BUT....took way longer to fix cuz the volvo repair network is non-existant, and where there is one, they are backed up and not open weekends, etc...

its the only truck i want to drive, but not a good truck to own.

Not true. I dont regret buying a long nose Classic XL and 2 of my childhood buddies have new Pete 379s(well 07 but they bought them brand new) and love them too. Everyone has their preferences and if its your home away from home, Why not make the best of it. The most important thing is earning a living, but it is also nice to have a nice home on wheels too.

What the fuck? I've towed just as many peterbilts and kenworths as any other truck... well except mack. wanna know what I drive??? a 1981 Freightliner. I also own a 1962 peterbilt. Freightliner is made by Chrysler and Volvo is Volvo. It's not the name that counts to me as much as it is the engine, Tranny and rear end setup. My trucks both have Cummins engines and my 79 GMC Brigadier has a 6-71 Detroit. Caterpillar is my main problem. It's not so much the truck as what's in the truck.

cummins motors are optional on Volvos, dunno what the button is that yer speaking of...could be the cummins version of an engine brake

ICON is the computer info interface (I think?) for Cummins engines.... might be wrong! On the topic of Cummins engines on Volvos, we have had the Cummins N14 525 and the 565 and 580 Signatures optionally fitted to some Volvo trucks in Australia since 2001 and still continued into the new series FH! With the NH(as it was called here and what you call the VN) we also had 18 speed RoadRangers as part of the fitment of these engines!

LTL is where its at, we have built up some good accounts ranging to about 5-8 dollars a mile. All takes time to build a base. Me my uncle and my father do all the accounts ourselves. Rake in 200k easy.

Bloody yanks? If you had a clue you would know that American made Volvos all come with Eaton unsynchronized transmissions. Volvo did offer their 14 speed manual but it didn't work out. I don't think it was offered after 1999-2000. Before you open your ignorant mouth read up mr know it all.

Its very simple. Eaton's are almost the standard here like ZF is in Europe. Its easy to find parts and people who know how to work on those transmissions. Plus I believe it was an option on Volvo engines which weren't popular at the time. In the end they didn't sell enough and discontinued it. They do offer the i-shift though which is buttery smooth compared the Eaton's auto. Besides Eaton's have had millions put on them too. So its kinda pointless to say one is better than the other.
