  • xteeener brought me :)

  • i bougth all of the products that you bougth and used for this tutorial it was veryy helpful keep on makeing videos yhu rockk <3

  • lol extra junk

  • does using the same jar full of cleanser 'contaminate' the other brushes? I understand you wouldn't just keep using the same solution over and over, but if you are cleaning like 10 brushes, do you need to change the solution between each one?

    thanks for your help.

  • Do you have to use baby shampoo and your nails are really pretty!

  • i love the vid, and your extra jjunk bin. when i saw it, i had the best laugh all day :)

  • THINK ABOUT IT, DAWN dish detergent is used for cleaning animals that were victims of oil spills in the ocean/river or sea (how harsh can it on your fur/hair or synhetic hairbrushes). DAWN is great for cleaning the dirt grease & grime from your make up brushes also. & it does it without alot of effort.

After you clean the brushes lay them flat on a paper towel to dry.

MAC solution is good for daily "spot cleaning" of your brushes using a paper towel for swiping.Baby shampoo wont cut grease.

  • i have the MAC cleaning solution. But let me tell you, its great for conditiong & maybe getting rid of the bacteria. BUT for cleaning really dirty greasy brissles/brush hair...it does not cut it! What I did for one of my favorite brushes (it was extremely dirty shame on me)! When the MAC solution didn'twork I went to the kitchen, put a pump of DAWN on the brush lathered & rinsed 2x. NO MORE grease dirt or residue just that fast. Then used the MAC solution for conditioning the brush. VOILA!!!

  • how much is that jar from micheals?

  • i wouldnt scrub your brushes that hard..and i thought that those brush cleaning jars would be for paint brushes?

  • dun used baby shampoo instead use antibacterial dish wash soap it cleans the brushes n makes em real soft n after u clean wit that use extra virgin oil to soften the brushes i love the way it makes my brushes feel try it!

  • wow your scrubbing he brush so hard! i could never do that to my babies

  • this video is unnecessarily long.

  • its 4 and a half minutes.........?

  • could you just use plain water>???

  • What's another good cheap brush cleaner that can be used that's equally as thin as MAC that drys quick for immediate use on another patron when you're a makeup artist with more than one patron a day?

  • dilute some soap with water. and add some alcohol.

  • sounds good, but doesn't it dry the hair?

  • I use japanesque

  • 99 percent alcohol is great, and it dries fast and its super cheap. and if you soak them( not past the ferel) in 70% alcohol the bacteria count will be at 0% its what i do,

  • It look like you are being very rough with them :| Are they still as soft and nicley shaped?

  • i hope you know you have amazing hands, hand model status, and thanks for the info! <3

  • i loev the way you clean your brushes but i do think you are being a little rough with them but thanxs for this vid

  • i lovee ur blog, but when are u going to make new videos?=]

  • awesome i was looking for a quick cheap alternative and she gave us one ^^..thank u

  • thanx for the info

  • I was wondering if dilluting water-based makeup removal solution with water is a good alternative? Or instead of shampoo, use lotion-based makeup removal?

  • Hey Vanessa! I saw a similar jar at Sally's (it's called YCC Total Immersion Brush Cleaning Jar) and I was wondering, would it work the same? And also, is there anything like the MAC brush cleaner (besides the baby shampoo, like a liquid brush cleaner but cheaper)

    Thanks!

  • baby shampoo is probably cheap as you'll get at like what 3-4 dollars

  • @AngelofMusic930811 you can purchase baby shampoo from places like "Dollar Bills", "Deals", "Dollar General" and some Thrift Stores like the "Goodwill" who sell new items. They are $1 and new. Same quality as any other baby shampoo.

  • Hey Vanessa,

it doesn't ruin the bristles right ? Because it sounds like its legit being rough on them .. maybe its just the camera being close to it ? Please let me know because I am really tempted to buy that jar. Thanks :)

  • Hi gorgeous! No it doesn't ruin your bristles, the sponge it rubs against is really soft, almost like hair, and not as rough as normal sponges, and they clean pretty well!

  • i luv ur nails! sorry ADD moment lol

  • i love it! thanks (=

  • Anybody know if I can get anything similar to the Brush Cleaning Jar in England?

  • i love your nails

  • Great tutorial, so glad I found it, but one question. How much is the MAC brush cleaner and if I were using the baby soap, would I put that on the sponge with some water or what would I do differently?

  • Hi there, I think the brush cleaner was around $10 or $11 and if you are going to use baby shampoo I suggest just applying it on the brushes and skip the sponge and just gently clean with your fingers as it its probably easier and effective that way...

  • Thanks for the idea! Cleaning makeup brush has never been easier! :D

  • excellent girl! love the idea!

  • Thanks for this rec! I bought one and used it with my brush shampoo and it works great. :)

  • i dont think she sounds bored at all, i hate it when make up tutorial people sound like they just drank ten cups of coffee.

  • i dont know about you but personally cleaning brushes doesnt provide me with sublime energy..its not the most exciting task. I don't think she sounds bored but how excited can you be about cleaning brushes!?

  • genius! Gonna get this jar tomorrow!

  • what a good idea. =)

  • Can you use that sponge to clean synthetic brushes too?

  • definately going to purchase this!

  • awsome

  • Love your nails!!!

  • you should sell these on Ebay!!! I cant find ANYONE who sells these in the UK :(

    I WANT ONE!!

    Great vid- thanks!

  • do you use the shampoo the same way you use the special brush cleaner? also do youwash big face/powder brushes the same way you washed the little brushes

  • i love ur nails

  • that is a lot faster and better than the way i clean my brushes! I am going to buy that jar. Thx for the video

  • luv ur nails :) sooo cute

  • Cool I love how you also gave the fact that johnsons baby shampoo works, I usually use that on a wash rag but now i'm going to look for a far with the brisle pad.

    :]

  • Hey Vanessa =) Nice vid you have there, Imma actually go to michaels and try it out (you're doing some good advertising hehe).

My brush cleaner is different though, I think it's really strong or something. If I dilute it with water to lightly soak the sponge, by brushes won't be as clean as it's supposed to be right?

  • so no water?. why is this way better tho

  • Water isn't needed since you are already using a brush cleaner, you may use water if you like, but my brushes are clean and dry as soon as I take it out from the jar with a paper towel...

  • wow.... and u didn't even use water! so ur saving water that's awesome!

  • Hi there! Yeah you can use whatever will fit into the jar including big face brushes, I just ended up using small brushes in this vid because I cleaned all my big face brushes the night before! LOL

  • hi vanessa! Do you know how long the sponge is good for? and if they sell refills? It bothers me when my white brushes aren't white after cleaning! I hope this will be a solution to my problems.

  • I think it lasts a long time. You just gotta wash the sponge each time after each use...there are no refills available I don't think, we just have to take it out and wash them each time, or buy an entirely new one for around $5...

  • Hi D! I just found out that some craft stores sell the refills, 2 in a pack for $3.99! I guess my Michaels didn't have it!

  • hey vanessa!! great vid!! always enjoy them cause they're super informative and helpful (in a good way :) ). i was wondering if you knew if they also have refills for the sponge thing in the jar?

  • Hi there, thanks so much! No there are no refills, you just have to take it out and wash them each time, or buy an entirely new one for around $5...

  • Thanks for the idea on the brush cleaning jar

  • Thanks for sharing. Thats a good idea of using a brush cleaner jar.

  • would you do a fotd or video on your milani eathly delights quad

  • oh my good that really cool...thanks for sharing BTW how much is this n which aisle u got ,one more thing after cleaning brushes with using this jar,u didnt clean ur brushes with water???

  • Hi there, I mention it on the info part...I got it from the same aisle that has the acrylic paints...there's no need to rinse it with water because I am already using the MAC brush cleaner...

  • awesome with the brush cleaning jar! how much was it?

  • I believe it was around $5 or $6...
