In this context, "devant" is not a spacial relation, but has the metaphorical meaning of "considering" or "regarding" and I wasn't sure how adequately "in front of" would convey this, so I chose "looking at" to be safer.

This is why it is always preferable to translate to one's first language...

Si je me fie à leur site officiel, ils ont fait au moins une vingtaine de concerts en France, et d'autres en Suisse et au pays basque (que je suppose distinct de la France et l'Espagne par support indépendantiste) des deux côtés de la frontière. Je sais qu'ils ont aussi fait des concerts en Ontario.

Je doute qu'il y ait quelqu'un qui se lève le matin en se demandant quoi faire pour éliminer le français, on y parle peu français car il n'y a pas vraiment de besoin de l'apprendre.

Let me just be clear. I do like the lyrics a lot. And of course the girl is a symbol of a depressing society. But unfortunately she is given a role of some sort of prophet, and this is somewhat clashing with the lyrics.

You say the girl is "the subject of the lyrics" - Will you like to show me where she is mentioned in the lyric then? (I dont think there is any evidence to conclude that the "I" is the girl of the video)

I think she lip-sincs merely to make her do something, not to mean she says the text herself: it's like she's showing herself at the camera singing, like any web-whore. It is clearly the voice of the singer and worse it would not make any sense told from her point of view.

So; is Les Vulgaires Machins are big band in Canada? I have never heard of them, but then again we don´t get a lot of music with french lyrics overhere in Denmark. Looks like an expensive production.

It's rather big in Quebec and they currently are under a big north american label, hence the clip. They have six albums and won prizes, but they never got out of Quebec so I'm not surprised no one has heard of them. I translate them precisely because I feel their social message is worth crossing the borders.

If you know any French, I suggest you any other song you can find of them on YT: particularily Puits sans fond, Compter les corps, and Dommage Collatéral, otherwise I might eventually translate them too, in addition to other groups which I find notable.
