If the smoker had been able to buy a spliff legally in the off licence or the pharmacy or in some other regulated establishment, they would never have established any access whatsoever to those other, harder drugs.
Thus, if the Government is truly worried about cannabis's gateway potential, then surely legalization is the obvious solution. If this happened, it is plausible to expect that fewer cannabis users would move on to use drugs that actually do pose a threat to their health and wellbeing

For the sake of argument, let's say marijuana in it's current state IS a gateway drug. If so, its it's illegality that makes it a gateway drug! People are retarded if they can't make the connection that putting the sale of marijuana in the same hands that sell cocaine and heroin is what moves people on to those drugs. If the dealer is out of weed, or can give a better deal on something else, or endorses some other drug is actually what makes it a "gateway drug".

If the smoker had been able to buy a spliff legally in the off licence or the pharmacy or in some other regulated establishment, they would never have established any access whatsoever to those other, harder drugs.
Thus, if the Government is truly worried about cannabis's gateway potential, then surely legalization is the obvious solution. If this happened, it is plausible to expect that fewer cannabis users would move on to use drugs that actually do pose a threat to their health and wellbeing
