Actually NJM12594 the iPod in this video IS a 4th Gen, WiiplayerRVL003 is wrong saying that it's a 1st Gen.
It is technically possible to watch movie on a 4th Gen iPod by using something called ipod linux, but it wouldn't enable you to watch films purchased from iTunes...

It's a system check that's preformed in the factory to make sure every part of the iPod is working correctly. it works on all iPods with a clickwheel. not sure about the iTouch :P as for rockbox, it's a UI that was developed under the iPod Linux/Podzilla team. I have it on my 4th gen iPod 20. and as the name suggests, it Rocks my box off. it's great. i an even watch movies and look at pictures, all in 2-bit grey scale! ^^
Hey man, you seem you like trying out stuff with your iPod 4G. I suggest you try out 'Rockbox'. Just google it to check it out. It is like an additional operating system some fantastic developers created, where you can pimp out your iPod. It has also a lot of games...like chess, checkers... my favorite is 'Helicopter'. And it gives you the capabilit to search for mp3s and a lot of other stuff. Peace out and happy new year! :D
I think that screen is somewhat like a bios for the ipod, most likey used for internal repairs. I dunno though. I'm sure you have a better idea of it than me.
