Those airframes have ejector seats and crews of 1-2. When an Osprey crashes, it takes the crew and a platoon of Marines with it. Such casualties cannot be written off as "all experimental planes crash."

The V-22 is the test bed model, MV is the variant for the Marine Corps, and the CV is the variant for the Air Force.
