  • This is my favorite Hole song :]

  • one of my fav. albums, C L is awesome

  • I dear friend this is how people look for when they are stressed out asking for it is my favorite hole songs

  • "If you live through this with me I swear that I will die for you."

  • Just visited this video to say to those of you who don't know, Kurt Cobain wrote Live Through This

  • @liquidyou

    He didn't, and fuck off.

None of this album sounds even remotely like his style. The lyrics are way too personal for him to have written. Hell, Doll Parts was written about him in '91.

  • @scartissue94 He wrote plenty of personal songs but would change the lyrics on his own music because he hated people focusing on lyrics and wanted people to listen to the music. CL is a different person, she wanted the actual lyrical content, Kurt didn't mind that because it would be seen as her music. I'm not sure why this would be an issue, they both have admitted he worked with her musically, it's not a secret.

  • @liquidyou its not true no matter how many time you say it

  • @polosandpearls it is true, no matter how much you'd like to deny it. Even David Grohl has said this to be true that's just another reason CL can't stand him.

  • @liquidyou half of the songs on the record were performed live before courtney met kurt soooo.......

  • @liquidyou Perhaps you should do a little research before you say a lie.

Doll Parts was written in 1991, and back then it was just called " I Am "

Did you also know Kurt wrote a song called "I Hate Myself and Want to Die"? ;)

  • @GophersInGopherland That would be a perfectly witty comment...except it was well established by Kurt that the title "I Hate Myself I want to Die" was written by him as satire. Of course you wouldn't know that, just like you didn't know that "I Am" was grossly underdeveloped and written by Kurt as Doll Parts. You know since Kurt was into collecting dolls? You did know that right? Or most likely not since you are referencing "I Am" on an "Asking For it" video

  • She fuckin' rocks! Sometimes I really wish I could just be a raging bitch and be A-OK with it! To not give a DAMN what anyone thinks!

  • Great song sung by a woman who is great at stuff

  • the more i listen to Hole the more i cant stop

  • I re-wrote some of the lyrics in this, about my issues with weight and selfconsciousness ;

Every time when I eat in front of you,

I feel a little bit fatter than I need to,

I will rip the fat out of you,

Oh bulimia, make me tell the truth...

  • Rose red could be the queen of hearts or being cheated on.

  • They can say what they want....for whatever reason......Courtneys music is more polished and melodic then Kats

  • favorite one :)

  • I'd love to see a video by them that doesn't mention kurt in the comments, or a review, or someone talking about them. but chances are pretty small. I like hole and nirvana, they're two seperate bands.

  • Not understanding why nobody likes her personally. She is the perfect example of what rock stars were and what they should be nowadays; a loud, batshit insane drug addict with a guitar, telling the audience to fuck themselves. Again, not understanding what the problem is there.

  • @shanpipah The problem is that she is a woman, if a man acted like that no one would have a problem.

  • @shanpipah she acts like this because she's a rock star and she was cruely hurt in her early life, she didn't have a childhood. I'm really sorry for her, I wish I could hug her and tell her she didn't deserve her suffering, she's a wonderful woman.

  • @shanpipah Thats exactly how i think a rockstar should look like!!! exept 4 the fuck the audience part!!!. She rocks!!! Ukranian grunge fans from Ukraine, hell yeah!!

  • @shanpipah I so agree with you.

  • @shanpipah Simple. She doesn't have a penis. (I know. That's some serious bullshit).

  • @shanpipah I want a rock star to be everywhere in my life.

  • @shanpipah Sexism. Male rockstars sleep around, use drugs, act crazy and are praised as "gods". Keith Richards is like, 100 and still does these things. When Courtney sleeps around she's a 'dirty whore', when Courtney does drugs she's a "Worthless junkie bitch who is a bad mother'. If she were a man plain and simple, she would be worshiped as a rock god.

  • Kurt Cobain sings during this song. He is mixed very low, however. You can hear his trademark 'grittiness', his trademark growl, during the end of Courtney Love's voice at 1:13-1:14, and 1:18-1:22. She had the song remixed to essentially turn his vocals down very low. Courtney Love would not have any hits at all were it not for Kurt. Any wonder why all of her albums since 'Live Through This' have never lived up to this album? Point at Kurt for her success.

  • @sigsigrighthere

I don't hear anything. ._. That's probably Kristen, playing bass & backing vocals.

You know, someone should really make a video where they can mix the song in making Kurt's faint vocals much more clear.

  • @Sunzu49 there's another version of this song where you can hear him clearly in the middle/end of the song singing "live through this".. this is not the one

  • @starsweet4

Yeah, that's the demo. I really want a little mix to this, where someone edits the music in order for us to hear Cobain's faint vocals more clearly.

  • @sigsigrighthere I don't think he's even on this one. They took that version off of the album right after he died, as well as the song that was originally meant to be "Rockstar".

  • @annalizardfell He is on this version 2:14 to 2:28, you can barely hear him, he's practically mumbling but he's there.... try headphones.

  • Great song

  • i take what i said back sort of you can hear Kurt's voice extremely soft in the Live through this part

  • All I see on this video is people slagging Courtney off. Well for a start, why look up her videos if you hate her so much, and anyways she's achieved a hell of a lot more than you!

  • @jan9206 it depends on what you consider achievement... yes, she had (has) a successful career but she failed both as a mother and as a wife, I bet that if she had the choice she would trade her career to bring Kurt back to life and to get Frances to at least talk to her again. I have nothing against Courtney just saying...

  • My favorite album of the 90's!!!!

  • I agree with @oldoddd. I don't like Courtney too much personally, but I think Live Through This is a very good album.

  • I like more version with Kurt Cobain, but this is also great.

  • Woah!I have a version of this on a Nirvana bootleg! But its was called Live Through This and Kurt sang on it with Courtney!Holy crap I had no idea that she changed the name and lyrics! She cut out all the parts where Kurt sang and played guitar!Holy crap!Seriously there is a legit studio recording of this song with Kurt on it I swear.I guess that really does settle that Kurt at least co-wrote THIS song and possibly all the others.I just had a "Ding!" light bulb moment.Holy crap that is weird.

  • @NirvanaNerd364 DUDE i have the same copy, on Outcesticide 5: Disintergration, definately the better version. not only because it has Kurt in it, but because its alot grittier and lesser quality. Courtney Love is a bitch in my opinion for what she did to Kurt, then after taking some of his songs that were meant to be on the new album before Nirvana broke up, like violet for instance. plus the fact that as soon as he passed she claimed royalties on absolutley everything to do with him. bitch.

  • @TheNirvanafan1Thatd be fucking awesome to hear Nirvana's Violet!im almost certain that she and Kurt wrote LTT.And yes i think its a little fishy how the two of them were working on albums that were to be released in 94 and how Live through this sounds way different than her prior work with Hole. And yeah i like the Kurt/Courtney version of this song better, i got t from a type of Outcesticide 5 too.But there are rumors that Kurt haalf assed that recording cuz he didnt know th lyrics sooooo....?

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNirvanafan1

Yeah, and Kurt was such a fucking saint? Both of them didn't hold up their own relationship very well, and that's their own faults. Courtney wrote all the damn songs on her album, they don't even sound like Kurt's style. She even wrote 'doll parts' in '91, about Kurt.

  • for sure a very good cd.. or album hahaha... a classic in my opinion.

  • this song is stuck in my head

  • I always thought Melissa Auf Der Mar was hot......I remember spanking it to her many a times back in the 90's.....Lord knows where she is now....

  • Love Hole/Courtney.

  • @CMloveify

    I love Hole.

  • i want to get a tattoo saying 'if you live through this with me i swear that i would die for you' definitely one of my favourite songs

  • 0:42 dont you just love that guitar ressonating???

    so beautifull..

  • When I hear this song, I feel like dieing then being reborn again.. then dieing and being reborn again then dieing and being reborn.. and so on.. it's just so magical o.O

  • 3 people are asking for it..

  • @baileywatwat

    One person thinks you're a fucking queer.Me.

    Suck it.

  • Courtney Love-Great iconic Woman :)

  • is this song about rape??

  • @alexdelgiudice1 yes it is. courtney said in an interview that she was having a concert and jumped on the crowd, people started touching her private parts and she was left kinda naked in the end. she felt violated and wrote this song.

  • @8scatterbrain8 hehe private parts

  • love u guys thought id drop a song i made for you love from england

  • Brilliant

  • BE A MODEL, OR JUST LOOK LIKE ONE

  • Live Through This was such a great album, changed my life.

  • @scarletcatnruby

Albums dont change your life, losing your legs does.

  • This chick is crazy/nasty but this album friggin ROCKED. 90's had some amazing music.

  • I Like The One With Kurt Singing Better :] I Put It On My iPod :P

  • God I LOVE THIS SONG....I SWEAR ILL LIVE THROUGH THIS WITH YOU!!!!!!!

  • I sorta feel that the song was about the whole Vanity Fair thing, their marriage, and how all Kurt's fans hated Courtney.

  • I think it's a great song, a great arrangement and, like her or not, Courtney is uncannily compelling.

  • I really wanna buy this album but the only place I can find it it's bloody expensive.

  • murderer! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • @skelleytor

    No.

  • who ever is the one who pushed dislike 4 this song is fucking retarded

  • sex becomes more tender and intense at the same time while listening to this song:)

  • @Psygnus

    Like you'd know.

  • Me encantan las guitarras de esta zorra

  • No son de esta zorra. Sino son del finado Kurt, al menos son compuestas por ambos.

  • LOVE this song so much

  • I couldn't stand Hole when they came out and then It didn't take long before I was playing it over and over.

  • I had this album as a kid, my friends were all macho about it, but it spoke to me, so fuck them.

  • yea...another reason I would like to go back to the early 90's... From '95 and on, I felt that the music in this genre (the mainstream stuff) got a facelift

  • Comment removed

  • i love hoew all the songs are linked 'rose red' 'milk' 'baby'

  • this is one of her best songs..i have fond memories of this song and album back in '94, i remember being 16 and i got my jeep that year and i had this on tape and i remember i had 4 girls with me and we were singing this song at the top of our lungs...memories

this song gets stuck in my head too..that's why i'm here.

  • Wow Icant believe this is from 1994. Time flies.

  • what do you think this song is about? Adultery comes to mind, but so does a lot of other things

  • @amilica85 Courtney wrote the song about a gig she played where she tried to crowdsurf and the crowd ripped her clothes from her and molested her. She said that, although the audience sort of 'raped' her, she remembered feeling as though she 'wanted them to do it' and so, in a way, she was 'asking for it'.

  • @amilica85 it's about rape/sexual assault and how the perpetrators often justify their actions by accusing their victims of "asking for it" by wearing certain clothes, etc

  • This song gets stuck in my head a lot.

  • This is the only Hole song I listen too. But its a nice song :)

  • One of her best songs..

  • Every time that I stare into the sun, angel dust and my pants just come undone!

  • o.o. She must be the greatest girlsinger ever. I usually dislike female singers, it's so femaly, but she. she is just not able to describe. she's fantastic.

  • @kirrusim you're a fucking tool. look up janis joplin, debbie harry, carole king, joni micthell, ect.

  • @omgstfudavid I'm too lazy, but she's the best girlsinger I've heard, that I like more than one song of. ;o Let me be a fucking tool.

  • Love this CD, grew up listening to it almost broke it. A masterpiece, feels good to be a girl.

  • this song remember drug addiction, moments of happiness, moments of great despair. Cool.

  • evry time i stare in too the sun !!!

do u think u could make me do it againnnnnnnnnnnn

  • amazing

  • "tear the petals off of you, rose red i'll make you tell the truth" was the lyric used in another Hole song? sounds like that line is from the song"petals"

  • @atheistunicorn A song called "Petals" off of Hole's Celebrity Skin album.

  • This album is one of the best ever.

  • From the scribbles of lyrics she'd write on her concert flyers ("I am the girl with no soul, I am the girl on death row, one above and one below") to the point of view that she'd express towards the world, feminism and superficiality in what she said in interviews and how she dressed. The lyrics are Courtney's. The riffs are Eric and Courtney's.

Maybe Kurt inspired "Doll Parts"? Maybe Courtney inspired "Heart-Shaped Box"? They both contributed to each other's music without writing it.

  • @amenders The theme of a girl "asking for it" is something that Courtney had played around with in 1990 when she wrote "Dicknail." Lines like "Be a model, or just look like one" and "Wild eye rot gut do me in" really couldn't be anymore Courtney. The lyrics on Live Through This are Courtney's. Courtney's early work has a lot of the same themes as Live Through This.

  • Hole>Nirvana, Foo Fighters

  • im black and i never listened to punk rock music before, but I read how critically acclaimed this album was so I have listened to it and the songs I love is doll parts, asking for it, and rock star. I also like her other songs Malibu, celebrity skin, and mono. I am still trying to understand what makes a good rock album versus a poor one. I grew up listening to music deemed "soft rock" , rnb and hip-hop so it is easier for me to be a critic of those genres.

  • @millennialgirl Welcome to the rock circle for chocolate chicks and guys!! I'm a black chick and I've been listening to rock music since i was fourteen. Rock is based on good riffs, good melodies, and a chorus that you want to either pump your fist to or sing along with. For me, if at least two of those above criteria are met then the song is good. If a rock album has eleven songs, and you like seven of them, the album is good. If you like only three, then the album is a great one.

  • kurt sing here

  • lmao! shawny! gd song! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

  • "just live through this, and ill swear that i will die for you" It makes me understand that she loved Kurt unconditionally. So people should stop kurt bashing her and now that shes highly talented

  • this is one of the best albums of all time. :)

  • agreed - i forgot how much i loved this album until giving it another listen tonight; its been awhile - but yeah this album kicks ass

  • @tickedoffnow most definitly

  • @tickedoffnow

    No,but Hole is okay.

  • I loved this cd. Apparently, someone else loved it too since they stole it!

  • i don't care what people may think; i love courtney

  • @sulupacouhohoreo27 right on ;)

    shes one cool woman.

  • @sulupacouhohoreo27 Courtney is a goddess XD

  • @sulupacouhohoreo27 Same. Say all the horrible things you want about her, I still adore her.

  • @sulupacouhohoreo27 Courtney hates when people say that. She finds it insulting. I read that on her twitter the other day.

  • @mandamichelle12345

???? She hates when poeple say they love her ???

  • @Spawnisntdead No. People putting " I don't care what people say" in front of " I love Courtney" gets her annoyed. I read her tweet about that a couple of months ago . She means why can't they just say they love her? Why mention that other people don't like her while you're trying to complement her? It's like telling her" everyone else thinks you're a bitch ".

  • @mandamichelle12345 Oooh Okay i see, thanks. By the way what's her twitter acount, if you can tell it ?

  • @Spawnisntdead You're welcome! Her twitter account got suspended in Jan. because she's being sued by a designer for some rants she posted. Her username is CourtneyLoveUK.

  • @mandamichelle12345 Okay, thank you !

  • @sulupacouhohoreo27 Oh god i love her too xx :D

  • Does anyone have ACCURATE tabs for this song?

  • google it
