  • @TheEdiebaby James Cameron wrote the script before Pocahontas even came out. Get the facts then comment.

  • The reason the Hurt Locker won was because of its extremely relevant political commentary on a soldier's perspective of a tour in a country at war. Add to that fact the Hurt Locker was an incredible war movie with real performances and terrific direction.

As for the Oscars always being a sham, just because a film you wanted to win doesn't win does not make the most important film awards in history a sham.

  • 8 people were bitten by an Ikran.

  • Anyone glad Cameron had to wait for the right technology to do his movie justice? he wrote this movie 18 years ago and didn't want make-up or appliances or animatronics for he thought it would be boring and stupid.

  • i find the technology used for this movie far more interesting than the actual movie

  • @ETWaterford

Do you think Avatar deserves to be highest grossing movie ever? and do you think it will ever be as good as Aliens and T2 when it comes to Cameron?

  • 8 people are totally blind...

  • great. watch our videos please and comment :)

  • I still disagree with you James Cameron.

You might of invented alot of new features and revolutionized the CG industry... but computer imagery will never be as realistic as real-life make up.

  • this would have been best picture and definitely one of the greatest pictures of all time. It had acting, directing, groundbreaking cinematography and special effects, and well publicized. all that was missing was a story that didn't seem like a paraphrase. that really weighed the film down and masked the great acting and direction

  • Zoe! Zoe! Zoe! Zoe!

  • i cant find, any where that i can learn the Image based motion capture techniqe only the normal one :(

  • C&C Generals music starts at 1:41.

  • basically he created in the real world a 3d enviroment with markers to shoot scenes like you do in 3d programs....(and did the same thing for actors expression capture) all in real time, I know something about 3d and I can tell you that this is really an impressive piece of innovative work, wich makes crating a 3d movie more faster and accurate than ever!!

    James Cameron Rulez

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOTR trilogy and Avatar best movies ever!!!

  • Good gracious, if I ever get into the movie business, I want to use this tech ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME!!

  • i bought a blu-ray driver and the Avatar blu-ray dvd just to watch the insane graphic

  • This is very similar to how Shakespeare made his plays. When a character hid behind a bush or interacted with the environment, the actors would use basic props. So it does not surprise me what James could get such a good performance out of the actors despite having no elaborate set. It does not take millions of dollars in set design to get a good actor into character. However, today it does take billions of dollars in computers for people to like it.

  • one word AWESOME!!

  • that's downright amazing!

  • THIS THURSDAY ON DVD

  • I would give anything to watch the preformances of the actors, like at 1:00, with a split screen of the film. That'd be amazing

  • Due to ilness, I havent seen the movie yet. Cant wait to see it, BUT first we have to get Blueray, nothing less can do it!!

Seeing this clip, makes me wanna get it fast, as a technerd, this is so interesting to see!!

    THANKS!!

  • the greatest visionary ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @karrrrrry who Walt Disney? I agree

  • If you didn't see this movie, you missed something (:

  • 300... Without doubt one of the greatest cinema experiences you will ever have. No longer showing in 3D which is a real shame. Cinemas should run this for a year to allow everyone to see it at its best. Congrats to Jim and crew on a fantastic film.

  • @Buzzjugs You know what I heard. In Fall James Cameron might re-release the film in 3D at the Cinema with 40 minutes of bonus footage. Which I am really looking forward to, if he does it.

  • How The Hurt Locker won best director and best picture is beyond me...The Oscars is and always was a sham. How this picture was nominated for 9 academy awards and only brought home 3?! What the hell?!

  • @bassplaya1549

too much politics were involved. AVATAR SHOULD OF WON

  • @daishalinton Ah yes, agreed

  • @bassplaya1549 yeah i was watching the oscars and when the hurt locker won i was like wtf

  • @bassplaya1549

i totally agree with you. the oscars is about snobbery

  • @bassplaya1549 Ever thought that the goverment of the USA is funding the whole movie business..? :-) Its all politics, propaganda and another means of displaying "power". Back to the OP, this movie rocks!

  • @bassplaya1549 Because the Hurt Locker is much more original and much more believable.

Have you ever seen Pocahontas? Avatar is exactly the same as that, only with some sparkly bits.

  • @ChibiPandaa Much more original? lol Ever see Jarhead? Or any other "War" movie...and yes I have seen Pocahontas...and Avatar is NOTHING like it...Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas are NOTHING like Avatar...besides the whole story about saving our environment...Also how do you know it is not believable? There might be a planet out there waiting to be discovered with blue human like creatures...with tails. You don't know that.

  • @bassplaya1549 I've seen Jarhead many a time. Such films focus on the emotional trauma suffered by servicemen and women and how war can be addictive. The Hurt Locker tapped into these things much better than any other war film I've seen.

Pocahontas also deals with environmental destruction - hence her song to John; "you can own the earth and still, all you'll own is earth", which mirrors the ethos of human greed within the story of Avatar.

  • @ChibiPandaa

Cameron wrote Avatar BEFORE Pocahontas ok? he wrote his screenplay in 1993 and Pocahontas was released in 1995, it was his story since 1988 when he wrote the plot and ideas on a piece of paper then wrote his screenplay in 1993. He wanted it film it for a 1999 release date in 97 after Titanic is released but he decided to put the script in a drawer and wait a decade for the right technology to satisfy his vision. He greenlighted this movie in 2005 after being convinced by LOTR

  • @bassplaya1549

Cameron wrote Avatar before Disney's Pocahontas in 1993 did you know that? people are too lazy to research anymore like i do. It was always his story since 1988 but put the script in a drawer for a decade waiting for the technology to satisfy his intended vision because he didn't want to do make-up and animatronics as he thought it would be boring and stupid. He greenlighted the film after being convinced by LOTR's technology and worked from 2005 till early 2009.

  • @Johnlindsey289 The story of Pocahontas is 400 years old and no one came up with it; it actually happened. Research that. She's buried in the UK. Avatar is amazing but no one can deny that it has the basic backbone of said story. The love story is not at all original. The world and the characters are.

  • @bassplaya1549 Oscar Politics, which is why I no longer consider an oscar when considering seeing a film or not.

  • @123allrock ah yes! agreed!

  • @bassplaya1549 By the same token Avatar didn't deserve to win Cinematography. Mauro Fiore's contribution to the movie seemed minimal, given that 20% of it was live action. He's not there on the virtual stage photographing the scenes for instance, Jim Cameron's doing that

  • The best film I've ever seen. It's amazing to see how it was made. 1:10 is one of the best moment I think. Neytiri has sexy accent.

  • i just dont get it why wud a priest wud think that this movie is one of the most satanic film evr made?? i just now realize how mother nature (eywa) wanted to say to us PEOPLE.. i am now official fan of AVATAR

  • @pasosabbe From it's earliest days, Christianity has considered paganism -- which is largely nature/gaia worship -- as a threat. It spread by co-opting pagan holidays, such as winter solstice (xmas) and spring equinox (Easter). Where it couldn't convert it enslaved. Whatever Christianity began as, it evolved as Neo said in the Matrix, into just "another level of control."

  • @pasosabbe Dude get used to it. Think about it. When the Harry Potter films and books were huge, religious people complained. When LOTR was big, people had something to bitch about. There ALWAYS has to be some sort of religious or racial protest. We had whites, mexicans, natives, and african americans in this film so there were no racial bitches. There were aliens in this film, so there WERE religious nutjobs complaining. That's why I am atheist. Religion divides people. Causes war.

  • It's cause for alot of our problems.

  • @pasosabbe I'm a fan of it as well :D

  • i must say ... i am now OFFICIAL fan of AVATAR ...

  • OMG took my breath away, to see how this was made....... wow. The actors did amazingly. Jim inspired me to continue working on my rpg game, and to write again. Its good to see that there are still creative people in this world, and that technology can help us so greatly. To be able to do something like this.... I only wish i could have been part of it to work with him must have been an experience that no one could forget. A creator that never gave up and created something beautifully amazing.

  • This is brilliant! Zoe, Sam, Sigourney and the others are awesome!

  • This is really.....outstanding!!!

  • very nice film, and good actor's.

  • what is the song called that is at the end of the video??

  • Official DVD release date is April 22nd 2010 which is ironicly Earth Day. James also said this 3D Directors Cut release will be sometime in November 2010

  • this MOVIE is FREAKIN AWESOME

  • @mariannebullingtonxd You are just a peddlar of downloads

  • i watched avatar 3 times, and i wanna watch it again!

  • It was awesome to see how they really filmed it. That was what I was really looking forward to see on the DVD special features. Definitely one my favorite movies ever!

  • i just loved this work...from Sudan.

  • this showed the world what technology can do and I doubt that everyone can accept this

  • zoe saldana needs an oscar or whatever. she brought me to tears at least twice in this movie.

  • @aytches AMPAS does not recognize performance capture as legitimate acting. It's not really their fault. They just need to be educated. Morgan Freeman said it was cartoons. Meryl Streep compared it to The Fantastic Mr. Fox. It will take an extraordinary performance for the art to be recognized.

  • 4:36...wow...great performance....

  • I love this video! It shows how the film is made very good... Very good movie! James Cameron is really one of the best writer & producer!

  • absolutely outstanding. best film ever :)

  • seacat

  • Wow, just wow!, i can't belive how absolutly amazing this looks, the camera was lyk seeing the actors in a diffrent dimention, a portal!! :D

  • just speechless!!!

  • @kaporalf150 Ha, then why are you watching this then? Why did you click on the link? Why even open your mouth if you don't like it?

  • best movie ever.

  • AWESOME MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    best movie ever!!!!

  • There are no words fitting enough to describe the beauty they have created for us...

  • when I saw this movie in cinema it took me soo deep.. I'ts just so amazing.. The story and dialog is perfect. Best movie I saw ever.

  • i can't wait to buy the DVD

    it's really amazing!

  • It's amazing!!!!!!

  • The best movie ever ... Cant wait of the DVD

  • I don't think there ever be another movie quite like, Avatar!

  • Zoe made this movie.

    She's the new HOT.

You can keep Paris Hilton and Angie Jolie.

    I'll take Zoe.

  • lol, same here .. neytiri is so sexy

  • @Mister006 I agree with you on that!

  • @Mister006 Paris Hilton and Angelina Jolie are in no way comparable. Angelina Jolie can actually act, is smart, and she is gorgeous. I agree that zoe is really beautiful though

  • Amazing

  • omg...i watched this video for 10 times...every day :D:D:D I loveit so much

  • i may not agree that james cameron is the best director ever, but it takes a lot of imagination being able to see things like a plastic model and turn it into a machine or plant

  • So heart-stoppingly awesome. What a gargantuan effort by all involved. Ten stars!

  • I made my teaser from official trailer and teaser and I think you guys will enjoy it. so check it)

  • och, it's great. 4:00 4:35

    1:27 i saw it on discovery :D

  • This is unbelievable! I didn't realize how complex the motion capture process was for this film. It looks like a lot of tedious work, but it definitely paid off big (literally and figuratively)! The most unbelievable part about this movie is quite paradoxically that you do in fact believe what you are seeing.

  • Holy SHIT!!

  • @akf2000 Yeah thats why it made over 1 billion dollars worldwide

  • @akf2000 actually in some cases it does...people go to see it multiple times over and over again. Now they are saying it should not be Num. 1 because of inflation. But it deserves every dollar for its release and is truly the best movie story and visual effects wise ever made so far.

  • I consider myself to be lucky to be one who is in this industry.

  • WOW! I am amazed! o.o

  • this it's amazing !

  • Woaaw great work... Great technic...

    Just.. incredible

  • soooo cool!

  • makes you wonder how they acted for the "Sex" scene O.o

  • man, this film was amazing...

  • most incredible movie ever

  • Oh my god, thats totaly awesome :)

  • Just amazing!

  • okay, that made me see the movie in a whole new light

I'm much more contented to know that the cgi were really played by actors!

I can't believe all the things the staff and actors went through do do this film --- and their imagination!!! Fantastic work!!!!!

This is the best movie ever made!!!! I love it!!!!!! :)

  • now that is very cool

  • wooooooooow! that gave me goosbumps! every designer and animator's wet dream! fantastic!

  • As much as I liked the movie, seeing how it is made kind of takes away from the effect.

  • can someone tell me if theres is gonna be an AVATAR 2

  • Yeah but he's making another movie before that I believe. Battle Angel I think it's called.

  • @maagiikk I think the squel is planned for 2012

  • fact: best movie ever made

  • That fact is correct.

  • I love how people are simply saying, "Oh it only beat Titanic because of the ticket prices for IMAX." I can also argue those same ticket prices can kill a movie if it really did "suck" as so many have quoted saying...

Just shut up haters and enjoy a really great movie. STOP trying to get attention all the time by always going against the hype... Avatar has lived up to the hype and then some, I quote now, this movie will break 2Billion worldwide box office...

  • zoee killed dat character representing dominicans hollerz

  • Magnificent, Splendid, Glorious, Superb....

Just the best movie ever made!!

  • AWESOME movie!!! I've seen it four times!! But don't see it in 2-D; it doesn't do the movie justice.

  • Amazing :3

  • In my opinion this is one of thee best movies ever made i loved it i saw it twice

  • me too!

  • This is why I wanna get into the movie business!

  • ME TOO!! i start school in 6 months cant wait!!

  • start school for what ?

  • I want all of these extras on blu-ray, along with deleted scenes, and everything else in like a tin box. That would be sweet, and you could call it: Unabtanium Edition! Can't wait for it on blu-ray and Avatar II!!!

  • Ive just been mindfucked

  • i saw this in 3d for my second time today

  • amazing amazing

  • i wonder how they did the ear motions.

    example 1:09

  • creative imagination by the animators i think

  • That was done by another layer of CGI, afterward.

  • woh zoey

  • Ooo yeach, super!!! :)

  • this is so amazing

  • They should do this for like any anime adaptaption movie or comic, instead of make up, real movements and all

  • they wouldn't get much viewers

  • @Vincebandicot521 ok so if like the last Dragon ball movie was did like this, you think they wouldnt get much attention?

Or a spider man movie even?

  • WOW :O

    Nice work!!

    Love the movie!

  • Those side by side shots are really good. If there were more Ii would love to see them!

  • Cant believe that the same great technology is going to be used for "Jackass 3 3-D"

  • It WON'T, only camcorder like in the Final Destionation...

  • That was amazing!!

  • I love watching the side by side scenes. I hope they include some more of these on the dvd extras. it reminds me a lot of watching a stage play. Amazing to see how you take that and use cgi to make itn amazing movie performance. Too cool!

  • did any of you assholes see star trek
