Ok dude thank you, umm i went back to website and dindt see tabs for this one instead i saw another 1 uhave posted with pull offs and pull ons think u cna send me tabs for this lick plz? I mtrying to learn it but need tabs ty
I use one finger per fret here so index on 5 ring on 7 and pinky on 8. Sometimes I'll use index on 5, second finger on 7 and ring on 8. Really personal prefernce and what works for you. Hope that helps. Cheers.
I like the natural minor scale, the dorian mode and using notes from the major scale on occasion to color the pentatonic scale. In my opinion though your ears should be the final arbiter - play licks you like the sound of.
i think its a matter of opinion personally. if you look at guitarists like paul gilbert and steve vai, they are almost religious when it comes to scales (vai is more modes than scales), while other guitarists like marty friedman actually sat down and made their own scales to match what they wanted to hear. it pretty much just up to you and what you really want to do with your playing.
Aeolian ( or minor scale) is relative minor corresponding to the 6th degree of the major scale. So F Major goes F G A Bb C D E F so F Major and D Minor are the same notes. So the Key of this is D Minor. The D Minor scale has its own pattern of intervals which is basically a D major scale but with a flat 3rd, flat 6th and flat seventh. So a D Major scale is D E F# G A B C# D and a D Minor scale has a flat 3 6 and 7 so that is D E F G A Bb C D.
Great, I'm slowly understanding it, but just to make 100% sure. So the Ionian would be F major the Dorian would be G minor Prygian A minor, lydian Major, mixo-lydian dominate, aeolian minor, locrian 1/2 diminished?
Ok now your into a different area. When your dealing with the basics of stacked third harmony the harmonized major scale does give you a Major, Min7, Min7, Major7, Dominant Seventh, Minor7 & Min7 flat5. The choice of scales over these is more depth than I can get into here but one option for example is a G Dorian over a Gmin7 chord and then C Mixolydian over the dominant C7.
no that doesn't corrrespond as far as I know -I really haven't studied the minor modes in detail - you hear references to the modes of the harmonic minor scale in jazz sometimes.

@ CaptainAshra, Modes ARE scales. Ionian is major. Aoelian is minor...etc.

ah ok. So I understand the relative minors. Are the minor modes the same shape as the major modes i.e C ionian is Am ionian?
