Ever consider using white glue or wood glue instead of super glue? I bet it's quite a bit cheaper, and won't stick to your skin so readily. Also, I hope you're not using expensive brushes for your drybrushing and overbrushing: that will be the death of them. Dollar stores often have brushes with plastic bristles that work quite well for those purposes, and they're cheap.
I usually use spare parts or cut-offs. Pretty much anything will do, for example a goblin without a head.
You place the goblin so that the spot where his head is supposed to be will be inside the rubble pile.
I really like cutting up a body, chopping off the limbs and making the goblin look as if his body was under the rubble. Double check that the legs, arms and head will be sticking out at correct angles at correct places before you superglue them.
at first i thought this would be boring but then it turned out to be pretty cool, i mean, i wouldnt do it but your rly good at it, nice video keep it up
you can put a miniature (dead one :P ) under the rubles with a flag on his hand and would look preaty cool (i did it with a chaos marine looks pretty coll i am going to put a video :))
nahh probably not. rocks are easy tho. get a normal rock the shape u want it, superglue or whiteglue/pva glue it to a piece of whatever u want (my preferance is cardboard) and then paint it as follows:
chaos black basecoat
codex grey highlight
soft fortress grey highlight
at the outer edges where the light is the strongest put some very soft skull white drybrush
dude, if i were u i would buy games workshop plyers, sniprs, cutters or watever u want to call them. using scissors is much more awkward as they are much to big lol
another way to do this is on a old cd you can make like ruble next to a little like shelter thing like a little part of a wal it look cool and nice work
your videos are really helpful, :P i like the idea to put in bodies too it looks really cool, i use the weapons i accidently break when making my models for detail :D
you should have used PVA glue, its just easier and cheaper, also use sand to fill in the gaps, undercoat the whole thing black, then dry brush with various colours of grey . good luck every1
Hey man i love your videos, i followed your directions and made a rubble pile myself including a small gaming board for the starter set and a small battle and a wall with a lege for archers to shoot from... THNX for all the help.
This Rubble Pile thing is great! At first I thoguht that it would look kind of strange like InfestedCarnifex said, but with the sand and the random body or bodies it looks fantastic! Keep up the good work = )
wow that very good tutorial and very helpful for my prodject that im working on osgiliath from lotr and i was wondering if you had any tips or could make some helpful terain and this was very godd to put around my shaterd buildings
Looks pretty playable. Something that I do for my rubble piles is to put all of the sprue clippings into a paper (or plastic) cup and pour in some wood glue or elmer's glue, stir it up with a popsicle stick or something. Stiring it up with glue makes sure that glue gets on everything. Simply pour it on to your base and let it sit and dry. Might be a little faster than applying super glue one piece at a time.
i know thats why i like makin it look like a little hill of coloured sprue so it gives the effect that the thing is already gone - smashed into pieces by trolls or guns whatever game u play
I suggest you to use the less expensive vinyl glue instead of the superglue.
And to use a paint retarder in order to not waist so much colour, which dries quickly, expecially when mixed on paper or carton.

Looks effective. I did my trees with hardboard, which works well being quite stiff but takes a bit more work to cut.

It would probably be cheaper to use PVA glue, though it takes longer to set

nice :Dthx!

better to use hardboard for scenery. tougher, but you need a saw 2 cut it and it's heavier

halomado117 2 years ago
hi what kind of card are you using?
05olimor 2 years ago
@05olimor
normal cardboard that you get from shoeboxes and stuff.
However I recomend using hardboard, it looks much better and it's easier to use in gaming

kurkkuz 2 years ago
how are you ment to get the bodies on cuz i tried didin't work still it's awsome
SithWarrior9 2 years ago
Use superglue and if you have problems with the white stuff that sometimes stays after superglue is applied, paint over it.
---
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT SUPERGLUE IS COMPLETELY DRY TWICE BEFORE YOU EVER PAINT OVER IT!
I've lost quite a number of brushes due to impatiance of this sort... thinking back they cost me arround $50 if not more...
---
for what parts to use and how to put them on, check my comment reply below.

I put my rubble over small mounds of clay
this cuts down the work of clipping all of the sprue and gives more possibility of the shape of the pile.

hmm... it might be but i like it like this because i can choose the exact shape of the rubble :)
but thx for the tip
IIXIXIXII 4 years ago
yeah but all rubble piles are compleatly random in real life
InfestedCarnifex 3 years ago
true but if u would put them completely random then it would be ugly
and they arent that random.... if u have a pillar or a wall that was destroyed then arround it will be more rubble than in the middle of nowhere :)
IIXIXIXII 3 years ago
yeah but when it falls it doesnt all fall in a specific spot
