I believe Iwata was quoted saying the Wii is suffering because of its lack of good games. I wish they had had some foresight when they were OKing all those terrible party games. The Wii really needs help. It has games like Brawl and Galaxy but Brawl wasn't as awesome as people would have you believe and Galaxy, as polished as it is, can only do so much.

well the wii has been inproving, more developers are actually taking it seriously, their are more shooters now which is good and no more heroes shows that using a katatna can be done well among other games that are finnaly geting it right
I think gimmicky, too full of child friendly franchises but thats its place in the gaming world. It has the cartoonish characters and franchises we all know from childhood and the shooters and overly violent games are put on the 360 and ps3 so nintendo dosn't have to ansew to soccer moms complaints. It kinda divides gaming between the new and the nostalgic, and if you don't like one you can try the other.
In a way nintendo were always like that, i refer to nintendo as 'the money whores" of the gameing community. Just cuz they remake everything, just to get more money. aka DS, DS Lite, DSi. Gameboy, gameboy advance, game boy sp, game boy micro :P.
Wii rocks if you get the right games. super smash bros brawl, metroid prime 3 corruption, star wars the force unleashed, batalion wars ii, and rock band n rock band 2.
sorry for a double post, but i forgot to mention, the wii was greatly cheaper then ps3 or xbox 360, only 269.99, compared to the xbox 360's lofty 299.99 FOR THE ARCADE SYSTEM, BASIC PACKAGE, and i wont even TOUCH the ps3 here. also as far as i can tell, wii systems sales are ROYALLY OWNING the other 2, and are nearly always sold out in stores. yet there is ALWAY ps3 and xbox 360's in stock... people just arent buying as many.
WII WASN'T MADE FOR killer graphics or awesome hardcore games. it NEVER crossed the minds of the staff at nintendo. the wii was made for the SOLE PURPOSE of bringing in game audiences that the XBOX and PS3 will NEVER be able to. there are Wiis in senior care homes for god damn's sake. when was the last time you saw a 90 year old lady playing Halo? i think the will is an excellent system. and dont call me a nintendo fanboy. i got a ps2 as well. im a Nintendo fan and really i hope the wii sports trilogy is done if i see another wii sports game at this years E3 im gonna go crazy .. cause they are pretty gimmicky games these days, im beginning to worry if games will be like that in 10 years time :( but the wii is bringing in great 3rd party's i really want to get for 09, this might be asking to much but i wouldn't mind seeing star fox and Kid Icarus bringing to life again at E3 09
I TOTALLY agree with the fact the wii was a little fun to start it was more interesting and intriguing overall but after about a month its like "... ok where the hell did i put that PS2/360" and the wii becomes no more than a really expensive room decoration.
In my opinion 360 and PS3/PS2 are owning the wii hands down I mean there games are so much better and they are things you can play for a long time without going insane.
Halo 3 and Gears of war 2. These make the 360 my holy grail.
I like the Wii a little bit, my only complaint is that the controler looks like TV remote. I can't tell you how many times I grab this is the dark accidently, and 3 second's later, and then realize the mistake I made.
You know what I say? I would agree with one thing, DCE. What Nintendo should do is make the New Super Mario Bros Games for the Wii, Including SMB4 with a different gimmick. Hell, At least it's better than nothing.
NO good games being released for the wii, one of the last games i am getting for the wii will be the conduit. I am planing to get a PS3 to play video games i actually like.
My issue with the Wii is that there aren't enough good games for it.Most of them are third party releases that aren't worth spending even 5 dollars on.Only reason I still have mine is cause I sold my GameCube,only decent thing I've done with it so far.
Oh,I know that there are some good games when you find them.But its true as to the majority being bad games.Its definitely hard to find some though thats for sure.
I don't hear about a fair few of the bad games though, cuz the magazine I get (Official Nintendo Magazine for the UK) doesn't review most of the rubbish third-party releases.
Well, one good thing is that I can play on all the old games I've missed out in the past, due to the lack of those consoles (even if there's Emulators, they're usually gotten on dodgey sites, and I try to get stuff more legaly. Plus, controls).
Some Wii games are actually good, but when I look at my game collection, there isn't alot. Lots of games that don't look good are being sold. I wish better games would come out.
Well, I'll be getting that new Castlevania game, expecting it to be decent.

i think tht they should re-make some of the n64 games or even better, REMAKE THE GOOD SONIC GAMES!!! From the Wii? It could use a standard control that still functions like a Wiimote. It has the power to make games different and unique. It can do thinks differently...
To me, the problem is that it has good games made crappy and nothing new. Sercet Rings could have been better without having to drive Sonic, Pokemon could have used a button or motion to dodge an attack and Mario & Sonic was fail when it was the official games. A game I liked with good use of motion and buttons was Paper Mario.

I'm just really tired of all these RPGS and party games that keep on coming out. If they made some shooters that arn't Metroid or Starfox, I might consider them. But I'm just sick and tired of RPGS mostly because I stink at them, and they do the same thing agian and agian, kinda like what you said about horror movies DCE.
If you want a Hardcore Game made by Nintendo on the Wii you should try Wario World: The Shake Demension (It is too easy and short though, even though I haven't beat it yet)
I got my Wii relatively late (last March), and yes, it's an incredible pieceof software. It has astounding capabilities, but you're right. They just don't do anything with it.
Same opinion on the Wii. It COULD be a good system,but their not doing anything with it!

I must say, the only Wii games that even look remotely interesting on the Wii this year and the next seem to be Deadly Creatures, MadWorld, and The Conduit... And they're all non-Nintendo, so they all have high levels of risk to them...
As for a franchise that needs to be picked up... Geist. The game was created relatively recently, but had the shooting been better and the scaring more exciting, it'd be awesome to play. Also, Eternal Darkness, Kid Icarus, Earthbound, Donkey Kong, and...
One more thing. One thing Nintendo has never been good at was delivering a great and deep story that wasn't a JRPG (although, once you've played Chrono Trigger and Earthbound, you've experienced the best you can do with the genre).
I'd love to see a deep and thrilling story that wasn't rehashed from one of the few narrative successes Nintendo has had... (i.e: Zelda). Also... add some good voice-acting... srsly, it seems they're scared of it nowadays.
When I said Earthbound, it was because of the game's humour. As for Chrono Trigger, it practically invented all the cliches, so it's perfectly fine to ignore them when judging the game. Earthbound was hilariously funny with its dialogue, but like the Mario RPGs, but that's all the Mario RPGs deliver... humour (cept for the recent one, which I wouldn't even call an RPG). So, instead of outlay a bunch of humourous RPGs, I mentioned the one that was the best... IMO, anywai.
Y'know, I just thought of something. Maybe Nintendo won't try new things because they're afraid of people griping about it. I mean look at what Rare is doing with the newest Banjo-Kazooie. They wanted to try something different with the franchise other than make another game like the 64 titles and thus Nuts and Bolts was given the whole vehicle building concept. Doesn't mean that they had to make a lousy Wii Sports sequel for it. If I were Nintendo, I would've made a new Pilotwings game to use the Wii Motion Plus on. Now that's a franchise that hasn't seen the light of day in years: Pilotwings.
The wii doesnt really have any potential. The ps3 and 360 both have been evolving (Playstation home, 360 new dashboard), but the seems to be standing still. It may have seem to be a great system at first, but the mor you play it, you will realize that its just a remodeled gamecube with motionn controls.

Have you played Drill Dozer for the GBA? that game is published by nintendo. and it has a interesting twist on platforming. If you want something new from nintendo. Get that.
With the nintendo wii being one the only systems i can call my own i feel disappointed at times. I mean, the only game i play on it is brawl and THAT's starting to wear thin. They have their shining moments (no more heroes, Warioland:shake it!,LOZ:Twilight Princess), but they're few and far between.

The wii is good, but I have to agree to with this guy to some extent (although im not as passionate as him). Atm im trying to save money and there are a lot more xbox games tempting me then there are wii games. I love my wii, but right now there isnt much to look forward to. As for games id like to see, I think it would be cool to have a full fledged pokemon rpg on the wii, like they did with colosseum on GC, or even remade the original red or blue on wii.

Also thank you for acknowledging that Sonic (despite his recent setbacks) is doing something that mario isn't: trying something new. Let's face it, mario is starting to fall from grace. The last main title I can honestly say was his best was Mario 64, anything after that just wasn't up to par.
Alot of people complain about the Wii's third party games. I agree. Many need to be better, but some are shining gems. I also think it isn't the hird party developers' fault. Because of the motion, everyone wants to use it to make a good game. This results in gimmiky movements, and drag down the game's experience. Many people also complain about the Wii's graphics. I think the graphics are fine, they don't try to be good. In fact, I think the graphics are amazing for all features the Wii has.

I agree with you on everything except having higher hopes. I always thought that was Nintendo's game plan: fun sports games+cash cow franchises and running both in to the ground. I might be an Xbox and PC fanboy, but that was the vibe I had. I know that was the stratigy with the N64 but I think Gamecube was the same to a lesser degree.

well at least nintendo is doing something right with bringing punch out back. But I do agree, the Wii is a console that sounded like the best thing ever, the third party develpores started half assing games and porting them. Nintendo on the other hand is at least making games that are fun (though the story is a load of shit) I feel that Nintendo has to set a good example for other developers to follow, or everyone could just follow the capcom route and make some damn 8-bit games.

I had a Wii, but I sold it because I needed some cash and it was my least used system. Agreed, the novelty has worn off and it's bogged down with shovel-ware. For every one good game for the Wii, there are 20 other games that are licensed titles (Naruto, Bleach, Avatar), ports with Wii-motions tacked on, or just plain uninspired. Super Swing Golf was one of my favorites and you could try Elobits for a quirky shooter, but the truly innovative games we were promised are very few and far between.
When I got the Wii, it was awesome because there were so many new games. Now, there's just...crap. I want some good stuff. They're just putting out useless shit. Get some good 3rd party games or something. I haven't bought a new Wii game in 7 months. And yes, shooting games would be great. I know that the Wii is for all ages and they want to get a wide range of age groups but the people who want the games to be good are the largest group. It's not all old people having nothing better to do.

Sonic's a great character but all his new games suck. When a good Sonic game comes out, I might say that Mario and Sonic are on the same level. But believe me, my fingers are crossed for the new Sonic game to be good.

To be honest, I like the wii system, but the games made are kinda a let down, and to be honest I wish they brought back some decent racing games that does not involve mario...

In my opinion the only good games the Wii has are Super Paper Mario, SSBB, and RE:umbrella chronicles. It does have the Virtual Console, which I have around 20 games on, but they don't count as Wii games now do they.

I pretty much agree, the wii is capable of so much, but at e3 I was hoping they would have more along the lines of the more graphical games. Mad World actually shows promise, but still. 3rd party developers seem to be in this mindset that all the system can dish out are party games, and WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THEM!!! Im tired of them shoving Wiifit and Wiisports down our throats.

I TOTALLY agree with the fact the wii was a little fun to start it was more interesting and intriguing overall but after about a month its like "... ok where the hell did i put that PS2/360" and the wii becomes no more than a really expensive room decoration.
In my opinion 360 and PS3/PS2 are owning the wii hands down I mean there games are so much better and they are things you can play for a long time without going insane.
Halo 3 and Gears of war 2. These make the 360 my holy grail.

Well, one good thing is that I can play on all the old games I've missed out in the past, due to the lack of those consoles (even if there's Emulators, they're usually gotten on dodgey sites, and I try to get stuff more legaly. Plus, controls).
Some Wii games are actually good, but when I look at my game collection, there isn't alot. Lots of games that don't look good are being sold. I wish better games would come out.
Well, I'll be getting that new Castlevania game, expecting it to be decent.

i think tht they should re-make some of the n64 games or even better, REMAKE THE GOOD SONIC GAMES!!! From the Wii? It could use a standard control that still functions like a Wiimote. It has the power to make games different and unique. It can do thinks differently...
To me, the problem is that it has good games made crappy and nothing new. Sercet Rings could have been better without having to drive Sonic, Pokemon could have used a button or motion to dodge an attack and Mario & Sonic was fail when it was the official games. A game I liked with good use of motion and buttons was Paper Mario.

I must say, the only Wii games that even look remotely interesting on the Wii this year and the next seem to be Deadly Creatures, MadWorld, and The Conduit... And they're all non-Nintendo, so they all have high levels of risk to them...

One more thing. One thing Nintendo has never been good at was delivering a great and deep story that wasn't a JRPG (although, once you've played Chrono Trigger and Earthbound, you've experienced the best you can do with the genre).
I'd love to see a deep and thrilling story that wasn't rehashed from one of the few narrative successes Nintendo has had... (i.e: Zelda). Also... add some good voice-acting... srsly, it seems they're scared of it nowadays.

When I said Earthbound, it was because of the game's humour. As for Chrono Trigger, it practically invented all the cliches, so it's perfectly fine to ignore them when judging the game. Earthbound was hilariously funny with its dialogue, but like the Mario RPGs, but that's all the Mario RPGs deliver... humour (cept for the recent one, which I wouldn't even call an RPG). So, instead of outlay a bunch of humourous RPGs, I mentioned the one that was the best... IMO, anywai.

The wii doesnt really have any potential. The ps3 and 360 both have been evolving (Playstation home, 360 new dashboard), but the seems to be standing still. It may have seem to be a great system at first, but the mor you play it, you will realize that its just a remodeled gamecube with motionn controls.

With the nintendo wii being one the only systems i can call my own i feel disappointed at times. I mean, the only game i play on it is brawl and THAT's starting to wear thin. They have their shining moments (no more heroes, Warioland:shake it!,LOZ:Twilight Princess), but they're few and far between.

The wii is good, but I have to agree to with this guy to some extent (although im not as passionate as him). Atm im trying to save money and there are a lot more xbox games tempting me then there are wii games. I love my wii, but right now there isnt much to look forward to. As for games id like to see, I think it would be cool to have a full fledged pokemon rpg on the wii, like they did with colosseum on GC, or even remade the original red or blue on wii.

Alot of people complain about the Wii's third party games. I agree. Many need to be better, but some are shining gems. I also think it isn't the hird party developers' fault. Because of the motion, everyone wants to use it to make a good game. This results in gimmiky movements, and drag down the game's experience. Many people also complain about the Wii's graphics. I think the graphics are fine, they don't try to be good. In fact, I think the graphics are amazing for all features the Wii has.

I had a Wii, but I sold it because I needed some cash and it was my least used system. Agreed, the novelty has worn off and it's bogged down with shovel-ware. For every one good game for the Wii, there are 20 other games that are licensed titles (Naruto, Bleach, Avatar), ports with Wii-motions tacked on, or just plain uninspired. Super Swing Golf was one of my favorites and you could try Elobits for a quirky shooter, but the truly innovative games we were promised are very few and far between.

So you being a goody little two-shoes and calling to say, "Oh, I just love your work. It's wonderful! Those others are just disgracful." But I must agree on what you said. It's nice that Sonic games have a good story and continue on into the next one.

That's cool that you like to draw. I do drawings as well. Cartoons majorly and have created my own characters. I'd like to get into animation one day too. And also, I'm sorry for laughing at your comment. Sega does make pretty good Sonic games.

To be honest, I like the wii system, but the games made are kinda a let down, and to be honest I wish they brought back some decent racing games that does not involve mario...

im a wii fan, but im not as impressed as i was when i first got it. if they would hurry and get earthbound on the virtual concole and bring out a new starfox game(like starfox64), i'll be happy again

I gotta say that it's pretty sad that most of the Wii's games are 3rd party, based of tv shows or movies, or new titles of old franchise.
Here's the other thing I don't understand, why doens't nintendo make an online Metroid shooter like they did in Hunters?
P.S. I think the princess has been kidnapped more around 40-50 times, seriously if I were her I'd be carrying a gun, or a taser, or a chainsaw.

In my opinion the only good games the Wii has are Super Paper Mario, SSBB, and RE:umbrella chronicles. It does have the Virtual Console, which I have around 20 games on, but they don't count as Wii games now do they.

diesnt bother me(i dont have awii) I dont have enough money even if i did have a ii, to get that many games, And i like mario, and the virtuall console, Right now i only own 3 GAMES and im fine with things staying the same,
and then theres, other games that are released on all 3 consoles, I would have enough money to bu the *latest and greatest* games, and im content with virtual console, and games i liek are game you can play over and over and onver, like the original mario games,nff saidXD

I pretty much agree, the wii is capable of so much, but at e3 I was hoping they would have more along the lines of the more graphical games. Mad World actually shows promise, but still. 3rd party developers seem to be in this mindset that all the system can dish out are party games, and WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THEM!!! Im tired of them shoving Wiifit and Wiisports down our throats.
