@marcellodder1 Hi Marcel, That sure was a different way of kata-competition then we were used to. We didn't compete in Tiel in 2007, but I don't remember why. In 2008 we did go there again, getting me a second place in forms if I recall correctly.

This was a championship where two people had to do their form at the same time, the judges then would vote one of them to the next round. I had to do my form six times before reaching the finals ;-)
I prefer doing forms solo and getting scored though.
maybe just an optical illusion, but it looked like those forms are being performed pretty close to each other. about 3 times during that video i expected to see the TKD guy get swatted on the ear with that staff.

haha I was that taekwon-do guy;)
I was real scared to do my form next to him.. I had 3 or 4 times total shock and the idea he will hit me!!
Year after we did 1 by 1 and I became number 1;)

Besides doing these "forms", did you guys ever fight in a tournament? Can you actually use the staff in a fight besides swatting it in thin air?

I did do quite some training sessions fighting with the staff. Never did it in a tournament however, since as far as I know there aren't any.
