AMD will only be able to compete 4core/8thread mainstream CPUs by Intel. Intel is so ahead of the competition. Bulldozer performs worse than i5 2500K while consumes as much power as i7 3930K. This chip is the worst IT failure of our century.
Good investment for the future civilian software is no where near what this processor was designed for in time this will blow Intel out of the water props AMD forget Intel ill always be an AMD and just got awesome deal on Micro Center your eight core and a free M5A97 two companies I love when it comes to computer parts.
Intel faggots, the problem is not with the AMD 8-core (which is not as bad as intel fags try to put it)but it's with Windows7 which can't run the cores as they should. I'm sure MS is on the fix soon. So keep all those intel 2500k as they are worthless.

@juggernautxtr I heard of that too, but AMD should have tested there product with all current OS and software before releasing it. It is a first gen of this architecture so mistakes are possible, I remember when Intel released hyper threading and it did not play well with Windows XP/2000. Ivy/SandyE is definitely looking good (Not too happy with RAM on both sides of CPU idea) and AMD Deneb/Thuban had trouble keeping up with Lynfield/Gulftown. But AMD cannot make these mistakes if they want crown

try overclocking your 8 core AMD thing to 8.5Ghz then you may stand a chance against a 2600k lol
Making things multithreaded isn't that easy, To put it simple there are often parts of software that can't be executed in parallel, hence why we still, 6 years or more since the dual core went mainstream, have single-threaded tasks in our everyday computing lives.
Multiple cores are good but why couldn't they at least keep the IPC performance of the Phenom II series like they said they would?
What we have right now from team AMD is garbage, and that does not make me happy.
@Wokiis there's a huge scheduling issue in bd right now with 7 it's trying to assign cores in order. 0,1,2,3 etc...
BD is supposedly supposed to assign every other core first say 0,2,4 etc... primary cores fist, this is whats causing slow single threading, possibly causing the cache thrashing noticed and constant re-fetching of code.
IPC did go up. the 2 integers in a module are only equal to one normal Intel integer core.where do you think the heat is coming from?
Even though Sandy Bridge is cheaper and scores better than AMD for price vs performance...i will still buy AMD. AMD need to stay in the show, they need our help to stay in the picture. Fuck Intel, I own an i7 950 but I really want AMD back in the game, I remember a time when AMD was kicking intels ass with the 64FX chips. I hope this turns the tables as it seems that AMD are really stepping up their game this time. For all the people moaning that Ivybridge will be better, so what? I bet the AMD chips will be much better bang for the buck. Intel has some serious catching up to do though when it comes to the A8 APU vs Intel HD graphics in the cpu's though :) AMD is owning there.

@defcon2XX8 they are! check out the Asus mobos! the AMD 990 chipsets give you both 3-way SLI or 3-way CrossfireX in AM3+ socket
that said, of course other mobos manufacturers also have the AMD 990 chipset... but i do love Sabertooth and Crosshair
also the Asus M4N98TD EVO gives you Sli capacity, the chipset is nvidia nForce 980a SLI (dual x16) but it's socket AM3
