Yo! I think you have great videos!! What editing software do you use for this camera? Can you just take the videos off the camera and edit right away or do you have to convert? Thanks a lot!!!!
I used Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 for this video. This software requires no conversion from the camera - You can just click and drag the raw files straight into the program :]
On most, if not all, of the clips, I had increased the saturation of the color, as well as the contrast. The only other thing I had done is used the Magic Bullet Tool in Sony Vegas to apply a reddish/orange tint to the footage, as can be seen in the last four scenes, creating a sunset / dusk effect. In addition, a 2.35:1 crop ratio is slapped on, completing the "cinematic look". Thanks for watching / commenting!!
@EggChops Wow. Very slick. I've been looking for test shots using this camcorder and I really think yours are really good if not the best. What are your render settings for this video (fps, format, etc.)? And another question, can you set the exposure manually? I'm getting this camcorder in 2 weeks and I would like to know your thoughts on it (from a short filmmaker's point of view). Thanks a lot mate.
Thanks very much!! The video is rendered in .WMV format at 24 (23.976 to be more specific) fps and a 6.7 mbps bitrate. Resolution is 1440 x 1080 I believe, but that's before the 2.35:1 crop ratio. But yes, you can set the exposure manually. One thing neat about this camera is that the touch-screen LCD allows you to set the exposer / focus manually (individually or together) by touching the LCD screen in the section of the video you want to become -
(continued) exposed properly or focused properly using a tool called "Spot Focus" or "Spot Meter", i think there's a demonstration video of that here on YouTube, I find it very handy :]
