  • I saw this film and the second one with my mother and my grandmother at the cinema. My Grandmother loved this film.

  • made in china

  • the small little mishromm is funny

  • THE WITTLE MUSHROOM!

  • :) Cute mushrooms ^_^

  • Oh man oh man oh man I'm re-living Bioshock. OH GOD. "I WANT TO TAKE THE EARS OFF! pleeeeeease TAKE THEM OFF!"

  • Ah man!!! I haven't watched fantasia in forever, but each time I revisit it, I'm as breathless as the time before!!!! Beautiful, beautiful imagery and absolutely stunning music is just enough to jump start my imagination!!! :) <3

  • I remember when I was little I honestly believed that the giant mushrooms growing in the park had the ability to dance.

  • :P mushirooMz

  • All the nostalgia.

  • all those colours, but all the browns are servants! racist!!!

  • @jsnhyns Well yeah. This was made in the '40s. That by itself screams "racist"

  • When the little one shakes his booty! How cute!

  • @TacoXX19

Depends what mushrooms you're craving. Lol. :)

  • The recording itself is a bit muddy, and I don't like this particular interpretatin of the piece, but oh well. At least the visuals are fantastic as always.

  • Had to point out that Art Babbitt animated the Mushroom Dance, NOT Jules Engel.

  • Fantasia + Tchaikovsky = Best

  • omg i love this part mw and my sister would the dance all the time it was sooo fun lol shaking my head and folding my arm like that awww..... good time ..... good times :)

  • The murshrooms were always my fav in the movie. They are sooo cute XD

  • Thank god for Tchaikovsky

  • When this comes along on my ipod, i always think about the mushroomies dancing and i can't stop moving

  • Wow!! I am soooo grateful to have been exposed to such beautiful works of art at such a young age. It has made me who I am, more ways than I can imagine. :)

  • I love the little mushrooms there so cute.

  • Is it right to have a hunger for mushrooms after watching this?

  • me and my nan always used to watch this every time i came to see her. and we watched it over and over again. but when she died the video went missing. i was heart broken. i <3 my nanny :'(

  • To be honest this is one of my fabourite scenes, along with the dancing fish, mickey mouse scene and ballerina hippos with alligators.

  • kyaaa!! the little mushroom!!

  • me and my friend r obsessed wit this movie lol!!!!!!!XD

  • hahahah who loves the little mushroom the best??he doesn't have the long hat like the rest of them but he's the cutest one indeed,

  • is 15 to late to start learning the violine coz i love that kind of music

  • @catsmungrump never to late xD

  • @catsmungrump i dont think so. if you really practice alot i think you'lll get the hang of it pretty soon.

  • I love the tiny mushroom!!!

  • After watching this, I'm proud that I know a dude who helped animate and draw the little mushroom guys. Apparently the little one is named popplo or something i dont remember...

  • It is truly one of the most beautiful things i have seen

  • I wish disney would do another fantasia...we could use a classical music revival...

  • @Akiralon

Wasnt 2000 just a remake but they left the Devil scene out (Night on bald mountain)?

  • @frobinhood they also left out the banned scene, with the centaurs, which was banned in 1969 after racist complaints. if you see it, youd see why.

  • @BournemouthVEVO

Yeah i remember the Centaurs. was a huge white 1 with a small black 1 as a slave wasnt it?

its been soooo long since ive seen Fantasia. i really should try to find it on DvD the original 1 not the shitty 2000 one.

I would of been about 6 last time i saw it and im now 19 :(

  • This is racist towards mushrooms, chinese people, black people and my dog.

  • @miniroll32 you sir, are turning a non-racist piece of art into a racist piece of scum. so just stop talking. people appreciate this as art, not a raciially provoking attempt at sarcasm. just shut up and enjoy the beauty of it.

  • @BournemouthVEVO - You said racist. That is very racist.

  • no cgi, no computer, everything handpainted frame by frame, unbelievable!!!

  • the first animation will always enchant me... I remember as a child it was probably my favorite (even though i thought the fairies were a little bit rude, with their naked little butts waving around in the air)

it's so funny- i remember also feeling like the white flower in the third animation was too arrogant. But i was always very worried when they all fell off the little waterfall.

these animations (especially the "Waltz of the Flowers" one) always bring a lump in my throat now...

  • @Anglerfishpie Your comment on the full on butt nudity made me laugh for about 5 minutes!

  • So cute!

The littlest one was the model for the mushroom heartless in the kingdom hearts series.

I had no idea untill I saw this.

  • I remember watching this as a little kid... Man those were good days... And yet i've never outgrown this type of music masterpiece.

  • Of course the mushrooms look Asian! :3 <3 This is the Chinese dance from the Nutcracker, of course. One of Disney's cutest segments of all time. <33

  • @meowkie

Yup, and the littlest mushroom is the cutest of them all! :D

  • When I was little I never realized they were Asian... Somehow it seems kinda racist XD

  • I always loved the little mushroom

  • The film in stereo!

  • Not the greatest song for a ballet, but very beautiful, and well done here at this part in Fantasia... <3s

  • i love the little mushroom the most! his name is hop low. hes the only mushroom that got a name

  • as a little kid I used to try to stay up and see the faires work. The innocences of childhood.

  • omg haha when the lil mushroom shakes his butt at 2:49 !! <3

  • I didnt realize till many years later, its dew they're spreading

  • the mushrooms are adorable! i really liked watching them when i was a kid.

  • The Wonderful World of Color TV show would always use a clip from that spinning flower sequence.

  • I've always wanted to be a 'fantasia' fairy- soooo pretty :)

  • wasn't this movie originally released in black and white?

  • @FormerBokabeed No! Parts of it were shown in black-and-white in the 1950's, on Disney's TV show.

  • to think this was drawn in the 30's. Classic. Walt was a pig,but his employees did great work.

  • Huh, when I watched this as a kid, I never got that the dancing mushrooms are in fact Chinese steretypes...and that they keep changing shape for some reason! XD

Maaan good times watching these again, they should do another Fantasia, for old times sakes.

  • Oh, the imagination at work...Its amazing!

  • Aaaaww, so cute the little mushroom!

  • I never got what was so Chinese about the music at 2:36, sounds western to me lol

  • @GaryColemanism The mushroom caps are supposed to look like the wide bamboo hats that Chinese farmers wear.

  • i love u for putting this up.

  • I just can't grasp being offended by this. Especially when the portrayal is so sweet and adorable.

It and the Russian flowers are two of my absolute favorite parts.

  • 2:48 Shake it lil mushroom~!

I don't think you can call this racist, since there was Russian flowers as well, I think it's just cartoonish diversity.

  • this was always my favorite part!!! spacially the mushrooms!!! they're cute little chinese dudes!

  • So beautiful!

  • I love every part

  • disney had to be on mushrooms to create dancing chinese mushrooms

  • racism is a-ok if its in cartoon form.

  • @andimhisfriendjesus no its not "a-ok" its morally incorrect.. full stop, regardless of what 'form' its in. you should know better than that...

  • cute little mushroom C=

  • mushrooom

I want one! gimmie! hahahaha xD

  • you know that the cap of the mushroom is just the reproductive organs that produce spores, so its kind of like the mushroom's uteras.

  • @graidstin ok? lol?

that Is the weirdest comment ever xD

  • @sashathepanda Well its true the above-ground part of the mushroom is only used to create the mushroom's offspring (but not where genetic material is exchanged), so therefore somwhat like the uterus. I just thought the video would be that much more intresting if you knew that, and you might not want one quite as much, or you might want one more what do I know

  • @graidstin why are you being so weird?

I dont really care? I just want a Fantasia Mushroom!

  • Houston, I shat my pants.

  • @miniroll32 wow...

  • I don't fully understand you, but I'll reply just in case this is in context. The mushrooms are cartoons, they can represent whatever the artists intended, and saying that you can't see any visual or cultural differences between a Chinese person and a Caucasian person is ridiculous. Practicing "racial blindness" is just racial insensitivity.

However, to be fair, the mushroom dance, is for the Chinese Dance in the Nutcracker, so a racial caricature isn't coming completely out of nowhere.

  • 1) Art is Art with A capital.

    2) We all are in the same damn garden so seeds will fall in every possible direction. What a bore this world would be if we were all the same or pretend for the matter...

  • @Bottery yeah. Disney used stereotypes far less than say, Lantz. His racist reputation is not warranted or documented,

  • @ericberner it wasn't offensive back in the 1940s......consider the era of American culture.....war and racism were still on the edge of everyone's mind and tongue......little Chinese mushrooms are hardly offensive considering when this movie was made.....

  • Genious Music. Full stop.

  • A good peice of flute music on the chinese dance and Militons

  • awwhaw look at the little guy, he's so cute! ^.^

  • lol I love sugar plum fairies, and those mushrooms are so cute xD Especially that little guy :3

And then making those flowers into dancers was a great idea. Nice job Disney, this was one of my favorite movies of my childhood :3

  • I LOVE THIS!, lovethis movie and love this part. Is beautiful x3!

    THANK YOU!

  • You should worry about the government, not the people @remnock

  • mushrooms!

  • i love this peice, but i wonder, are people from china get offended by this? I know, i know, its stupid to ask

  • Chinese: 5/5 awesome

  • I always loved the little mushroomie :P

  • omg hehe the mushroom dance has always been one of my favorit parts,

  • awesome

can't believe its been almost 70 years (next year) since Fantasia was made.

  • The many joys of my childhood! I loved this!

  • wow this is so cute! all of my friends from school also liked the mushrooms! the flute and basoon is nice! A high thumbs-up!

  • I grew up watching this movie lol.

  • If you look carfully when they are switching around, the flatter mushrooms change to pointy mushrooms and vice versa. I just thought I'd share that, Its fun to look at detailed things :)

  • The mushroom dance was always my favorite part as a kid.

Although, I always thought they were angry. It didn't click until just now that they were actually Asian.

  • Haha me too! I didn't realize they were Asian until I was an adult. I never even noticed they had ponytails until a few months ago! lol : P

  • @ChaoticBakaXL Me too I always thought they were just yummy looking mushrooms I had no idea they were russian flowers and asian mushrooms

  • @ChaoticBakaXL hahaha, i always thought they couldnt see very well

  • @ChaoticBakaXL *o* it's my favorite too!!

  • @ChaoticBakaXL samee! haha

  • @ChaoticBakaXL

Same and the Pegasuses I loved too. I used to run around and try to be a mushroom XD

  • @ChaoticBakaXL as a kid I loved this one and the one with the fat hippos and the crocs

  • Whoa, I just realized the mushrooms are supposed to be Asian for the first time.

  • Love the music! I want to own the soundtrack...

  • when the flowers spin they remind me of ballerinas.... :)

  • no shit

  • omg thts like...funny, the mushrooms are like little asians!!

  • i know aren't they soo cute!! :D

  • @xXHarleyQuinXx ofcourse, because that´s the chinesse dance from the nutcracker =p♥

  • agreed.i tried it and it was awesome.

  • theeeee BEST movie to watch high ever.

    except the neverending story.

  • haha i'll have to try that

  • The Labrynth is pretty good to watch as well.

  • Shit after my 20 years of living and seeing fantasia well over 100 times this is the first time i just releazied that the Mushrooms are actually changing their sizes will they are moving

    Holy shit....lol

  • i thik if this doesn't cunjure up any feeling in one, then they have serious problems..... absolute genius, musically and visually

  • Pure magic, takes me back to my childhood when the world was a place of wonder and imagination! Love it!

  • what symphony is at 2:47?

  • It's the Chinese Dance from Nutcracker.

  • As cute as this is, the fact that the Chinese Dance is being represented by mushrooms with broad hats, slants for eyes, and prodigiously bowing is perhaps a commentary on what was acceptable cultural portrayal in yesteryear.

  • Evidently you've never seen Sunflower from the section of this film with the centaurs... though Disney has buried her but good.

  • i just saw that

  • Comment removed

  • You love Hop Low, so do I!

  • che bei ricordi...

  • I love this, absolutely brilliant

  • I totaly agree!

  • Agree's it is cute!

  • funny how so many mushrooms in fantasy, and literature appear to "gold-cap"mushrooms...the psychedelic ones. But I don't see why not, such trips can give one a glimpse into world with reality out of the picture

  • do they re-release the fantasia again?

    i'm dying to have it...

  • They did in 2000 apparantly

  • It comes out March 2010. On both Bluray and DVD as part of the Platinum series. They are re-releasing Snow White October of this year, and Beauty and the Beast October of next both on Bluray and DVD.

  • @Oblivion1313 I've been waiting for beauty and the beast and fantasia to come out again for YEARS. Thanks for the info :D

  • ah I always loved these movies! I watched them ALL THE TIME when I was little haha. these parts with the plants, and fairies, and colors were always my favorite :)

  • As for comment of the paragraphs about the video, HAHAHAHAHA NUTCRACKER NO LONGER PERFORMED...... HAHAHA. :))) I LOVE fantasia.

  • The little Mushroom is SOOO CUTE!!

  • Three cheers for Hop Low!!!

  • I know, he's so adorable and sweet, I just want to cuddle with him (or is it her? or it?)

  • LOVE IT <3.!

  • I loved this since I saw it in the theatre as a child. one of the most beautiful combinations of music and visuals. beautiful! thank you for posting.

  • The guitar orchestra I'm in at school is playing the Suite with dancers and everything this December. It's really awesome music to play.

  • Very nice!

  • i can play this song with my piano....for me it's not so complicated! i mastered it in only a week practice. im on level 2 piano, yamaha standart. but funny thing is...that i cant play canon,. that is supposed to be much easie than this song. i even not so good in playing czerny, for elementary level. what'a weird thing.... my piano teachers was v ery complicater.

  • did anyone know.....that tchaikovsky was a gay?

  • Yes. Anyone who's into his music knows that. In fact, musical scholars are pretty much in agreement that his sexual preference was partly anyway responsible for his chaotic life. It was also one of the reasons he never made it into the Group of Five in Petrograd, but remained "banished" in Moscow. Rimsky-Korsakov in particular was totally opposed to allowing a homosexual man into the Tsar's Capital. And please, no Thumbs Down. This is history!

  • How can we thumbs down your comment? You're the poster of this video.

  • @radostsguy It's ridiculous, isn't it, what a big fuss people make over sexuality. He's a brilliant composer (?), peopleshouldn'thave a problem with his being gay.

  • Aside from the trivia aspect of the comment, what point are you making in pointing that out?

  • @safhirafairy HE WAS? D:

  • @safhirafairy

    Don't u use thumb screws?? :-)

He's world class, sexual orientation has no input to greatness!

  • I love this, absolutely brilliant... &#9829 ... &#9834 ...
