You know the trouble with you? You don't know the difference between right or wrong and I don't think you never will. Maybe I won't but I don't want anybody to teach me ither.
This is, when I was 18 years of age, a film that made me realise I was a human being contributing to society, albeit in a disproportunate way, I was not really reaping the rewards of my endeavours, but it made me aware that I existed, that I mattered, I was a part of the whole, a big part of the whole, in fact the biggest part of the whole, without me and my workmates keeping at it the whole system would collapse, the so called 'Kitchen Sink' cinema, we lived it for real, not on celluloid .
@jocksmen yes mate i used to booze in that pub about five years ago,im a radford lad and its a bloody shame that they cannot save the pub just like the raleigh works, just a memory for a few,tis a great film
can anyone tell me where to find the song that plays on this trailer and frequently throughout the film? i know its by johnny dankworth, but i dont know where to find it :/
can someone tell me the song that is played on this trailer and frequently throught the film, i know its by johnny dankworth, but i dont know where to find it :/
It is an excellent movie, very gritty, but the book is even better...but the actress who played his married lover was attrocious on accents! She was all over the show, lol
I've read Sillitoe's novel countless times & I can't wait to see the film. I have to find it somewhere. I hope it's true to the book but from this it looks accurate.
@GanEdenAustralia - Nottingham actually, which doubled for Manchester in Control, so I suppose it's understandable to say that. Sorry for being a pedantic correcting net-knob, just a proud Nottnum lad, Manchester can get it's own cinema gem
I absolutely love this film, It was made the year I was born,
I still treasure the copy I got from my Wife who works in the local motorway service station, when a few years ago one of the Sunday broadsheets was giving them away free with the supplement.
Born and raised in Nottingham, and have yet to see this film!! Just wondering if there's anywhere to watch it on the internet, seeing as it's probably fallen out of copyright being 50 years old.
yes phplane, we did that as well, my grandma and grandad was on the goose fair,i used to get a doll every year cus my birthday is in October,it was one of them with big frilly frock, and when they finished, me and my sister used to go and stay in thier caravan, they had two big elsations. i miss that now.
Now see here 'Monkeysruleforever', is there any need to swear I ask you? Although you're a working class angry young man, must you blight the Queens English. Oh you little tyke you. Next time, try not to fucking swear.
I just took a look at this video because I saw a blue plaque on the house opposite mine in Llanelli, Wales, uk. saying Racel Roberts was born there. For those like me who dont know Ms Roberts she is the lead acress in Saturday night and Sunday morning, amongst others. Well there you go... my internet squiz for the day!!
This film made a huge impression on me when I first saw it in the late 70s. Albert Finney was/is a magnificent actor. This was a landmark in British cinema and the start of the so-called 'kitchen sink dramas' of the 60s with gritty working class storylines. The film 'A kind of loving' with Alan Bates was a similar type of film.
It's out of print now. If you can get hold of one of the original reprints released by the BFI on DVD, you'll have to fork out £20 at least.
Best thing to do is if you've got a multi-region DVD player, to go on Amazon and buy the region 1 version. Or, go on eBay and buy the free DVD that was given away in the Sunday Telegraph. There are usually quite a few on there going for a fiver or so because people have cottoned on that it's out of print.
Sorry, But "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not!" MORRISSEY. Arctic Monkeys like Morrissey. They call that first album the same as a tribute to Morrissey.
