)

    Nice vid!

  • Actually, the snes controller came before the dog bone controller...

  • The best nintendo pad in my opinion is the latest release black controler for the wii with two analogue sticks

  • music was really good in this one.

  • I like original best. It says dommiesan. Just like The Love Boat theme says this Love Boat.

But if YOU want change, why not use all three in a mix, throw it in a hat, a random draw for that particular video. Then it makes everyone happy!

  • I like this one but I really like the old one that you have had for a year. I just know who you are by that old theme. If that makes any sense at all

  • music is good, old one was just as good, but more like your own i guess... and the vol. is a bit too loud (sorry doms)

  • I think the intro music in this video is better than your old one. I did like the bad dudes music as well though.

  • This newer music is pretty nice, though I have to admit, my favorite was your original

Nice little overview! You should do some others with Sega, Sony, and Microsoft.

  • sony... really? they have the same controller over and over again and its awesome, but not that interesting

  • Cosmetically, yes they do. But yeah, it would be a nice topic to bring up in a review, to show how they really only made a few minor changes over time whereas everyone else expanded and modified their own designs.

  • I preferr the orignal song

  • Great video Dommie!!!

I really enjoy these retrospective type of videos

In my opinion, Nintendo has really innovated the whole Gaming World... my personal favorate controlers are the Original NES, the N64 (it worked for Goldeneye, nuff said) and of course, the Wiimote

  • The N64 controller was great for first person shooters. It was horrible for everything else. It feels like it was designed for people with 3 hands

  • This song is even better than yesterdays music and is clearly the best of the three

  • I actually like this theme your playing here but the other one on the bad dudes review I didnt think it fit very well.

  • I preferr the orignal song

  • i like todays music!

  • Good Job!

  • ahhhh good memroris (sorry wrong spelling)

  • its all right

  • ur old one was better

  • Hi Dommie,

You are missing two controllers in your review. The controllers missing are the Virtual Boy controller and the classic Wii controller. What do you think of the classic Wii controller?

  • I've played with the Wii classic, but I don't own one (I use a Gamecube controller on the Wii if I need something like that). It's ok, but honestly I don't think it's worth the money if you already own a Gamecube controller.

As for the Virtual Boy, I've never had a chance to play one.

  • I have the Virtual Boy and I like the contoller. It is the best thing going for the system.

  • LOL, that statement I believe.

  • @dommiesan Realy, you've never played one?! They go for less than 100 bucks in box with games if you shop around. A lot of the best ones are on Amazon, thats where I got mine. Nobody goes there for old games apparently. Also, I thought the SNES came before the NES101 with the dogbone.

  • I'll have to look on Amazon. I've only seen 1 for sale once, but it was broken and had no games so I didn't bother buying it. Is it true: does it give you a headache when you play Virtual Boy?

And yes, the SNES came out before the dogbone. I got confused on the timeline.

  • I can give headaches to some people, but I have never had them myself. I think thats pretty weird, because I normally get chronic migraines. If you play for more than a half hour without taking a break, it might. The good thing is, every game has an auto timer, that, when enabled, pauses every 15 for a break. Its good on batteries too; Lasts for a few hours for me. Thats good considering all the things that need power on the thing! Sorry for the long comments, I'm just one of those people. :)

  • Sometimes you do have to wait for a good deal to come up, but its usually worth it! You wouldnt believe some of the deals Ive got!

  • @starblazers1969 What about others, like the MAX? Or maybe the super advantage, the most confusing peice of plastic ever made?

  • I forgot about the super advantage. I owned one of these controllers once, but I sold it. It is a good controller. My favorite controller for Super Nintendo is a third party controller from Asciiware called the Asciipad. It has turbo buttons.

  • LOL. "Asciipad." Sounds like "maxipad." Didn't anybody at Ascii point that out in product development??

  • I like pad controller for fighting games and arcade stick controller for old school classics like Pacman.

  • @starblazers1969 I prefer the pad for platformers and sidescrollers, while I save the stick for the other classics, like 1943, old schools like pac-man, and (in some exeptions) shooter sidescrollers like defender.

  • i dont like this song maybe you should use ridge racer classic disk 1- naked glow

  • I don't own the rights or have permission to use the Ridge Racer music.

  • It's good to switch themes once in a while, but I thought your new song in Bad Dudes fit the intro much better.

Also, you really need to lower the music volume when you are speaking; I can barely here your voice due to the BGM being too loud!

  • Sorry. Duly noted.

  • Also, another thing you might want to do is to revamp your intro video-wise a bit as well. Use different clips, and try to time them better with the newer music.

One thing I'm curious about, is when people say "Your original theme was the best!" Are they referring to the pre-Bad-Dudes theme, or the original Section-Z NES title theme?

  • Shit, the Section Z days were a long time ago. I didn't think anybody remembered them. They're most likely talking about the pre-Bad Dudes, post Section Z.

  • Heh, yeah. I was mostly just trying to get across that people are calling your previous theme the "original", when in fact technically your original theme was the Section-Z title theme.:P

  • Yeah, I used that early on but then decided that I should stop using it because I didn't get permission to use it. I actually tried tracking down the lady who wrote the Section Z music - not much luck though, and there's the whole language barrier thing because I don't speak Japanese.

  • Also, music/video synchronization is like really hard to do. The pre-Bad Dudes music is sorta synched up with the video, but that was totally by accident. But to intentionally do something like that takes A/V editing equipment and time that I don't have.

  • Yeah, I get it.

It was just something that would be neat, but isn't really necessary. It still works pretty well either way.

  • The previous song was better.

  • Well I liked the new song. But it didn't really fit the video and the other song is better. I haven't heard the song you used for Bad Dudes or whatever. I will have to go check that out now. Either way, it was cool seeing all the controllers together like that. All of my controllers are all wrapped up and put away.

  • Dude, the original theme song is way better

  • I feel like Nintendo should bring back a more classic console, im not really into this "Wii" control thing. And although I know graphics don't make the game.. they really were a letdown.

  • you forgot virtuel boy

  • I didn't forget it, I just don't have one to do a review of. That's why I said "nearly every controller" in the description.

  • smash bros. uses the left button.

and the snes came out a while befor the nes 2 (top loader.)

  • Shit, you got me there. I guess it was the other way around - dogbone was stylized after the SNES.

  • n64 controller is one of the most versatile controllers ever. only slightly behind the wii controller

  • If you have 3 hands. Or play games with both hands and your bawlz on the analog stick. :P

  • you know why you don't have a mortal combat game on the gamecube? because you can't used the d-pad. you know why the n64 has mortal combat? because its a multipurpose controller that works well for both 3d and 2d games. you can't use the gamecube controller in the same way as you would a snes controller. the n64 is the best of both worlds. whoever came up with that 3 hands none-sence is retarded.

  • Just face it: Nintendo designed a 3 handed controller because they hate you.

The N64 was a great console. It's truly a shame that controller was designed by a retarded monkey.

  • I'd show it, but it doesn't all fit on camera. It flopped, due to the fact that you need 128 hands to use it properly.

  • i like the old one

  • Stick to the first song man, that's the one that everyone has come to know and love.

  • The previous one, but not the original.

  • previous year

  • interesting video!

  • Liked the old music better.

  • the original theme song is better,im so used to it

  • This seems to be the consensus. Old music it is for now on!

  • the older song, is definitively better,

  • I like the old song and this one.......damn...hard choice.

I'm going to go with your old song. ^_^

    Also....great review!

  • Today's song was great, I don't know weather to choose between the old song, or this one...

I'm am going have to say this one, It is a nice change of pace.

  • actually, I really like this one better, but looks like the old one is coming back...

  • I still like your original intro music the best. I'm just used to it on your videos. For me it's like if they changed the theme song to The Simpsons.

  • Yeah, I sort of dug your original music better too.

But, the video was very informative as always.

  • I preferred your original song, although these 2 new ones are alright.

  • Nice intro music.I kinda liked the older one a bit better though.

  • awesome revie as alway! u know, as nice as the intro music is, i miss the old theme!!

  • FIRST!!!!!!!!!
