how do you get the boats? i've always wondered if you make it yourself, or if there's a place to purchase them in america.

The boats are made in Asia -- some in Taiwan, some in Hong Kong. The festival rents most of the boats for the event from the American Dragon Boat Association in Iowa. They btought six boats this year. And, we bought two new boats this year so we'll have them year-round. They were made in Hong Kong but assembled in Arizona, and we drive down and picked them up.
