  • puts a big smile on my face!

  • Grande momento di Musica e parole all'alba del Rap...quando era ancora Divertimento....St***

  • Oh yes thanks for posting, I just come across in time for dear MLK and African Heritage months, wow you know this chune took a year to complete, coz Steve put Gary B in LA to just work this tune, in Paul Robesons house..

  • I've never liked Rap and the more modern stuff even makes me dislike it more, however this is a classic in any musical genre. Fantastic lyric, great beat and Stevie's vocals complement the rap brilliantlly.

  • Hadn't heard this song for a while, bought it when it came out way back when... still love it and it was nice to revist. Thanks for putting it up.

  • Just as FRESH as when it was released in '83. Glad I still have the 12 inch. Aside from Gary and Stevie, don't forget about Lady T leading the chorus. Priceless.

  • How splendid to hear this again. Seriously joyous just in time for Dr. King's 2010 birthday! YESSS!

  • Pay attention to the lyrics....and that was back in '83!

  • @bkafele The producers knew the lyrics were not that bad, cuz they printed it on the backside of the 12" :)

  • In other words, I am saying that the lyrics are both awesome and profound. I am and have been a huge fan of Imhotep Gary Byrd for the past 26 years.

  • Great Posting...Stevie Wonder's vocal 'phrasing' in this is just unbelievable...a true master..and I bet he did it in just one take?

    Today's 'X-Factor' generation...Take Note!

  • the meaning of this song shouldn't be underestimated!!!!!

  • super song

  • Thanks! I've been looking all over for this one!

  • Never heard about gary bird before.. but i love stevie....

and this song is great, sounds so FUNKY¡

  • @olanchazul Hi - Gary Byrd used to have radio show back in late seventies early eighties in new york and used to rap over beats always telling very deep and true stories . Also narrated ( in rap ) BBC1s Arena a hip hop history back in 84 . Loved this tune and still do to this day .

  • so glad to find this ,takes us back to our dance days!!!!fantastic=++++++

  • Classic Tune, with all the words on the back of the 12" if i remember correctly

  • GRACIAS

  • Damn I been looking for this for almost 20 years.

  • Yeah, blessed YouTube. Check out Rapper's Delight, also on Youtube. I think this is classified as Hip hop, as is Rapper's Delight. Of course, the rappers today will chastise this kind of stuff because they don't talk about killing people but I think it is great.

  • OMG I love this song. I have tried for years to find this in 2nd hand record shops but I have been told it is rare. Thanks for posting this!! GREAT STUFF!

  • Just awesome......possibly the best rap song ever, it's just so sophisticated and cool. Brilliant!

  • thank you so much

  • I come to tears everytime I hear this song, such a classic. So much truth in this song!!!!

  • not heard this songs in years bought it when it came out .... and stevie can do no wrong..... great to hear it again and again and again.............

  • stevies vocals on here are fantastic!

  • great song. this is rap.

  • This one on the beat of Chic - Good Times is much better than the Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight!!! Which one was there first???

  • Very good question my friend. There's definitely a Nile Rogers influence here!

  • forgot how good this track is, great lyrics and a good vibe.

  • Now this is a quality rap song and listen he aint shot any one stabbed any one done a drive by killing sold drugs or slapped his bitch up like all the modern rappers have to do. This is when rap music had a happy feel good angle to it in the best years for music the 80's. Great years great fun great music and i miss them so bad. Thanks for posting this. RIP Michael Jackson.

  • Autorecoveryuk - couldn't have put it any better, I bow to you!

  • @AUTORECOVERYUK You are spot on Dude. This was one of the first tunes that used rap that went mainstream. It wasn't offensive or contained lyrics about crime gangs murder or grug warfare as it is now. This is RAP in its purest form intended for everyone not just boyz from the hood.

  • @AUTORECOVERYUK I wholeheartedly agree with you. The 80's were the best for music!!! When rap didn't always have to glorify murder or slackness. Love this song, haven't heard it for years!!!

  • I got the lp of this i copied it to mp3

  • Hey Folks - 2 hours ago the news of M.J. sudden death hit me like a hammer. Can´´t believe, that the king of pop and one of my idols of the best decade of my life is gone forever :-( I´m so sad !!! R.I.P. Michael Jackson !! Wish you to find your freedom ! colabeu /germany june 26th 2009

  • Paedophile bastard!!

  • These lyrics are deeper than you think.

    Classic joint though.

  • God bless for uploading. I have been looking for this song. Reminds me of my youth.

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

  • The best dance classic. They should release it again. Here in Holland it's forgotten. They never play it on the radio.

  • We all wear the Crown Tune??

  • This record dropped way too much science and way far before its time. I remember this song well. Loved it. It's a shame G.B. is never talked about in hip hop circles. Maybe because he was so true blue and intellectual the current croud didn't fully dig him? Oh well, never the less....Pure science dropper.

  • i just love this song, my favourite part oft this song is Stevie wonder's entrance, his voice is just incredible

  • que saudades que eu tinha disso!!!!!!

  • This song should be played again over th airways. And since this is Black History Month, it definitely should be played.

  • I thought that this was Donald Byrd, not Gary Byrd, Doh! apologies. Anyhow, this is one of my favourites from the days of white pencil skirts and stilettos and plenty of hairspray. Gringe!

  • total classic. brings me back to my youth. proper soul/rap!

  • I hadn't heard this tune until one Friday evening not so long ago. I rushed home and Googled the lyrics and came straight on here to find it - thanks for posting SUCH a great tune with a capital CH!
