Could you run crysis on a Vostro 1700?

I was thinking of getting this graphics card.

I know that FRAPS doesn't let the graphics card show it's full potential, but is there a way to show it with full FPS recording, so I can see how it looks exactly?

DAMN.... I have a Asus G2S gaming Laptop and I couldn't even run Quake 4 at full it would lag so bad.... and my Asus has the 8600M GT... What gives? Well I just found out on a video that the cause of my lag is not do to the graphic's card but the stupid CPU downclocking automatically causing my GPU to lag.... so I found a software that will force the CPU to stay at top speed without underclocking again... so my GPU runs at full speed! Now I need to test it!

@XxBlakpaladinxX Well it seems that running Win 7 Ultimate 64bit fixes the CPU to run at full speeds during games automatically. My 8600M GT in my laptop having it overclocked runs games in full speed with amazing graphic quality & smoothly. Nothing has lag yet, sound is perfectly sync and loads games faster. 64bit is the way to go! There's a little secret trick that u can do on any game or app when it loads up. On its own properties u can check the box for when app loads, win icandy disables!

Crysis s a graphics intensive game.I know for a fact that no computer can run this game with ALL(when I say all I mean each and every minute detail)set to its max potential.The fact that a laptop gpu runs this game on med settings at least makes this system a very good one.Technology always works this way...u spend a lot and buy the most powerful gpu money can buy and 6 months later u find out that your purchase is now a low end system.....this cannot be avoided...debating on this is useless

I've got a dell xps m1530 with 2,1 ghz core2, 8600m gt 256mb ddr3, 3gb ram and 5400rpm 250gb harddrive sata configurated. I run ut3 on medium/high settings at 40-60 fps, bioshock at 30-50fps at medium/high (may drop to 25 fps in areas with large ammounts of smoke and fire, WoW on 50-60 fps nearly highest graphic. Conclusion is that the 8600m gt can run most new games good at medium/high graphics if you have the right software. IF you have a desktop i would recommend a more powerful graphics card

Ok then... but you can't really compare Bioshock MAX details to Crysis MEDIUM to HIGH details. Look at the caps.... And you shouldn't say crysis' graphics are bad because they're actually very good you just haven't played it on very high. Apart from that good performance! Good to see mobile cards are stronger than I thought they were.

your Crysis segment of your video, doesnt look like it has any settings at high, it looks all like Medium to low- the the explosions look nice, but the grass and other textures in Crysis look horrible, as for Bioshock, it looks laggy as all hell..maybe im just spoiled with my computer and its performance.

Presonally I think 20 (or less) FPS is too low to play games. You should get atleast 25 FPS, but the games Bioshock / Crysis don't come even near the 20FPS. UT3 needs alot more FPS then 20-25 to play properly, but if you decrease the resolution you should get better performance. Nice vids man & enjoy the games!

i guess if you think that bioshock looks better than crysis you A. either haven't seen crysis maxed out or B. have too, of course assume all games running the unreal three engine look better. This includes Gears of War which im sorry to say cannot touch crysis. Bioshock is a bad ass game though. Ive played it through on the PC and 360 and still can't get enough.

I'm upgrading my laptop's vcard (currently ATI Mobility Radeon HD2300 MXM... and its shithouse!) To an 8600M MXM.

Now the benchmark comparison between the GT and GS are strange because they're not exactly "better or worse" but different. The GS has a faster core and shader clock but the GT has double the stream processors (32), however it is alos about US$50 more expensive.

If money was no limit, should I go the GT?

I'd take the 5400rpm... I prefer capacity above writing speed. You won't notice the difference between the wrtinig speeds while playing games. The search time is almost the same...

I think you can run UT3 at max detail at 20 fps... just enough to play :) Maybe it runs a bit better, but I don't think you'll run it better then me. But i guess UT3 looks a lot better on a pc then on a console. Plus gaming with a mouse is much nicer. About the 8700: I don't really know the specs.
