@frequencyaffect He is realizing that the material things don't really matter to him, and when he realized what was truly important in life (love, ect), he felt happy for his friend, and wanted to reach out to someone who wasn't happy. Basically, Focus on what matters most (in his case, love/family) and spread joy. That's how I understood it.
