  • Anybody know of a good place to get vintage 501s?

I'm tired of messing with ebay.

  • I found a 501 xx with hidden rivets. and offset back beltloop. levis printed both sides. How old are they? no number on top button

  • This is 偽物

  • These are awesome.. I've seen a couple of your vids, where do you usually try and find vintage jeans?

  • cool

  • Talking about vintage clothing. Have you checked out the RETRO-GUY website? You can also see a video on it on youtube. Just search for Bali Rakhra or BBC The One Show - RETRO GUY.

  • now expensive...it is small problem for me.

  • what an awesome pair!

  • I owned a 1987 501 Moto Morini Camel. Dual Sport Motorcycle. Since it was 497 cc I always had this sneaky suspicion it was an Italian marketing ploy.

  • How many different numbers appears on the top buttons??

  • i love the dirty wash,, it like super grunge... ^_^

  • great jeans. i remember being awed by your superdenim knowledge back in the day.

  • i bought a levi's 501 STF yesterday by ordering over the internet here in japan. but i noticed the red tag doesn't have "levi's" printed on it except the "R circle". is this genuine?

i have seen the other areas of the jeans and no prob except for the red tag. please help

  • Hi,

The R instead of the Levis on the red tab (Flag) is put on every 2000 pairs of jeans produced (2000,4000,etc...)

These jeans are then much rarer than normal Levis flag one.

    Regards

  • waaaahh! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

  • tytytytytyty !

  • yeah, it's genuine. Some levi's were made with just the R on them to satisfy legal requirements of the trademark. However, they aren't rare or vintage.

  • Dun worry is original dude..that's is special edition R tab lolzz...i oso hve wan of this jeans..

  • @drewetzky The "R" alone is to protect against trademark infringement. It means that Levi's owns that specific placement of the tab on the pocket, whether it says Levi's or not. They are most likely genuine Levi's.

  • R&R all the way!

  • Hello I have a pair of childs Levis jeans made in the 50s they are in mint condition. I would like to know if they are worth anything.

  • can anyone tell me what the deal is with my red lines? They are most defineitley genuine vintage red lines 501's. But the red tag has nothing on it but the "circle R" trademark symbol. the number on the top waistband rivet is "2"

  • On one in ten pairs the red tab is left blank (other than the ® symbol). By leaving "Levi's" off it makes it [legally] crystal-clear that the tab is also a trademark.

  • The number stamped into the nailhead holding the waistband button denoted which factory produced them

  • Thanks for sharing that, it's interesting!

  • I was kidding serge you dork

  • OOH, snap! Sarcasm doesn't work very well as text.

  • I think most of the so called vintage Levis are fake! Two things I CLEARLY remember from the mid 60s are that the run of the mill jeans were ALL 502s these had a zip fly that replaced the much earlier 501s that had buttons, as far as I can remember no button fly jeans were sold (at least in the UK) between about 1960 and 1980.

  • Most vintage Levi's are NOT fake. They made millons of pairs of jeans. The reason why most jeans were zipper fly in England (and the east coast of the US) is because it is cold and people didn't like the draft they would get with the button fly. It is the same reason that here on the West Coast of the US you will find mainly button fly jeans and rarely find zippers. I have yet to find a pair of vintage Blue Bell Wranglers over here.

  • @SergedNimes I have some button fly jeans, I'm from New York. Infact Hollister and H&M are know to sell the button fly jeans in their stores up in the Northeast.

  • My loomstate > these ;-)

  • I'm glad you like you Loomstates, that leaves more vintage denim for those of us that appreciate it. Let's see if those Loomstates of yours are worth anything in 40 years.
