There are those who say that if the nazis hadn't been so keen on ridding the world of jews, then germany would've had the bomb... Think about the origins of those, who built it ;)
@Smo1k The uranium used to make the atomic bombs by America (Fat-man and Little-boy) were captured off of a German Submarine outside Japan in May 1945.
@theHardcoreChaos Oh, where to even start. "Super tank technology", "How thick the armor of an german panzer is", "they had way better armored vehicles". Do you even have the slightest clue of what you are talking about ? Please, give me an example of "Super tank technology", and don't say the Panzer VI Ausf. E or Ausf. B, because those two were hardly any technological wonders. Oh, and just for the record; flamethrowers are more effective against tanks than you seem to think.
@RiktigaFimpen Ehm.... Actually the germans had better tanks.... They were "Super tanks" or not maybe super but they outclassed the allied tanks... I mean Panzerkampfwagen V Panther, Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I and the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf.B where much better.
@nono3711 Outclassed them how exactly ? The MAIN German tank was not the VI Ausf. E/B, but rather the PzKpfw IV. The Tigers were a minority. The M4 was more than a match for a Pz IV, the same goes for the T-34. Both Tigers suffered from severe problems, mainly because of their technological complexity. Calling them "much better tanks" is not exactly right. Now the Pz V was good, probably the best all-around tank in WW2. But saying that German tanks were superior in general is wrong.
@RiktigaFimpen Go suck a tit. The only fair argument you can make against the Germans during WW2 is they couldn't out produce 2 of the most resource wealthy countries on the planet. Their technology in GENERAL was vastly superior. You know they invented the first Battle Rifle? Stamp press baby! They used infrared sites on the Tiger 2 towards the end of the war. The end factor is . We had all of their coded messages and it still took us 5 years to beat them.
@Twiztid1888 Go suck a tit ? Wow, impressive argument there. Tiger Ausf. B's were never equipped with IR sights. That was the Panzer V. The Germans were quite advanced in optics and rocketry, but in general, they were on par with the rest of the world. Most of their tanks weren't especially good compared to other contemporary AFVs. They invented the first assault rifle, true. So what ? The Germans were good, but far from "vastly superior" as you seem to think. Start reading some books.
@RiktigaFimpen Well, Personally from what I have read. I believe they invented or at least contributed greatly to Americas Nuclear bomb. If you look into their X-ray machines used for Anti-Aircraft you'll find it is related to the cyclotron which used in the refining of Uranium. :D
@Twiztid1888 Indeed, the Germans came very close to building an actual atomic bomb. The biggest problem were that the Nazi society was built in such a way that everyone was competing against each other. Including the many different atomic study and research groups. Had they perhaps combined all their greatest minds, such as the US did, they would probably have had the bomb before the Allies.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean with "X-ray machines for Anti-Aircraft" though.
@RiktigaFimpen Things that the German inventions made of in modern day technology: First Cruise missile, First Cross-Continental Missile (Pretty much also contributing to the first space launches, e.g. Operation Paperclip), The first assault rifle (Yet, still, it had tremendous impact), The first Jet-fighter plane ever (ME 262), first (stealth) Jet-fighter (Horten HO 229), Infrared sights, one of the first computers Zuse V1, V2, V3 etc.
@MuchoFunkie 1) The uranium did not come from a German submarine, it came from Congo, Canada and the US.
2) It also depends on what model of the M4 we talk about. The M4A3 had better protection than the Ausf. H, and armed with the 76mm M1A1 gun, it was on par with it.
3) ICBM's were only paper projects, US Army also used IR sights, the Ho-229 was not a dedicated stealth fighter, the British also had computers. Just because the Germans invented some stuff doesn't make them über-human.
@RiktigaFimpen Yes ofcourse it depends on the version of the Sherman, but I was reffering to some of the earliest Sherman, as I wrote aswell, the M4 aswell as the M4A1. Nor did I say the Germans were über-human, yet one can not deny their perfectionism and excellence in science, engineering and innovativeness - (I don't know where you got the idea that I said that the German's were über-humans, please keep it polite, because that is just an accusation). Yes I know that the Americans - Contiued
@RiktigaFimpen Also wielded the IR scope's onto some of their own guns, like the M4 Carbine. Aswell, you are right that the Horten HO 229 was not directly meant to be a Stealth fighter, yet it was classified as one later on. And as to what I said about computers, yes, the British also had computers, that is why I wrote that the German's had ONE of the first computers, not independantly the first on its own.
@MuchoFunkie So what exactly is your argument then ? Why did you start listing what you did ? Sure, the Germans were leading in things such as rocketry, and was, military speaking, very good. I've never stated anything else, so I'm not sure what your argument is. I'm just fed up with people thinking they were some kind of Gods just because they "had the first IR sights", or thinking that "the Tiger II was the greatest tank ever", etc.
@RiktigaFimpen My argument is a response to your argument about the German's not being technologically superior, because they were. To deny that they weren't is juveline and inconsistent. Pretty much any kind of modern technology derives from German roots and research.
@MuchoFunkie Yes but see, your examples of "superior technology" was not really valid. Neither the NV devices, computers or jet fighters did help the Germans win their stunning early war victories. They were won by great leadership and tactics. Heck, most tanks used in the early war were obsolete and inferior to their Allied counterparts.
@RiktigaFimpen I never stated anything about that their victories were in contribution to their superior technology, stop making up your own assumptions out of my interpretation. I know that the German's won over the French, despite the French having slightly more manpower, heavily superior tanks, and more of them not to mention. I simply stated that they were superior in technology, not that they were superior in any other way, as in tactics and strategy (In late war), but simply in technology
@MuchoFunkie The first operational jet fighter was the Gloster Meteor, the ME262 was the first ME262 to see combat though. and the HO229 was predominantly designed as a bomber.
@jadger1871 Wrong, The first turbojet aircraft to fly was the Heinkel He 178 prototype of the German jet-fighter. And the Horten 229 was not directly designed as a bomber, it might look like one, but it isn't. The superb maneuverability of the Horten 229 made it a fighter
@MuchoFunkie The 178 was not a prototype for the 262, it was a totally different aircraft. And the HO 229 was a bomber, Hermann Goering only said to add autocannons as the expected top speed was so much higher than other fighters
@jadger1871 I never said that they were the same Jet-planes in any way, I'm saying that you are wrong about the first operational jet plane being the Gloster, it wasn't, the Horten 178 was. Ho 229 (often called Gotha Go 229 due to the identity of the chosen manufacturer of the aircraft) was a late–World War II prototype fighter/bomber (Source: Wikipedia), so yeah, we both have a valid point.
@MuchoFunkie The HE 178 was a prototype, it did not go operational. "Operational" in military terms means to be assigned/supplied to a combat unit, the HE178 (HE because it was Heinkel not Horton) never went beyond the prototype stage. The HE178 was only produced into two vehicles, one of which only ever flew as a glider, it never had an engine.
@jadger1871 Aye you are right in your definition, but not on your facts... Go to the wikipedia site, and look under "List of jet aircraft of World War II. It says that the Gloster was the first ALLIED operational jet-aircraft. However if you go down under the category of German, you see that the ME 262 was the WORLDS FIRST operational jet-aircraft.
@MuchoFunkie because wikipedia is always right. being such a Germanophile, you should look up the Polish September Campaign on that website. It says that Poland was never defeated in the war. And with the 262/meteor you are splitting hairs. The meteor went into production before the 262, but reached units less than a month after the 262. So, my point that the Meteor was the first production operational jet fighter still stands.
@jadger1871 What the shit dude, I'm simply stating facts, that does not make me a "Germanophile", I'm Danish nevertheless. And what does the Poland campaign having to do with any of our subsequent discussions or arguments to do? The first flight of the ME 262 was TWO years before the first flight of the Gloster, and yes, the Gloster was the first fully-produced Jet, overrunning the ME 262 by two months, but I never stated otherwise - Definitions are definitions, don't change them.
@RiktigaFimpen It depends on which version of the PzKpfw IV you talk about, the ordinary M4-Sherman was still inferior to the standard PzKpfw IV Ausf. H.

in the IIWW the germans had super tank technology.
The allied forces just won because the had other countries who helped them.
I'm not saying the germans did the right things.
But they had way better armored vehicles.
