  • meh.

  • that had nothing to do with bobbing apples but it was still great.

  • "did you dig the hole"

"No, but i filled it in." I think that is my favorite part. VERY well done... i've always loved this submission.

  • Not bad, lol

  • well done !!

  • that was quite bizarre. I loved it!!

  • Not quite sure what I just watched but it was very well acted and directed...must, say, however that it left me wondering what the heck was that all about anyway?

  • I love this short! Who directed it and how do I get ahold of them??? I would love to be in one of this companies films. Please get back to me if you can! That song is familiar too??! I think it is in a commercial for shampoo???

  • What song was used from 6:06 onwards?

    Please somebody help!

  • its a loop from the apple program called Garage band, the title of the song is Pendulum

  • cool but ya the whole clown costume was wierd

  • alright a few questions: 1, it seems like you get a lot of tracking shots from low angles - do you use a skateboard or something?; 2, in the slow motion foot tracking shot you transfer from regular to slow motion in the same take - did you film it in 720p/60p and change it in editing?; 3, do you use a pulldown?, do you recommend it?; 4, do you own a steadicam or are you just very good at maintaining a steady shot?

  • this is one of my favorite shorts!

  • hey, what mic did you use for this?

did you do a lot of audio in post?

  • the guy is in "Memory Keeper's Daughter"

  • <3s for all HVX200 users. That said, Good film. The mom's acting was horrible. The dude wasnt much better, but the clown girl... she actually had talent. If the guy is a friend of yours, i reccomend studying Meisner if he wants to seem believable.

  • terrible acting by mother. does not even fit into the scenario. She seems fake.

  • That Was Awesome,

    But Very Sad,

But It Made Me Laugh At Times Aswell Tho (y)

  • oh i totally get it now.....awesome video...sorry it took me 5.5years to understand it:)

  • hey that's smart, i do that all the time! (not kill dogs intentionally, but cause some other types of tragic losses to get closer to people)

  • nevermind, i thought it would have been interesting if it was intentional.. my mistake (i thought she dug the hole ahead of time..)

  • I dont understand why its called "bobbing" for apples when no one bobs for anything.

  • at 1:43 or so, her mom talks about bobbing for apples

  • i realize that but thats hardly significant.

  • why is she a clown?

  • it says in the description that it was during halloween.

  • why isn't anyone else dressed up though?

  • dont ask stupid questions

  • lol

  • GREAT!

  • 5/5 :) just a tip if u would be making a future movie/video like this, when she cried you should try to show her makeup come off. great vid

  • that was awesone

  • Story is clever - exposing Mom's limits, daughter's behaviors and brother's desire to smooth the path

  • OH WOW!? i think the guy is the actor from the tim hortons commercial about the hockey brothers, and i think the girl is kaitlin from the OC!?!

  • The guy is from a Tims Horton and some Rogers Canadian ads. He's from northern Ontario. WOOT!

    Pretty good video too.

  • Dude I think I know the guy. Does he live in Kitchener?

  • ..Nevermind, I was thinking of a different Tim Hortons ad.

  • very good video

  • What the Hell??

Is that the guy from the Tim Hortons Commercials...

    good vid...

  • how did u do the cut? or was it real?

  • These actors are pretty good too.

  • there were a lot of wes anderson moments in this film. Loved it!

  • Wow, you have a nack for shooting shorts! Your camera work was super good!

  • super well

  • Filming = Awesome

    Acting = Could be better

  • That clown is hot as hell!

  • Great film! The acting was great, and rarely let me fall out of the moment, while the directing was good. Had the characters been a couple years younger I think this story really would have closed an odd the gap in the story, since kids seem to share a large bond with their animals when in adolescence (although their age and the clown suit added this funny touch that even offered much to the story later with the mom). The ending even felt like a Wesley Anderson film! My Congrats!

  • pretty good

  • Well done, interesting video. Nice camerawork and acting. And that guy is hot btw :o

  • Can you spot the butterfly?????????????????

  • Okay.... so did they bury the dog in a hole THAT HE DUG!?!?!?!?

That's awesome and creepy at the same time!!!

  • bwan wahn...

  • cryyy clown,cryyyy

    sorry,I had to do that...

but it was a great video

  • how was that supposed to be comedic?

  • good stuff

  • ya know, it's not the concept that was awesome. it was how well it was done.

  • ok a little weird...its just a dog...but it was good.

  • that was so stupid

  • There's a kid in my school named Dudly.

  • ummmm poor dudley? this is depressing as hell but hilarious!!

  • im crying!!!he died!!!!no!!!!!not fair!!!!!

  • I really enjoyed this.

  • i keep on comming back and watching this again, its really well done. i love the almost awkward silence at the end

  • why was she in the clown costume...

  • that is the most disfunctional family i have ver seen

  • that was really good!

  • I wonder if he banged her in that cown costume

  • did she do that to her arm on purpose

  • hey was this about the series 310?

  • Wow! it's really funny because she's like in the clown costume the whole entire time! LOL

you guys are really good actors!! what video camera did you guys use? what video editing software did you use? plz reply

  • i reali like the ending

  • dudley got run over....

    ...by a car.

  • the ending has a very wes anderson feel about it, like the end of the royal tenambaums, the comming together of the members of a dysfunctional family caused by then passing of a loved one...

  • SHINANIGANS.. the word i hear from most of the videos ive seen from project direct.. why!?

  • 'cause the videos of the project must contain the phrase "I demand an explanation for these shenanigans! What do you have to say?".

  • They also had to deal with a situation above one of the main character's maturity levels, and one of the characters had to pass a photograph to another character.

  • hhaha it was good!!

except i don't think the title for the video matches the video, but still, very good! you shouldve been one of the winners

  • May I ask what score/song you used for the last

  • minute or so?

  • Great video! It really does show that a rainbow (maybe the colours of the clown costume?) really does come after the storm. Be sure to make more videos!

  • Did you dig the hole? No, but I filled it in. Could the hole represent the distance between Mom and daughter? Filling the hole could represent bridging the gap between them. Dougley is what brings them together. This short film actually has some deep meaning. Any thoughts?

  • One other thing. The halloween costume could represent the fact that prior to the ending of the film, the daughter felt ignored by her mother and it could have been a way to stand out and get attention. Just another thought.

  • Wow. Nice analysis! Those are all pretty much right on. Nice comment.

  • Awesome! Great vid by the way. Thanks for the reply! Is there anything I missed?

  • i dont get it - why is she a clown?? and what's the deal with the apples?

  • These are Halloween traditions: dressing up in costumes and bobbing for apples

  • I signed in to youtube to tell you you've got fantastic colors! Not just the clown, but autumn, the sun, the sky, etc. + acting and beautiful camera work! Thanks for this nice peace.

  • The camera following the feet in the beginning was a very cool shot.

  • Wait a second! The dogs not dead! You see it running around in the background at the beginning. That's random.

The clown make up was excellent though!

  • well, the dog at the background is a random dog. "Dougly" is supposed to be the furry thing on the left fore-ground during the first scene.

  • Er.. was it suppose to bring any moral value?

  • urmm..i dont get the whole story. errr...

  • @toasterflag: the dog prob dug the hole.

Anyways, this film was weird. I mean, well made, but well made weirdness.

  • So, the name at first made me think it was an amateur film, and it was only because this was a Project: Direct that I watched it.

But after watching it, wow, this was amzaing.

And, I'd made me think about my guinea pig.

  • Poor doggy. :'(

  • "did you dig the hole?"

"no, but i filled it in" ? i dont get it. seriously . fill me in.

  • the do

  • the dog digged the hole, and then she filled it in

  • I think the dog dug the hole

  • i loved it!

  • That is odd, but interesting...

  • I'm sorry but I did not like it..

  • Grade: B -

  • Yeaaaahhh..VERY WEIRD!

  • ooouu great

  • hey it's the guy from the tim horton's commerical! moving up in the world....

  • lol

  • Cool i really like it!

    Check mine out watch?v=g1ax_aN_XPo

  • who is "dudley" what the crap

  • there doggy....

  • Five bucks says you're a fan of Wes Anderson... ;)

  • what kind of camera did you use because it has really good slow motion

  • lol dudley dug his own hole

  • excellent excellent work

    amazing ending

    "did you dig the hole?"

"no, but i filled it in"

  • this is brilliant. the crying clown, a classic. the writing, the directing, the acting, all fabulous. this should have won the competition.

  • aww cute. poor dog. i wanna have a dog like that. haha. :)

  • a couple strange closeups, but besides that, technically wonderful, and the story was really nicely written too. great job, overall. keep it coming.

  • the end was my favourite part.. loved the line, "no, but i filled it in." really good video, especially for youtube!

  • good camera angles

    check out my vids

  • um good camera work... =)

  • Hmm..the clown-girl is sweet..she has a nice hip..:D

  • COOL.

And I have a MOM, not a mum, so this doesn't apply to me.

  • Great work!! Keep it going. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

  • Acting was above and beyond what we're used to on these "exclusively for youtube" productions. Great work!

  • damn that's so cool she dyed her big ass curly hair! What a tripper! Such cool stuff.

  • I'm pretty sure that's a wig.

  • Royal Tenenbaums anyone?

  • I actually cried. Fantastic job!

  • This seems more like a serious drama than a comedy.

  • excellent

    ignore these half-assed idiotic comments

    it was awesome

  • That was wonderfully disturbing.

  • good film, i wouldn't call it a comedy though...

especially good acting on the part of the daughter

  • The last line was touching. 5 stars.

  • ok?

  • this was good, but it wasn't a comdey.

  • beautiful!

  • how is this bobbing for apples

  • Shes a clown. You should of painted the boy as a mime. hes wearing the right shirt.

  • can someone repeat the jokes please i dont understand which ones they were

  • I love my dog... I dont know what I would do if anything happened to him.

That is an amazing movie. I almost cried!

  • I thought this was really good.

  • huh?

  • so the dog dug the whole right?

  • Excillant. I love the very last lines. :D Bravo and well done.

  • What vision! The first AD on this film must be brilliant!

  • Congratulations!

    Bizarre and Brilliant!!

    Kudos!!

  • Every time a dog dies I get so upset

  • Good movie.. BUT WHY USE MUSIC FROM SOUDTRACK !

  • anti-climax ....was waiting for it to 'take off', but sadly it never did! Good acting though.
