  • GoogleSketchup is a soft baby:)) I recommend CATIA V5, Pro / Engineer, AutoCAD:)

  • Cool Case Study, awesome, Thanks for this video.

  • very interesting and may be used in future

  • AutoCAD ftw!

  • chennai ramapuram

  • I simply love how this is simple to use, and not counter-intuitive like Solid Works!

  • SketchUp is an excellent program for what it was designed. I do not believe SU positions themselves as a CAD program. We used SP as our CAD program. SU works well with it and files are easy to move back and forth. The SU 3d libraries are fantastic and easy to move from SU to SP. We can quickly model a building, construction details, finish details, mantles, cabinets, etc..much easier and quicker than in CAD. SU allows us to focus on design, make presentations, and land jobs and it's free.

  • Sketchup is awesome - way better that "real" CAD!!!

It's advanced surfacing and parametric modeling abilities are second to none. Features like it's phenomenal variable filleting tools blow other "overpriced" CAD packages away (sarcasm if you haven't guessed already).

PLEASE! Sketchup is a great presentation tool. It is not a precision CAD system.

  • Sketchup Pro is for professionals. Good professionals by the way.

  • this nice and i work with sketchup ....... but this is not for professional

  • autocad is crap , sketchup its better for 3D models , sketchup is for gods, and autocad for simple mortals hahaahaha

I usually use sketchup to simulate how people behave in the building and mainly to sketch my projects, sketchup is for real designers, and AutoCAD for drafters

  • They must have changed this software significantly over the past couple of years. I did some work with it in University and for quick draft mock-ups I find AutoCAD to be far superior and more accurate.

That was the free version, however, and was a few years ago... perhaps this is worth a second look?

  • Yeah, I would really really really liked to have heard how using Sketch Pro was BETTER than using AutoCad. Most of the 'amazing' features have been available for 15+ years in various forms...so why is Sketch worth the time and investment?

  • informative video. Interesting to see how the 3D model can be so useful. Agree with UK2AK re the guy chewing gum... dumb.

  • Great video. I had no idea Sketchup Pro was this big time.

You know though, if it were me, I wouldn't have included the clips of the guy chewing his gum like a cow chewing cud though, but hey, he's the one who looks dumb, not Google or Mortenson.

At any rate, this was a smart video. It definitely sold me that Sketchup Pro is big league.

  • nice

  • great keep up the good work!

  • I use sketchup from time to time. Is Mortenson Construction a real company? I can't imagine they would use sketchup

  • mortenson . com

  • Yes I agree.

Okey sketchup is a good program but for amateurs not for professionals!

  • Remember that this is the Pro version, not the free one. The Pro can be used together with AutoCAD and other programs aswell.

  • that animation must have taken months to do: adding pictures for every individual object, adjusting speed. i mean sketchup is an awesome program, but I find it a tad cumbersome to use in some respects.

  • This is COOL

  • Ja, Itchen good times in. Deutchland

  • So what.

  • cool

  • wutwut

  • early comment.

  • sweet

  • nice
