@CaptChadd hahahaha amm yes and no. in comparison with Gnome Shell, Windows 7 Desktop is Kinda Better but, Between Fedora and Windows 7 Fedora is better :) more if you use KDE.
@CaptChadd it depends... If you have a powerful hardware stack yep, via PlayOnLinux/Wine or if you prefer a Virtual Machine created with VMWare Player and Windows Pre-installed. If you have medium/low range hardware, no, stick with Windows to play Crysis 2.
Is it just me or did I not get libreoffice already installed? How do I get it becaus add/remove software isn't helping because that is confusing. Yum is confusing for me because I'm a ubuntu user. Someone help me.
@yoineedasn15 Copy and Paste in your terminal to install LibreOffice: su -c 'yum -y install libreoffice3 libreoffice3-writer libreoffice3-impress libreoffice3-calc libreoffice3.3-redhat-menus libreoffice3-dict-es libreoffice3-base libreoffice3-math libreoffice3-draw libreoffice3-en-US' and hit ENTER
@motovoi Yes it is a matter of getting used, but still it will be comfortable for mouse users, but not touchpad users on laptops. If it has good amount of (configurable) shortcuts it would be great. Anyway, its looking great. Looking forward using it.

@xenodesystems Agreed - it does remind me of Apple, but honestly, as @pranny01 pointed out: improved. So much polish in here I want to cry :'-)
I think that if this becomes a de facto DE (instead of Unity, or so many years of KDE, and now LXDE and XFCE gaining market share now) then more people would move to Linux, which would bring more developers, and higher expectations, so we're not stuck with apps that look like they were developed in 1997 anymore. We've moved on! Go us!!

Migra a KDE!!
As a Fedora user I havent' had the opportunity of mess around with this Gnome Shell Desktop. Nevertheless, the info I've found on the web tells me that maybe I would dislike it, because Im a lover of the Gnome 2x series. Maybe I would be end using KDE which I always have thought is nice-looking, or XFCE which is not so appealing for me. The Gnome 2.x environment will always live in our memory.
@LordBas2 I think the Gnome-shell is fantastic! Reminds me of a smart-phone instead of a "desktop" environment. I'm happy to be using it right now, even if I can't get flash for ff4 in f15a (yet?) ;-)
Worth it, less clicking, more gestures. And it's fast, and polished - Ubuntu Unity? No thanks!!
Long time ago I don't use Fedora but I'll test it.
Thanks

Además fedora es mejor distro. :)

madzane94 11 months ago
It's a matter of getting used.
MS users also noticed a huge difference between win98 to vista or win7, actually going back to 98 would be a real headache.
Gnome 3 is kind the same situation, if you get used to it you will not want to go back.
I just hope that in Fedora 15 they will change the GDM.
I dont want someone to get in my desktop, turn it on and then he can see faces/icons for user names to login.
30% of the system security is broken that way. other 70% is to find the password.

@motovoi And That's why (GDM) I use KDE in my Fedora machine :) I also recommend it!!
xenodesystems 11 months ago
@xenodesystems
I don't like KDE. It seems so close to windows explorer, it's heavier and with more complex configuration even for basic settings.
Every time I try KDE I end on quit.
Now with this Gnome3 I have to make again my opinion. Before that I still need to try it.

isnt this looking more like Apple? Its like Apple Improved
pranny01 11 months ago
@pranny01 Yep. as a matter of fact, I believe one of the "Good Things" GnomeShell is doing, is giving Linux a new face in the market.
xenodesystems 11 months ago
@xenodesystems yeah I really liked it and some of the thoughts are really creative. Like linking your online status on IMs integrated with OS. :)

Did you notice any difference using the Btrfs filesystem?

@jclark5093 That's the whole thing about the new Gnome-shell. The smart-phone looks doesn't appeal to me at all.
