@iTechEverything Most of what was out at the time were Netbooks that were being marketed as ultras-portable. I have the 11" Air and it's amazing. It's a true 1366x768 Display and it seems X4 bigger than my older Asus netbook with a 10" screen running at a low resolution.

I heard of this one person who was so tried of lugging her MacBook Pro across airports, carrying it on a moving sidewalk and stuff, that she went out and bought one. It's the perfect size to fit on an airplane tray and, if you had to, so light you could carry it all day!

It wasn't even two years ago, it was last year. And their laptops haven't changed much in that time. My notebook still destroys a MacBook Pro and is still cheaper.

Cheaper does not always mean better. The built quality on your laptop could be a very, very cheap plastic frame. While the macbook is made out of a uni-body aluminum finish with a multi touch, glass track pad. All computers are made with different purposes. So your processing power is and could be a opinion because not unless you have tested it against a fully souped up 17 inch macbook pro. there is no proof

The frame on my laptop IS plastic, but it's very high quality and rock solid construction. It might not be anodized aluminum but it gets the job done.

Pfft, who needs a track pad. I've got a gaming mouse. My mouse > a multi-touch glass trackpad, in my opinion at least.

My laptop has a quad core processor running at 2.53GHz, so in any apps that use more than 2 cores, it WILL beat out the MBP's dual core. Simple as that. Especially if I overclocked to 3.06GHz, which I could as it's unlocked.

I have to admit, there is no doubt, Apple make an excellent OS. Their laptops ARE high quality, they are still very, very fast (Although I personally think they could have got a faster graphics card in the 17 inch, but I suppose it may have been a bit thicker then) and they have a nice battery life. I'm really just against the incredibly high pricing, as nice as they are they just don't seem worth the money. People'll buy them for the OS alone, so Apple can overprice them so much.

Well the new iMac is significantly UNDERPRICED in my opinion. The display in that thing is the best in the market, using ips panels etc. the equivilant display is $1500, but the imac is $1700 and you get an amazing computer inside aswell...

i don't have cd/dvd also, but i have dell d400 and belive me - you don't really need cd if you use laptop for such an activities like web browsing,email,chat/irc, movie watching etc... I have wifi network at home, so i can play movies wirelessly from my network hdd.

Im at Mac user and the Mac Book air its cool thin and light weight. The only thing that they had to compromise to make it thin NO CD DRIVE. So You will spend $1800.00 but still have to get a CD drive thats like $150.00 to $200.00. Whats is the point of having a Mac Book air if you can't upload your programs or listen to CDs without purchasing a portable CD drive. That just defeats the purpose of having a laptop anyway.

I used to not like this computer, but I realized recently that for people like me, it actually works well. I haven't needed a CD drive in years, and besides I can use Remote Disk if I ever need to. I only need one USB port for my iPhone. And I'd love a thin, lightweight computer that I can carry everywhere. I'm going to try and get one soon.
