mick taylor is such a bad ass on the guitar.. even without the slide, even when hes playing plain chords.. hes got such an awesome sound on his guitar
One of the greatest blues covers of all time, this Robert Johnson song was brought to life by the Stones. As with all their songs, you can feel the emotion in Mick Jaggers voice, gets me every time.
I love the Rolling Stones. They are a huge inspiration to me. But I have to say I don't think this is the root of blues. They always held true to their roots, and Love In Vain is CERTAINLY original blues, but it's their off-color style that makes them so much more interesting than any blues band of that time.
Mick Taylor plays a great solo and what does the camera do? - show the crowd. I think it was an unwritten cameraman's rule in the 60's, whenever a guitar solo starts show the drummer or the crowd.
@mtvstva I couldn't say it better! good observation. in general lot's of the 60's stuff was totally unfocused on the main thing. it could be camera play with the lights or on the someone form the crowd or just focus too much on the singer. anyway better then nothing. Cheers.
Love how that sound brings you back. This was definitely a comfortable peak sound for the band with Richard's and Taylor's guitars in rich but fluidly smooth tone. Keith is playing a flying V! Mick is brave because that song is nuanced and I'd imagine it would be difficult to sing in front of a crowd of thousands. Thank God this was filmed!
i would like to have been a carefree hippie with music of the 60s and 70s and die along with that era, instead i came out in the 90s.. oh well........
@aaronfoster624 They play it in G, i played along with one vid and i had to play in G#, but i think that somehow the pitch of the song was moved a step. they didn't actually play it in G#
@knerkoman It sure looks like it huh...he's pulling a band off his arm with his teeth...but you can't see what is happening prior to that..suspect for sure...
@dannyh1977 Jagger never got into the hard drugs like Keith..he's wiped out on weed :-) it was really really good back then ;-) thats what i've heard anyways..thats my story and I'm stickin' to it
He probably would have died had he stayed as his ever-increasing appetite for drugs was f- - -ing him up badly. No-one can keep up with Keith's drug intake!
They ruined this song.
