Actually, I had a thought at one time to redo the FX shots in Firefly. Many of them weren't rendered at 1080p and the quality is inconsistent. Also sometimes it switches between two different versions of the Serenity model
Plus, the movie version of the ship that this one is built off of is more detailed anyways.
Don't have the time to do it though. Have too many other things to do (like the inside ;) )
Serenity would translate very well into a video game, but I agree that an RPG wouldn't be a good choice. The worst thing they could do with it is what they did with Chaos Bleeds. Decent game overall, but the developers seemed to lack imagination and the game was short and limited in play.
@RPGoddess So would you rather see an action game? Like an FPS or maybe some FPS/RPG feel like Mass Effect? I think the gameplay style would really effect the type of game and the narative if you were to do a Serenity game. I think it could be fun with more action and a limited storyline since there's not necessarily a lot to tell now but you could do some fun stories within the confines of the pre-set world. Probably with the same characters just having some whacky side adventure.
Now all we have to do is decide whether this should be a shooter, an MMORPG, or a single player RPG like Mass Effect. Hope some developer picks this up and doesn't screw it. Bioware?
Anyways, thanks everyone it was something I really enjoyed doing. And it's not over, the interior is still left to do, and I'll definitely get that done someday.
As far as a game goes--I've considered a lot of stuff. A Firefly/Serenity MMO would be a bad idea (what's the point if you can't interact with the Serenity crew or fly in the ship?)
An RPG is a different matter--the issue there is that a leveling system wouldn't work. Something like Mass Effect would be good though
Sometimes I build the interior. I'm working on the inside of Serenity, since you should be able to see the inside of the bridge from the front through the windows. If the ship is really big, I would try to avoid having to build the interior, since it would take a lot of time.
For video games, you have to try to keep things low detail so that the game runs as fast as possible. And of course keep them separate.
@darthviper7 In video games, there's more than likely a setting that allows whatever can't be seen by the player (Interiors not seen when looking at the ship) to not be rendered, which definitely allows for faster frame rates and such.
Hello there, nice models. Have one question. When you are making a space ship, are you making an interior too? For example if you are going to make a huge mmm.... Mothership or command ship, would you make an interior too? Or just ship form box? And if you'll need an interior you'll make it separat
I hope this make sense to you. appreciate for help.
Really good work, lots of detail in modeling and texturing. Hope the metal textures I have on my new reel turn out as nice as yours.

Pretty bad ass IMO!
You should do all the CGI scenes in Babylon 5 in your free time and then give them to the studio so they can finally release B5 in HD :P
You may also want to consider putting "3D" into the video title...

Amazing Firefly ship! I was a bit confused with the horse ranch and stadium at the end. What I'd like to see is Firefly *landing* inside the ranch.

@donpdonp Hah, this is my portfolio reel, so it's got work from other unrelated projects in there. The rodeo stuff was from a canceled game project.
