as weird as Sega was back in the day, and catchy as any sonic song...i miss when sonic was relevant =/ Now all they have doing music for sonic is some auto-tuned electro-pop bull shit
I always thought the 'Fay Wray's King Kong' comparison (at 1:24) was fairly ironic in a song about Sega's Sonic - you'd expect that kind of reference in a song about Nintendo's Donkey Kong.
Anyway, this music video was great.
The ending really foreshadowed what happened to Right Said Fred after 'Sex and Travel'...
"As we usher in the new, it's time to bury the *very* boring". (at 3:26)
I feel so old now.I was weaned on playing Shinobi, Sonic and Super Monaco GP...
Actually, he was named on technicality, the girl at the end said:"He's a flippin' Hedgehog, man!"
And does it seem odd to you that a fat guy with a red stripe and dark glasses was chasing "Sonic" through-out the video? I'm thinking tribute to Dr. Eggman.
There's no "American accent". There are dozens of regions in the US with unique dialects and speech patterns, so there is no set accent for Americans.
You probably meant worst ENGLISH accent ever... which wouldn't be true either, because they ARE actually from England. The opening and closing scenes are obviously satire.
I agree with the tribute thing even though I prefer the name Robotnik over Eggman. I also think that the skinny little guy following him could be Snively (Robotnik's nephew for those of you who don't know). I mean, he only showed up in the Sonic comics and in Sonic SATAM, but still he was used and abused too, though much more then in this video.
Oh! And Sonic's name was said. At 2:36 he says, "Z-z-z-zoom Sonic... boom." Just thought I'd let you know.
This was from around the time SEGA was doing the "Pirate" ads. That skull and crossbones character you see at the start and end was kinda the UK ad mascot
"Apparently they're the "Too Sexy For My Shirt" guys. And apparently, back in 1994, Sega let them use Sonic prominently in their music video"
I think it's actually Sega that asked RSF to be in the music video. The fat guy with the microphone was the star of Sega UK's commercials at the time, and the skull appeared in the adverts too.
It's also not THAT weird that Right Said Fred were in it, back then they were pretty famous in Britain with a string of big hits.
I agree I was going to get a download of this but the album version sounds rubbish. However I used to have Now 27 and this version was on that (typically I dont have it now)
"an ithy scratch you'll get it again" ?? i don't get it, still catchy though. i wonder when that site is coming back up, he he'd get the hard drive on monday and it is now past the NEXT monday... oh well, i'll just have to watch this til it comes back
Sonic is still cool you dont see master chief getting songs made about him(yeah i went there)

Sega, please, oh PLEASE put this on the next Sonic compilation!
At first I thought "The same guys who did I'm Too Sexy did a song about SONIC? And an OFFICIAL one at that?" But after hearing it, I LOVE IT!
@Sonicthehedgehog765: It could be Metal Sonic, right?

Mario maybe had an acapella band do his music. Who does Sonic have? None other than the guys who did "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt."
Sonic was so awesome back in the 90's.

...shocking. I think both parties should be ashamed. Right Said Fred for making the song and Sega for letting them release it.

Actually I think the fat guy was Sega's UK spokesperson back then.
Rexco33 2 years ago 4
(snickers) one: ilike eather Ivo Robotnic or Eggman myself. two: Think their spokesman purposefully looked like Eggman?
(Robotnic at the time, but he was accually falsely named Ivo Robotnic in the guides but Eggman in the games, the comics went off of the guide)

You can view the lyrics on Sonic Retro (I'd post a URL but YouTube won't let me). Just do a search with the song's name.

The phrase "to be this good" was Sega UK's ad slogan at the time, so that's yet another reference.
