  • Steve Allen doesn't seem that plastic for a TV personality of that era

  • this is how rock'n roll is ment to be.....down and dirty!

  • Holy crimenentlies? Bring back the GREATS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "no body knows what the song is about" LOL, okay. sure.

  • they had to build a fence

  • i was 8yrs old when this came on - remember it like it was yesterday - steve allen shows were ahead of its time - a real riot better than the junk on today

  • I've heard of food fights and water balloon fights...But chair fights?

  • I can understand why girls went wild for the Killer. I was born in the wrong decade. Now all we have is Justin Bieber and that's like comparing a lion to a mouse.

  • the first show he did one stool was thrown - i'm 62 & remember these shows like it was yesterdaythis show sid ceasar milton berle we're a riot

  • @PONYBOY430 The fuck? I see you're comments everywhere on YouTube!

  • the chairs were halarious

  • Fantastico, grande, lo mejor . Jerry es el rock´n´roll !!!!

  • Steve Allen made Elvis look like a fool when he had him on yet he let Jerry Lee rock. Go figure

  • who the hell wears their hair like that in 57?? This mans an original, wild

  • @jsheehan100 Excactly like his hair in '57? JLL could not have a real pomp but as a WWII "expert" I can tell you that already in 1944, in Normandy, the 12th Waffen SS division 'Hitlerjugend" aka "The Milk and Honey Division" (named that by the Brits, Yanks and Canucks because of their age,16-18) many of these teens had this way of long hair. Yea, you read right, Germans in Normandy in 1944. I have at least one Japanese book with very clear pics that show it in detail. No other comparison....

  • @bellgardens53 Contin...but guys with REAL pomp hairdos, you have some before JLL, like Esqurita (an influence of Little Richard), Richard himself as least as early as 55, El of course, Gene, Bob Luman...and many others. But I know what you mean about the killer. He look baaaad and magic in one and same person and hair hanging down. And was for sure only one JLL on earth. A fact.

  • It was too much for the citizens then

  • Steve Allen reminds me on David Letterman! Can you say that XD?

  • The hair doesn't get better than that!

  • @nickeyparadise As a showman, he knew what he was doing...And I'd call him a more "theatric" piano player... He's very ham-handed, although some would reply that's his 'style'... LOL!

  • When chairs fly that's the sign of a frickin great concert!

  • Who is throwing the chairs about??

  • haha "nobody knows what the song is about..."

  • @champ258

So what is this song about?

  • @pamkayvan doing whatever you want how you want. but the song doesn't revolve around its 'meaning'.

  • the drummer is wearing shades- that is so rocknroll.

  • steve allen was such a dick

  • @ZAPDUNGAA

Jerry Lee Lewis didn't think so. He named one of his sons Steve Allen Lewis.

  • @CherrySlush1

yeah..but elvis presley thought he was a dick....he made him dress up in a tuxedo and sing to a dog

  • @ZAPDUNGAA

True dat! Back then most everyone of Steve Allen's age detested rock 'n roll. Gotta remember though Steve Allen was of another generation and at least he was featuring this stuff on his show. I wouldn't call him a dick. I always liked him.

  • @CherrySlush1

yeah..he featured rock n roll acts on his show..but behind their backs he detested them...he only had them on for one reason only..... $

  • If you like this please check out Ezra Lee, Australian rockabilly piano player

  • I love the chairs soaring in the backround!

  • Dynamo!

I think he's incredible really- I just discovered him- although I have known about him for years.

  • what he did sto elvis with hound dog showed is shallowness

  • The chairs being tossed around are the result of Steve Allen's great sense of humor. Steve Allen himself is a classic. He was a fabulous songwriter and pianist as well.

  • Most artists do a song the exact same way especially when they are breaking through for the first time! Jerry breaks all the rules from day 1. This is so different to his first appearance!

  • oh hell yeah

but what was with the chairs being thrown at the end?

  • What a man... (:

  • Man thats wild now - what must it have been like then ! - thank you

  • GREAT!!!

  • Cool version

  • Rock and roll history. The killer!!
