songsmirth is absolutely right. there is usually nothing honorable about war itself, since it's always done for economic or powerhungry reasons. but being in it doesn't mean you can't be as honorable as possible. that's basically sharpe. just take a look at how everything and everyone around him is portrayed as scheming, underhanded, deceitful, ruthless and oppressive. nothing good or true about war. not when the people in power are greedy criminals. that's just the way it is.

@bamf09sigep USMC from jan 15 1981 to aug 24 2004.. and i was only speaking of the last 2 wars in which i served and not the many other engagements of the years. but to name em.. iraq- afghanastan- gulfwar- panama- grenada- beriut x2.. and other minor incidents not to be named.
