  • amazing...

  • No way man... go listen to The Mars Volta, or Queen, or even Coheed and Cambria.

  • @DemonInJerseyCity Listen to Jeff Buckley?

  • @toymasheenSH Listen to Vitas - opera 2 and then decide who's the best..

  • Jeff is my favorite, but I certainly like the way Jon Anderson of Yes sang.

  • if you're looking for high notes and beautiful voice then check out jeff buckley's versions of DIDOS LAMENT and CORPUS CHRISTI CAROL and then compare him to others

  • Jeff may not the highest, but to me the most beautiful tones, and nicest sounding voice

  • definitely tom waits

  • I read that he is classified as a 'light lyric tenor'...and despite the height of his voice, it is more the beautiful quality it has that renders me breathless and sends me out of this world.

  • Claudio Sanchez :D

  • MC Chris tops all bro

  • @BuzzOf94 lol

  • Buckley's voice is supreme among men's voices in my opinion though. His is the bridge between the contralto voice and a tenor voice... He even sounds like a Nina Simone without the cigarettes.

  • :] My voice is actually higher than Jeffys... I'll sound like him by the time I'll be 35. I sound like Chang Yu-Sheng...

  • wtf was that

  • @RedneckRampageisloud something you'll never understand

  • best singer ever

  • 1:01 "booo ba we bup so bup" fav part

  • best part of this song. haha he can scat like an absolute legend. and to me he has the best voice in the world. honestly, who is better.. he sang a nusrat song! and it sounded better than nusrat! he could do anything.

  • haha I've heard that Nusrat cover!

  • Cedric Bixler Zavala is higher. Claudio Sanchez is pretty high and really good. Thom Yorke too.

  • @DemonInJerseyCity Thom yorke?not even close ..

  • Claudio Sanchez and Micheal Jagmin.

  • Claudio Sanchez

  • Jeff is the best, I think. Technically highly prepared and very, VERY intense

  • @BeeSideProject

    "...well prepared, and very intense"

I like that. Well said, what more could ears and hearts ask for?

  • @BeeSideProject Vitas is the best ;) check his opera 2 ;)

  • highest voice? you obviously never heard of anthony green

  • @ElLapiz24 alright I'm changing the title

  • John Frusciante > *

  • hell yes

  • @toymasheenSH haha nice, i still like anthony green though

  • @toymasheenSH i love anthony green but buckley goes WAY higher

  • @ElLapiz24 anthony would be embarrassed that you would assume he's better than jeff at hitting high notes.

  • wtf when did this get 3,640 views?

  • his voice isn't that high...

  • @DemonInJerseyCity listen to Corpus Christ Carol by jeff buckley and say that again

  • well yes his voice was able of doing 5octaves

  • @DemonInJerseyCity do you even KNOW his range? The notes he could hit? lol You're jus' trollin', man. lol

  • God that's incredible some singers can hit the same high notes or even higher but I can't think of one who had the range along with having such a beautiful voice of Buckley.

  • I only know of one, the british legend that is Nick Harper (son of Roy Harper). Him and Jeff are neck and neck, there's some of him on here check it out.

Both of them are my most favourite vocalists

  • VITAS!!!!

  • why would you like music cause it's high.. ¬¬

  • I like him because he sounded good :P

  • you can't leave Jimmy Gnecco of the band Ours out of this argument whether your talking straight chest range(which is one of the most powerful i've ever heard) or falsetto, Gnecco has some serious chops. Reference the song "Broken" to get a good idea of the nuts ass high notes he can hit.

Also don't forget Jónsi Birgisson of Sigur Ros. gong is a good reference of his high notes. He basically is singing in falsetto constantly though.

  • I agree Jimmy Gnecco can reach high notes but they dont sound as clear as Jeff's high notes, they sound forced and distorted. And Sigur Ros's falsetto actually isnt as high as it sounds. I say Jeff Buckley is the champ :)

  • Jeff's definetly my fav, but I think Steve Perry goes higher

  • Cedric doens't use a vocal processor you dolt. Listen to him live. It's on pitch, and natural. Quite obviously.

  • Listen to some power metal, male vocals get incredibly high ;)

  • yeah. Iced earth /:

  • I was thinking more Helloween

  • Listen to angel of death by slayer best high male vocals in metal.

  • "substantial guilt vs. the irony of enjoying" ion dissonance

  • lol try "dark trail by the fall of troy" he gets it scarily high.

oh yeah and i love the lyrics to this song ;)

  • In "the dark trail", he sings those high tones in falsetto, but kinda tough anyways, Thomas Erak is a very good singer as well as guitarist.

  • anthony green?

    craig owens?

    rody walker?

    Cedric Bixler-Zavala?

    Claudio sanchez?

  • cedric uses a vocal processor

  • love anthony green, he's my choice

mix of good highs and falsettos and so effortless

  • cedric

  • I'm sure there are loads of men who can sing higher than Jeff Buckley. However, there are fewer who have a voice as beautiful as his... Still what's the big deal with who has the highest voice??? As someone has said countertenors sing in that register all the time...It seems peculiar that it's such an obsession...

  • agreed 100%

  • @barryhawk23 Jeff did sing countertenor. Not always, mind you, but utilized his voice in such a fashion, that he possessed the ability to reach the notes of that range in either natural or falsetto. But yeah, higher certainly doesn't equate with better. :) But...Jeff was "it", wasn't he?

  • I never knew you made a Buckley video. Stop hiding your secrets from me.

  • Jeff is awesome no matter what. And most men his age can not sing this high. It is documented his voice and control of it was unusual.

  • what about that faggot from coheed

  • A good countertenor sings in that range all the time. Way back in the day (17th Century) they use to castrate promising young singers to keep their young soprano voice.

    *shooting star*

    The More You Know

  • HOLY FUCK ARE YOU SERIOUS?! :|

  • Hmmm... Your good at arguing. =0

  • What about Rob Halford.... Lol.

  • what about King Diamond

  • WHAT ABOUT SHUTTING THE HELL UP!

    :3

  • Holy crap that's pretty high. And higher than Geddy Lee, despite what people say, though Geddy Lee's high sounds much better IMO.

  • Buckley doesn't have the highest male voice, there are people like Adam Lopez that can reach the whistle register lolll

But I love Buckley regardless, fantastic vocallist.

Oh and I'm not sure, but I think his highest note is in the song Gunshot Glitter from Sketches.., it sounds like it was hit by accident though lol.

  • yeah but would you buy a whole album by Adam Lopez?

  • @wetsand2008 I love that note he hits on Gunshot Glitter. Love it. I don't think Jeff hit any notes by accident. More like he thought the note in his mind and out it popped. :)

  • OMG I HAV A HIGHER voys and i'm onlee 12 omg lolol.

  • lol

  • not as high as Geddy Lee

  • you're right it doesn't sound anywhere as bad as Geddy Lee.

  • lol or Robert Plant but Robert Plant sounds good with his high voice

  • so does Jeff Buckley check out the song Grace.

  • sounds pretty good he sounds like Thom Yorke

  • Thom Yorke wrote Fake Plastic Trees after seeing Jeff Buckley

  • yea wouldnt that be awsome if they have Radiohead DLC but Neversoft and HMX like to be hatas

  • That would be pretty cool.

  • Check out Jonas Bjerre in Mew.

    Listen to Mew - 156

    Really high vocals.

  • Jon Anderson

  • What about Matthew Bellamy? listen to Showbiz or Micro Cuts and you'll see why I mentioned him =p

  • Citizen Erased 0_0

  • barry whites gotta be up there too

  • LAWL

  • He's not that high. But he's good at transitioning between Chest voice and Falsetto. He's using falsetto which can produce a MUCH higher register. Even I can hit those notes somewhat and I'm not a vocalist.

  • I want to hear you hit that note >_>

  • Yeah, his transition into what I would rather call Head voice is pretty flawless on that track.

  • Jared Wiley is very high.

  • lol, I actually work with that guy.

  • WTF?

  • Is his voice that high when he talks?

  • Yep, I'm sure everyone has seen his American Idol vid, his voice is exactly like that when he talks outloud. (talking about Jared Wiley btw, not the guy in this video)

  • I don't believe that.

  • Jeff Buckley's singing reminds me of Robert Plant for some reason.

  • umm, what about Michael Jackson

  • Yeah he's up there

  • i think geddy lee might be higher.

  • he is

  • facepalm

  • Vitas has the highest I've heard.

  • The backup singer in Alesana and the new Skylit Drive singer is way too high.

  • there's a difference between singing high for the sake of singing high and what Jeff Buckley did though.

  • vocal hax
