Wolves are only animals; They aren't better or worse than any other living thing; they aren't vicious murderers. They kill to survive just like we do. Being a wolf freak, I find it easy to get carried away and I apologize in advance if I do. But wolves are caring and dangerous at the same time. They fight to survive every day while we fight to have them destroyed. I don't see any sense in that.

Most sportsmen like to have an equal population of wildlife (including Bambi) to hunt, yet let them thrive at the same time. @316bluethunder I wouldn't say that. Wolves are considered threatened in the lower 48 states. They are overpopulated in some areas, but I donate part of my allowance (I'm 13) to save the lives of wolves in areas where they are threatened.
Lets look on the more practical side shall we. Wolves have a purpose in the food chain. Like a weakened building removing a brick from that building could cause it to come crashing down. So in effect in many ways By helping wolves were helping or selves. Since the wolves aren't everywhere in canada, the cayotes have become a very REAL problem for cities and farming communities.
I never said that wolves should be hunted to extinction; I am merely stating that they need to be hunted in a controlled way to keep the population healthy. Would you rather have too many wolves or too many coyotes? I know which one I'd prefer. It would be near impossible to find a balance between the two, so the smarter option is to have a greater amount of coyotes. Wolves are generally a greater danger to people and livestock.

Please keep in mind that there are hunters out there who abide by the laws and respect the animal that they are hunting. It is actually necessary to hunt wolves in places because if they become overpopulated, the wolves will get horrible diseases and start to starve due to lack of prey. Governments will set quotas and many decent hunters stick to those quotas. Not all are bad!

@316bluethunder I agree. But I think both sides of the argument are taking this way too far. Wolves are only animals; They aren't better or worse than any other living thing; they aren't vicious murderers. They kill to survive just like we do. Being a wolf freak, I find it easy to get carried away and I apologize in advance if I do. But wolves are caring and dangerous at the same time. They fight to survive every day while we fight to have them destroyed. I don't see any sense in that.

@316bluethunder So the "Save the wolves" thing is what you don't like? I think that's because there are so many wolf haters. And most people don't have a problem with deer. Wolves are different. Most sportsmen like to have an equal population of wildlife (including Bambi) to hunt, yet let them thrive at the same time. Unfortunately, only a small amount want wolves to thrive as much as other animals.

@316bluethunder I wouldn't say that. Wolves are considered threatened in the lower 48 states. They are overpopulated in some areas, but I donate part of my allowance (I'm 13) to save the lives of wolves in areas where they are threatened.

Lets look on the more practical side shall we. Wolves have a purpose in the food chain. Like a weakened building removing a brick from that building could cause it to come crashing down. So in effect in many ways By helping wolves were helping or selves. Hunting is important for many animals,but when there leaning on the few side relocation is best.And On the fact animals don't have human emotions to a certain extent maybe not. But for the most part...In my opinion must disagree.

Second, the reasons that wolves feed off of livestock are there isn't enough of their natural prey to eat so they become desperate and the government introduces the wrong type of wolf into a new habitat. Finally, we do need wolves, if we allow them to become extinct then the rest of the food chain will become unstable. Do your research before you come and make comments like that

Wolves kill livestock because it is easy prey, not because there isn't enough of their natural prey (elk). There was even one case where nine wolves killed 70 sheep in one night in Idaho - more than they could possibly consume.
Wolves are NOT keystone species. Perhaps you should do your research.

And speaking in general terms, all breeds of dog are equally genetically related to wolves; Northern/sled-dog breeds are not any more related to wolves than any other breed.
It is a common misconception that huskies/malamutes/etc are considered to be close to the wolf, when in fact they aren't any closer to the wolf than a chihuahua.

Do not lie. There are plenty of recorded attacks of wolves on humans. Kenton Joel Carnegie was mauled to death by wolves in Canada. Candice Berner was also mauled and killed by wolves.
Wolves MUST be hunted otherwise they will overpopulated and die from disease or starvation.

@BluOceanBubbles true, but without the wolves (who used to kill the cayotes) cayotes have become a pest. And even thought we have tried to hunt them they come back full force. Scientist have made experiments to see what would happen if they itroduced wolves somewhere where cayotes were prolific. The cayotes's numbers receded and the population was controled. Since the wolves aren't everywhere in canada, the cayotes have become a very REAL problem for cities and farming communities.

I never said that wolves should be hunted to extinction; I am merely stating that they need to be hunted in a controlled way to keep the population healthy. Would you rather have too many wolves or too many coyotes? I know which one I'd prefer. It would be near impossible to find a balance between the two, so the smarter option is to have a greater amount of coyotes. Wolves are generally a greater danger to people and livestock.

@LionMaster09 There is a solid difference between poachers and hunters. Poaching is the illegal killing of an animal.
Please keep in mind that there are hunters out there who abide by the laws and respect the animal that they are hunting. It is actually necessary to hunt wolves in places because if they become overpopulated, the wolves will get horrible diseases and start to starve due to lack of prey. Governments will set quotas and many decent hunters stick to those quotas. Not all are bad!

I shall refer the work of David Mech, who is the best wolf biologist there is. Wolves are not essential for the presence of any other species (be that elk, bear, rabbit, etc) there they are not a keystone species - if they died out there would not be a significant impact on the food chain. I have been fighting for the wolves a long time. Those who are for the wolf are not going to change the minds of those who are against the wolf. I do love wolves but threatening to kill people because they hunt them is just as wrong. I have come across some very mean people but I have never wanted their lives taken. FACTS about Elk decline:
Deteriorating habitat in the Lolo zone has contributed to declining elk numbers since at least 1988, before wolves entered the picture. The population dropped by 40 percent during the severe winter of 1996-97 alone. Bears and cougars also kill many elk. Just across the border, Montana biologists are starting a similar collaring study in Ravalli County, where one factor of elk decline may be high human population growth.

Wolves Not Causing Most Elk Losses (Idaho F & G Aug 2010) the report showed that hunters were the biggest cause of elk kills in two other areas with declining populations: the Pioneer zone east of Ketchum, and Island Park near Rexburg. In the Island Park zone, hunters killed 17 percent of collared elk while wolves killed none

@NativePrairieWolf People(humans) are a disgusting species they hunt because its "fun" and they consider it a sport. Killing another living organism is never considered a sport it's considered murder

@BuzShare Exactly what it is, and I find it extremely disturbing there are people who actually ENJOY blasting holes in an animal, makes you wonder what kind of sick mind is behind that, no doubt one step shy from the likes of Ted Bundy- only the species differs.
Of course all the big bad azz hunters who fly in to AK and use airplanes, then display their dead animal for pics while standing with a big grin- you know they lack something of size below where it counts if you get the drift ;)
