  • this guy can sing as well as play the guitar hendrix not a good singer!!!! only my view!!

  • Damn, that's one big-ass acoustic guitar!

  • Are you guys seriously comparing artists?

They are expressing feelings, not racing for whom is the best.

And personally sometimes I like Clapton more than Hendrix, it's a peace of mind to just float into a song.

  • O.K. David Blaine - you can levitate, and walk through walls and windows, but can you do THIS?

  • this is "Old Love"

  • かっこいい!かっこいい!かっこいい!

    エリック・クラプトンだ!

    生き返っている。

    サイコーだっ!!

  • @ikutama48 エリック・クラプトンだ

  • @ikutama48 i dont believe you.

  • This video contains eargasm I m just sayin.

  • hendrix was good but not nearly as much as hes hyped up to be plenty of guitarist had way more soul at playing then him(jimmy page for instance who is famous for his improvisation on stage)the media made hendrix into the titan he is today not his ability with the six string

  • nathan east is great , and I think clapton is overrated,I don like his sound or his phrasing but he has really personal style and feel

  • I think comparing artists is silly in my opinion we all do cause people are brought up to be competitive and brain washed to believe in this I'm number one or the best bullshit just think outside the box and enjoy everything and all things has its purposes in life! As Bill Murray said in Meatballs "It just doesn't matter" just be and enjoy!!!

  • you're probably right. The second part of the post was better and a true Blues Master-class As to the on-going debate Gibson or Fender? Who cares? To each his own. On a recording I can tell the difference. Humbuckers or single-coil? Tube or transistors (amps) Jimmy Page recorded "Whole lotta Love" on a Telecaster Bet you never saw him do it in concert on anything but the Les Paul. I dig em all.OK quote me"Guitars are like women, I never met one that I didn't like." but then I ain't met 'em all

  • correction, Clem Clempson ! Valentyne suite also .

  • great stuff ! he's often just a bit too sweet for me. Where's Dave Clempson with "Colosseum Live" awesome stuff, "Stormy Monday Blues" now that rocks!!

  • is that a wide neck , or am i halucinating?

  • @caincolesr - this was when it was called soul brother!

  • Nobody mentioned Al Dimeola or John Mcgluaglin(Mahivishnu Orchestra) Or my opinion the best of all FRANK ZAPPA,just one guy's opinion!!!!!!!

  • Green is better...I fucked him so I should know...Not little kids .....

  • Damn this guy's good.... I bet if he wanted to he could do this for a living

  • this is awesome mi one of my favorite guitarrists....with townshend and hendrix

  • Eric Clapton just wins. Haha, if you're losing an argument, you just say "Eric Clapton" and you automatically win :P

  • nobody is better than nobody in this world, and Eric Clapton is a great guitar player full.

  • Eric Clapton suck everyone says "WOW WOW Eric Clapton is much better then Hendrix or Page , Matt bellamy" people he is just making some old shit blues that every guitarist like me can play way better !!!!!!!!!

  • @DRglue00 are u fucking kidding me? maybe every guitarriost can play that...but no one like clapton...he have a LOT of soul in their playing....

  • @DRglue00 There is no greatest guitarist of all time, there is only the greatest GUITARISTS of all time, its a matter of opinion, Eric Clapton is sure one hell of a guitar player, who has changed music for over 40yrs, but there are others Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, BB King and many many more. Only opinion is accounted for in choosing your greatest guitarists, and the sooner everyone realizes that the better. Clapton's music will live on, or life really isn't fair.

  • @DRglue00

Drglue? Are you sniffing that glue? This is a beautiful track, from the very subtle intro, through the song and into the awesome solo. If you can do better, go carve your name in glory, but I won't hold my breath waiting.

    Twat.

  • That was good - but Gilmour is better....he he.

  • what a masterpiece...simply outstanding !bravo eric clapton you are like a fine wine rafino chianti`perhaps.better- with age!brian m black in vancouver, canada.

  • "Old Love" - one of my faves :). Merry Christmas!

  • The only old man I know who can play like this...

  • @SuperMonkeyHellDude pete townshend too ;)

  • @juan13579run true that man

  • Comment removed

  • the title says it all... amazing (:

  • I dont always like the speed... but also the constructiveness of any extempo solo.. speed doesnt count everything in guitar.

  • I always thought Clapton wasn't all that much, really. It's pretty basic blues guitar. In all his decades of playing, to think that's the best he can produce is a bit of a let down. Guys like SRV make him look like an amateur by comparison.

  • @MacGregor88 haha i wish i wasn't all that much!

  • If this man added some chromatic scales and some sweeping he would be a gods god..

  • OMG!!!!!!!!

  • boring

  • beautiful intro

  • Is it the best drummer sitting behind his tools? Steve Gadd?

  • whats the song?

  • Everytime Eric picks up a guitar. It is the best guitar solo ever§

  • what's the name of that song please ?

  • @mouchkagrigri The name of the song is "Old love", of the Unpluged album

  • @mouchkagrigri old Love

  • there is no solo in this viedo the whole band plays the entire time

  • @MrMikerettig Solo doesn't mean, that band must stop playing, and only EC plays. Band keeps the rhythm;)

  • The neck mic!

  • Eric has done it again! The intro just something else...

I wonder what does go around is his head....

His blues....is just reflected in his gift...

  • eu nao gosto do eric clapton mas eu tenho q adimitir q ele é fera

  • If anyone from you guys, who slander him, can play like this - show us and the world your power, and you'll become famous. Mister Eric Clapton deserves to be in top 5 guitarists of all times. actually, he's number one for me. yeah, maybe Hendrix was able to play faster, but this is more than enough for me.. soul, passion, feelings - not only EC is singing here, he's making his guitar sing, tell unheard stories.. Crazy old man:)))

  • @Zubauskas nobody plays a run of 20 different notes faster than mister clapton,,,, never let anyone dissuade into believing otherwise .. I would put him on the stage with anyone in history I said 20-30 different notes!!! Not 2 or 3.... His hand coordination is unique!!!! I have been following him for 40 + years!!

  • @Zubauskas btw hendrix is supremely overrated... The burn outs congregate to him No poll of guitar players will ever put him where he belongs ... They would be called racist .. and they know it!!!!!! They have no integrity..pride or balls ....I could go on!!

  • @Zubauskas hendrix and clapton have aLOT of soul in their playing non of them have more or less i belive them both deserve 1 place becuse of the feel cause thats what music all about.... we dont need to rank them number 5 , number 1 ... what does it matter? their both gave us some fine masterpeaces to enjoy

  • @Zubauskas am not sure i understood you judging by the upvotes, but i thing you got the picture upside down, Jimi Hendrix was not famous for his speed or technique, he was sloppy and missed a hell lot of notes, but was famous as number one guitarist, because he had amazing soul and feeling in his songs, in a time no one really knew what electric guitar meant in the first place, eric is in second because he is doing a little of that. but never like hendrix

  • @Zubauskas I don't think Jimi Hendrix ever was in any way technically better than Eric Clapton. And most definitely not faster.

  • @Zubauskas you obviously dont know who the fuck steve vai, shawn lane or joe satriani are. educate yourself

  • @SASLEAD666

Eric Clapton is the 2nd best guitarist of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine, the most trustworthy source for this type of thing. Clapton is only surpassed by Jimi henrdix, not Steve Vai, shawn lane or joe satriani, not even close

  • @Zubauskas please don't tell me you just compared clapton to hendrix in such a juvenile manner. hendrix did a lot more than "play faster". learn to appreciate other musicians for who they are and their own unique talents instead of ranking them in order of "BEST EVER" - because there is no such thing as the best guitarist.

  • @Zubauskas Beautifully said. And to your Claptno/Hendrix theory there... Clapton once said: Since Hendrix died I have nobody to jamm with anymore. Kinda sad, huh?

  • A great guitarist not only can make the guitar sound, they can make the guitar cry as well

  • YOU CAN'T PLAY THE BLUES IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED-ROOM..!!!

  • Well, he did write 'While my guitar gently weeps' with George Harrison an possibly played on 'Something", the third greatest song ever written.....

    KNOW WHY HE'S CALLED 'SLOWHAND'

Nothing to do with tuning his guitar either.....

Try playing Voodoo Chile as good as SRV

and we'll be impressed since CREAM.

  • wonder if he ever get finger cramps in the morning

  • Oh this must have been before guitar playing was A race to see who could go the fastest? Is this back when it was called music?

  • @caincolesr lmao!!!!! Exactly!

  • @caincolesr

    You got it,mate.

  • @caincolesr that's why Clapton's nickname is "Slow Hand"

  • @caincolesr dragon force is better

  • @Doomspoon1 ha...ha no its not. they are posers man. their music is not that hard for one, and second of all the only way you could think they play hard music is if you played it on guitar hero

  • @ares784512 or fast music the same, they just speed it up. and you cant say they dont because they dont tour, so there's like no proof saying they dont

  • What Clapton song is this?

  • @gv1995swag the song is "OLD LOVE"

  • Eric like Tony Iommy

  • Wow, best solo I've herd in my life. Truly amazing in every way. Just astonishing. Wow

  • @gv1995swag check gary moore XD (for example)

  • Effortless brilliance! Don't see it often, so thanks for posting it.

  • Dude, calm the ^&%$ down! I said he was the most over rated guitarist (IMO). Never said you had to agree. Loved him in Cream. Most of his other stuff (IMO) would not put him in the same class as lots of players that Rolling Stone Magazine doesn't put in their popularity poll. Check out Terry Kath, Steve Howe, Steve Hackett, Pete T., Rory Gallagher, Joe Pass, Jimmy Bruno...

  • Just about 7.06, he seems to open his eyes, after having played caned that majestic solo at the top of the neck, and he's just checking where he's coming down to, to underscore it all somewhere around the 8th fret - there's a flash on his face which looks like it could be saying "bloody hell, I nailed that!" Of course you did, you're Eric Clapton.

  • CARLOS SANTANA!!!

  • @TheMaglie Errr, What about Carlos? He's good, but he's a very different player to Eric, and this is unmistakeably Eric Clapton!

  • You know you're listening to a legend of the guitar when an amazing bassist such as Nathan East doesn't even get a mention.

  • Most overrated guitarist ever.

  • you are quite a douche

  • @DZibman Are you deaf? Can you not hear genius at work? Sensitivity, melody, craft and emotion? Did someone tell you to troll, or did you think of this all by yourself?

  • @DZibman You think he's been fooling folks since the late 60's?

    Get a life.

  • @DZibman you just proved to the world that you have no idea what you are talking about

  • 36 funkeiros não curtiram...

  • @DavidBryantAnimation i agree with you even the king of blues bb king said that clapton gave something to "music" when he was with cream but after cream he didn't have any style so we can't compair him with god or whatever. and he's not the best bluesman or rockman theres a lot more better than him with all my respect to what he did the best white bluesman is john mayall and its not me who said that

  • 36 people don't like any sound of guitar.

  • @DavidBryantAnimation love clapton and stevie playing the blues, but nobody asked for a white guy playing the blues to pee all over their face. you have to appreciate that claptons diversity in his styles is what made him gawd. this guy can just about do it all. check out his latest compilation. he does rock blues jazz country ( escondido) pop and even a lil indie rock. SO BACK UP!

    all love

  • Dayum he shreded dat mother***** almost made come out my draws (nohomo) lmao

  • From 18 - 21 seconds, stretching his fingers, like the gun-slinger he is!

  • the name of this song please!

  • @losadiella Old Love

  • if eric clapton is god then god is a racist prick

  • Mr Bill...What kind of bullshit do you like? If you don't think this is good then why don't you shoot yourself?

  • Who said anything about Hendrix? Anyway....it's the phrasing that makes great music....not speed and noise. This is really nice stuff. And..I just don't get why people continue to compare shit...forget it...it means nothing.

  • Best Solo performance I have seen or heard! Long Live Eric Clapton

  • Best Solo performance I have seen or heard!

  • You should rename this to its proper title

    Its "Old love"

  • What brand of guitar is this?

  • @catheystewart It's a Fender Stratocaster.

  • @catheystewart fender strat

  • In the crowd, the listeners stand-up at around the 7:00 mark - except those play, who get down on their knees. We're not worthy!

  • Old Slowhand may not hit the most notes, but he might hit the most right notes. I still prefer his "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" from Derek and the Dominos "Live at the Fillmore."

  • @denke42 Interesting to note that he was called "Slowhand" ironically. The Yardbirders gave him that title as a joke because at the time, he was considered one of the fastest guys on guitar they heard.

  • @SmelOdies

In a June 1999 online chat, Clapton gave a slightly different version of how his nickname came about: “I think it might have been a play on words from the “Clap” part of my name. In England, in sport, if the crowd is getting anxious, we have a slow handclap, which indicates boredom or frustration. But it wasn’t my idea it was someone else’s comment."

  • boring! full stop!!!

  • @TheWildebill I wonder what bored you, Sir? Was it the emotion, the expression, the incredible lucidity, or the spine-tingling clarity? I don't really CARE if you don't like EC, but I think an explanation could help the rest of us understand.

  • when he is on........he is ON!!!!

  • Sweet guitar.... Clapton remaking himself again. He is better than Hendrix, and just as good as Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Pete Townsend.

  • @shadowstrikz He also had more time to build the skill than Hendrix did, so watch what you say about Hendrix. Hendrix was amazing, but died at a young age.

  • eargasm.

  • This man just sends shivers down my spine! Saw him once live!

  • @camcrunk lmfao

    Very very funny

  • I hate how people compare Eric Clapton to God, I mean, He's cool and good and everything. But he's no Eric Clapton.

  • @camcrunk you are a bloody fool and you will learn it soon enough

  • @camcrunk And at least we know that Eric definitely exists!

  • @camcrunk

    Love it! Almost peed myself.

  • @camcrunk ahahahaahaha YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!!

  • @camcrunk Gotta love the (relatively) new use of the old line. Honest. Props.

  • he looks like Dr House

  • @joncool25 no, Dr. House looks like HIM.

  • @henrithefreak47 His Imperial Majesty??

  • @henrithefreak47 I think Eric Clapton looks like Dr.House and Ckuck Norris in one.

  • @djmlkas no, Dr. House and Cuck Norris look like HIM.

  • This Is Phenomenal! Fabulous

  • Sit back relax.....cos eric will take you somewhere else

There is smooth and there is silk.

  • There are some things about guitar you could never teach, and he's mastered most of em

  • Why are there 32 dislikes. What does that mean? What do those people like, and why if they don't were they listening to this to begin with? It is beautiful playing by a man tortured by misdeeds and misdoings when he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and his playing is his way out and his living amends to those he done wrong especially his friend George.

  • Amazing...!!

  • This epic solo has Eric climbing Everest, with his eyes shut (as ever) and then doing a one-arm hand-stand on the summit. Because he can. I'd love to hear another five minutes of that intro developed, it's so simple, but so beautiful. My guitar technique suffers from two years of classical lessons at school, which were basically about posture - it's taken me years to RELAX with the guitar, and learn to play it with the whole body, as Eric and all the great natural players do.

  • What's this song called?

  • @xXJJdumpandaXx It's called "Old Love", and it's said to be written for his ex-wife, Patty, who was formerly married to George Harrison. Eric made his feelings for her very clear, when he wrote "Layla" - the rest, is His-story & Her-story.

  • as far as rock (and blues) go, few come close to Clapton (maybe Stevie Ray Vaughn and a handfull of others, but there's enough variation in style to leave out comparisons). In truth, Hendrix was a pioneer, he was original, and he was amazing, but I think that on a list that incorporates, say, jazz guitarists, only Clapton and Duane Allman and SRV could remain (barely hanging on, considering all the crazy things jazz guitarists do). But that doesn't diminish his incredible ability. Clapton rules.

  • I have loved Clapton for a long time....still do...but the more I listen...the more I think Mark Knopfler has that extra something that makes his stuff both bluesy but more melodic then Eric's....

Maybe straight on blues is still Eric's domain but Knopfler is sometimes playing like he just stepped out of a fairytale...as you can see I lose words describing the effect his style has on me...

but of course as always its a question of taste..

  • "Clapton is God" I said it first back in'71. Some guy heard me and put it on a T-Shirt. I stole if from Forrest Gump.

  • An amazing guitarist. No one comes close to Clapton.

  • clapton is a bad influence !! he is saying I CAN RAPE EVERITHING SEE WITH THIS GUITAR !!!

  • The 32 people who dislike this have no knowledge of music. This is an amazing skill and when you close your eyes and listen this takes you to a different world. Beautiful music from the greatest guitarist who has ever lived!!

  • This song is one of his best! Old Love....brilliant

  • I think Eric just had orgasm with his guitar sound!

  • Kudos to the drummer, for keeping that thunder rollin' - he looks exhausted, but when you are bang the skins for Clapton, it's like wrestling a gorilla - you don't stop when YOU'VE had enough, you stop when HE'S had enough! This is a master-class of taste, tone, phrasing, and colour, and I find myself coming back to it time and again. Those shredders can stick their 1000 meaningless notes-a-minute garbage, THIS moves me, and they don't.

That gorgeous intro could have gone on forever.

  • @CallMeMister99 well thats just like, your opinion, man. Don't judge a whole genre of players as being shit just because they can play fast and have different technique, Gary Moore plays fast, guess what- he moves a lot of people too. EVH plays fast, guess what, i like to rock out to his songs too cause they sure as hell move me, granted in more energetic ways, so does James Hetfield, Randy Rhoads etc.. Guess what- There is a time and place for ALL music and players. Don't put labels them.

  • @lemmywinks0600 Of COURSE it's MY opinion Lemmy. What ELSE would I type in a box left here for my views? I liked some of Gary Moores' work, he knew the value of some lonnnng held notes, and let them breathe and resonate. If speed-metal isn't to my taste, then I have NO TIME for it - no Music Police are going to force me to listen to stuff I don't care for, are they? BTW, I hate the Beatles and Oasis. Some people like them, I don't.

  • Thats y they called him GOD along time ago! he is on guitar anyway.

  • ingwe malmsteen and the like wouldn't dream of phrasing like this. less than a million notes a second? you kiddin?

  • WOW. My ear's just had an orgasm.

  • Whats this song called???

  • All of you SHUT THE FUCK UP !

    Cause its God playing

  • Clean, clean notes.

  • saw him live, the feeling, like nothing else...

  • It` terrribble... That`s VVVVery good!...

  • I'm having a Clapton obssesion atm, I don't think it will go away O.O'

  • Love you man!

  • "...and on the Eigth Day, God f****d-up a Clapton solo, and had to leave it to the Master." I thought I'd seen him at his pinnacle, in the late 80's, when I believed his voice was as much worth hearing as his guitar. WRONG!! Both are richer here, twenty years on down the road. Can we please make a perfect android army of this guy? I can't stand the thought that one day, he won't be around any more.

  • "...and on the Eigth Day, God f****d-up a Clapton solo, and had to leave it to the Master."

  • Still wondering who are the mysterious people who dislike this.
