I killed two wolves last month and eight between myself and a few friends. Now I'm going to go to Alaska and rent a plane and kill 10 every day for a week.

Alaska is one of the last great forests that isnt a camp ground or covered in trails for tourists. People are destroying this planet that is such a gift . This video is difficult to watch, but what it doesn't show is the senseless slaughter of moose calves that occur when the wolf population explodes. The other thing this video does is lie - the "calling off" of the hunt was done because the quota for population control was met. This is not sport - and never was intended to be. It is wildlife management and is no different than any other harvest (moose, deer, etc) except we don't eat wolves. Balance is needed when considering this video.

This unsportsmanlike conduct of shooting wolves from an airplane is DISGUSTING, especially since it is being done so the hunters of Moose and Elk can then shoot their animals. I hunt deer but I would stop if I heard that an animal was being slaughtered so deer populations were kept at artificially high numbers.
Well, you should stop hunting deer then, because its population is kept high by slaughtering massive numbers wolves, coguars, bears, coyotes, and all in all the predators. Some forest fires are also caused with the intention of having more shrubs for deer to feed on them.

I know for rabbits around my parents house, it was a seven-year boom-bust-boom predator-prey cycle. There is merit to both arguments: do nothing OR actively manage. If we do nothing, vast numbers of wolves will die from starvation every few years; if we actively manage, then it's humans killing the wolves.

Us humans think we can just march around taking the animal's land and then try telling them they can't hunt the other animals that our on THEIR territory. When predator population gets out of control the removal a certain amount of the population is vital to the sustainability of other prey such as deer and elk. This video is difficult to watch, but what it doesn't show is the senseless slaughter of moose calves that occur when the wolf population explodes. The other thing this video does is lie - the "calling off" of the hunt was done because the quota for population control was met. This is not sport - and never was intended to be. It is wildlife management and is no different than any other harvest (moose, deer, etc) except we don't eat wolves. Balance is needed when considering this video.

This unsportsmanlike conduct of shooting wolves from an airplane is DISGUSTING, especially since it is being done so the hunters of Moose and Elk can then shoot their animals. I hunt deer but I would stop if I heard that an animal was being slaughtered so deer populations were kept at artificially high numbers.

Well, you should stop hunting deer then, because its population is kept high by slaughtering massive numbers wolves, coguars, bears, coyotes, and all in all the predators. Some forest fires are also caused with the intention of having more shrubs for deer to feed on them.

That's the problem with humans, they think that this world was put here for them. The thing most don't realize is: this world wasn't 'put' here, it developed as an ecosystem. Humans, cats, dogs, wolves etc.

Let's not forget that hunting animals from aircraft was outlawed by the federal government back in 1971. So they were breaking Federal law when they were "hunting" those wolves. The Bush administration chose to overlook it.
To the poster who talked about "managing the population" law of survival of the fittest should rule wildlife. This was about profit, not management. No responsible game warden is going to call the slaughter of all the predators in a given area responsible management.

Lilly: The one thing the video did was lie about the hunt being called off because there were no more wolves. The hunt was called off because the quota for the harvest was met. This wasn't a "hunt" for sport or subsistence - it is a wildlife management measure that is conducted throughout the state for all types of wildlife. For subsistence wildlife (moose, dear, etc) there are hunting tags issued. For nonsubsistence (wolves), the state performs the population management.

"Wildlife Management" is an oxymoron. Nature can manage itself fine without the intervention of man. Nature has been doing fine long before men arrived. The only reason why they are killing wolves is because the wolves eat the game that humans want to hunt.

oh im sorry i didnt know youtube was only about stuff you care about. and btw since i see you brought up god, if GOD didnt want these animals to be killed, why did he make them taste so good when they are cooked? im a founding member of PETA ( People Eating Tasty Animals ) and i would love to see more of this. Think of all the people we could feed with this meat.

i dont have pets because i dont think animals should be kept in a cage or made to live with humans. let them run free but at the same time if they get in my way i will kill and eat them. i see nothing wrong with this at all and like i said before think of all the people we could be feeding with this meat.

Terrible. I'm going to sign the petition today. Why do people think it's just 'their' place to do what ever they want? They get pissed off at dog's crying in horribly painful tests, threaten to kill monkey's who 'act up' because they don't wont to have their skulls cut open, crush hamsters with their feet because they don't want to be shipped in a hot box, and cut the wick of birds to 'sex' them. This is no different. It's just disgraceful to the human race.

Aerial wolf hunting may have been around since 1948 but that doesn't mean it should continue. We humans are cruel as hell to animals. We encroach on to their land and then kill them. Disgusting.

Can you believe that in some places around Alaska, the daily wolf limit is only 5, and they even close the season for two months a year. It's not an "out-of-control aerial wolf-killing program" it's highly regulated. It's not Gov. Palin's program, aerial shooting of wolves by government agents in Alaska began in 1948.

I agree with you, my comment definitely shows a lack of heart, but not a lack of brains. Wolf kill limits are based on scientific research. There are natural population cycles. I know for rabbits around my parents house, it was a seven-year boom-bust-boom predator-prey cycle. There is merit to both arguments: do nothing OR actively manage. If we do nothing, vast numbers of wolves will die from starvation every few years; if we actively manage, then it's humans killing the wolves.

If the boom-bust theory that you mention is correct, who will "manage" the rabbit explosion when humans have killed too many wolves? Oh! I know the answer to that one: Hunters!!! Again... Plus it is a fallacy that the wolf population is known accurately. I read that biologist and government agents don't agree on the exact number of wolves in any area. So how can we know that they are "regulating" properly?

As a species, we humans have let our consciences be numbed by all the violence against each other not to mention to species that cannot fight back - Palin is one of the worst, but she is just as jaded as most of our congressional representatives as well as our government. We need to fight for the rights of those who cannot do it themselves. Killing anything for 'sport' is a sad commentary on the human race.

Maybe you haven't seen the aerial shooting of elephants in Africa, or the fur farms in China, etc. but the footage is out there as well. We need to be outraged at ALL the horrors suffered by the voiceless, because their suffering knows no borders.

Stupid Palin for killing these beautiful creatures. Had it not been for their ancestors, we would not have Mowgli. But seriously, I'm glad she quit her job, this is senseless pointless crime that needs to stop. Without animals we are not fully complete. In some cases animals are better than people. So why dont we start killing off all the molesters and killers??? They cause a lot more damage and heart ache than these wolves.
