That sure was a HUGE auction. Some of those machine seemed really cheap for what you seem to be getting. $150 for a Street Fighter 2 machine seems very reasonable to me. I'd definitely get one at that price if there was a place like that near me.
original after burner arcade cabinet for $250. WOW what a reasonable price! see 11:34. then you also have street fighter 2 for $150. i have never seen one for sale that cheap, either private or commercial. what a bargain! see 9:42 - i also saw an original 1987 double dragon cabinet there!
The "WTH is that" machine at 12:20 is a prize drop game. I don't remember fully but i think you have to line up the blue squares. I see them a lot in shopping centres (in the UK). I think that one's by SEGA, they usually have SEGA branded items like MP3/Video players and MP3 player sunglasses (no joke!). They don't give out prizes freely. I spent probably too much once trying to win an Atari Flashback.
I had no idea that those arcade cabinets would still be worth so much.
What about faulty processors (especially the older/lesser common ones, like the MC68000 and Z80), for example, are spare parts still produced? Do some of these cabinets come with service contracts, or so? Are firmware updates provided? What about the newer machines, can they be linked (i.e. in a LAN) for accounting, score keeping and such?
A game that'd interest me is Die Hard Arcade. Have you seen it (lately)?
@eMGeeGFX These games are as is and come with no warranty. That is the price you pay for a 20 year+ arcade machine. Many of the buyers are enthusiasts and know a little something about the Z80 and of course there are dedicated sites on the internet to help with repairs. These machines were never meant to be hooked up via LAN, though that would be interesting. I have not see a Die Hard is a long time.
No i am afraid mate, the stupid goverment since the end of 90`s banned ALL arcade machines as they declared they where harmefull for children ,typical sorry for the french BS!so no more arcades here i am afraid, damn country i live :( it just royally sucks!
Oh man, I would love to have that Bubbles machine at home. I don't know if it normally goes for that much, but if I was there and had $500 in my pocket, it would have been an instant impulse buy.
You dont know how deep is my envy to you guys... Here in Spain we dont dare even to DREAM with one event like this one... in the entire country... how sad...
I'm 20 minutes into this video so far, and some of the arcades seem priced sky high. I have a better condition Ms. Pac-Man that the first one you showed that I paid $400 for last year. Overall though, they seem fairly priced. It's interesting to see what an auction looks like, as I've gotten my 7 arcades through craigslist.
That was awesome, thanks for sharing this with us, I would really have spent some money if I had the chance to go to something like that, a perfect day out.
some years ago every coffe had 1 or 2 arcades but now they are almost extinct, only a few machines in big shopping malls and they are all in REALY bad shape...
Also we dont have auctions, yard sales, flea markets, salvation army and any other place were you (americans) buy cheap ass games... the only thing is if we have luky, maybe we find some cool games at pawn shops but that is rare too and the video games shops know theyr price.
That Street Fighter looks tempting at $150 but I bet it has a lot of miles on it. Oooo a Robocop, I want that. Mortal Kombat 2 is definitely a game I'd make room for. Adams Family a great pinball game but $7500 yowza. Family Guy not the greatest pinball but I think its a lot of fun. Ultracades plenty of my favourites in those. Black Tiger & Rastan, nice. I'd probably take advantage of the "Buy It Now" option more often than not. Fun virtual tour Mr. Pio. :D
Loved the video !! Awesome auction and great prices !!! and I thought arcade games were expensive and only rich people could have them LOL !!! I'm happy now,I can afford one if I want to buy one. :P
@MAMECADE At 12:22 that game is called "Stacker" it is really fun and every time I see one I always try it out. It also could have some really cool prizes such as 3DS or DSi or PSP or iPod or iPhone ect.
Ahh, another freaking awesome arcade auction video! And quite a lengthy one too! Gonna grab some food and sit down to watch this one, I love these kinda things.
@phreakindee Hope you enjoyed watching it. It was interesting to see the Buy it now prices vs. the auction prices (43:00) on these machines. Helluva drive though....

I probably would pay $500 for a Donkey Kong in that condition :) So yes I would just buy the one I wanted if the price was reasonable, otherwise very nice place to wait for your item to come up in the auction and looks like most people got a bargain on the buy it now price.
