I started listening to Country music around when this tune came out, what a mistake. I was a fake plastic tree among a bunch of whiskey drinking, truck and gun owning idiots. All for a girl that was fake, what a joke. I should have stayed real, I love these guys.

In my opinion, this is a man trying to look at both sides of his relationship, but favoring his own side.because he's writing/singing it. for whatever reason, whenever I hear this song, I always think of an actor who is in love with his co-star, but she doesn't feel the same. Great song, we've all had a time in our life where we were not living a life that wasn't our own, and no matter how bad you wanted it to work, and what you did to try to make it work, it just wasn't meant to be.
