cause it wasn't a clone of himself. the mask pulls the wearer from different times of their life to fight alongside the wearer(however bitil does not remember going to the future when he does, and as such cannot remember how he got his injuries)

Well, Bitil killed the Bitil from the past. That means Bitil died in the past, so how could Bitil possibly exist in the presant if he already died before? Also, from Biosector (The best Bionicle Wiki) it says this on Bitil's mask. "If a past self is killed, the user will vansish." That was quoted from the wiki.
