Long live to gypsy music all over balkans. The connecting music of our territory ( BALKANIA ), Serbs, Romanians, Bulgarians, Albanians, Turks and Greeks, always under a common imperors ( Alexander, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans ). Always we are sharing the same sun, air, civilization, customs, habits, cuisine, dances, music and music instruments with the utility of nomads gypsies !!!
He's an good performer I guess. I'm Turkish and I lived in a neighbourhood in Izmir with lots of gypsy neighbours for a few years and I'm sorry Ozgen but those kids dance better than this. Much much better. It was amazing to see how naturally they could suddenly move with the rythm while casually walking down the street. And their movements were not this soft. It was with great precision. So yeah, I prefer the street version.
@barisms Post up some video I'd love to see this! It's so hard to find good videos of real dancers even though there are whole countries full of them, and I guess nobody's shooting video there because it's just normal where they are.
Ozgan is a great performer & holds the stage. I love his shows & his work shops. So to those that didn,t enjoy never mind don,t watch again. I will be enjoying my workshops in Oct. YYYYYAAAAAHHOOOOOO
@jayaor haha grasias al fin alguien ke se dio kuenta ke este se;or esta loko o es del otro lado del equipo pero d todos modos ni las gitanas bailan asi! esta loko
Its not hard dance just need practice. Go to Turkish if you like the culture. Instead of United States, Turkey really has all the cultures around and in the country. Its the centre point in Europe for next hundred years. ISTANBUL is the capital of Europe. Visit it once
this is really cool! as much as i do enjoy it, it also amuses me in another way because, deep in my heart, i'm thinking i'm watching a dancing pirate. but thumbs on it
Omg this is so damned hot. I love the way this man expresses himself in dance. I am Romany Gypsy myself and have always been drawn toward the other side of the world.( I live in the states actually now ) I have wanted to learn how to dance this way my whole life!
Anyway, back to Ozgen... I saw him perform this dance last night in Salisbury in the south of England and it was a complete privilege. He's also a really nice person, and boogied with us student bellydancers for hours after his performance!
It was organised by Wessex Arabic Dance Association, of which I am a founder committee member. We invited Ozgen to do some workshops for us, and then perform in the evening at our Grand Hafla. He was a complete triumph, and a lovely person too.
..From Greece the romanies seperated and reached every european country.
European romani groups are the Sinti in Germany the Manush in France the Gitanos in Espania the Calderasha in romania...but their worldwide name is Romani male: Rom female: Romni.....oriental romani groups are the Domari in Israel or Iran Irak ...The Khurbati are also a Romani group in the orient...
There are still groups of the roma which stayed in India like the Banjaras...
Romani is another human as a roman but many people dont know that Roman are people from Romania and are latins like italian spanish people and Romani come from India Rajasthan but they started their journey thousand years ago and seperated from another
They travelled through persia turkey the roman empire and reached greece a few hundred years ago.The greece thought they were egyptians thats why they called them gipsy
wtf r u talking there? u wanna say that thee romas are form romania? and since where are they latins? The name hey have "Romani" doesn't have anything to do with the roman empire. They come in deed from India but they don't have a country. What unites then to a "civilization" is their culture and newly the language.
These turks who tell they are hundred percent turkish mostly are bozkurts...bozkurts are the same like nazis in germany...if you tell them that today the turkish people are mixed they would get angry..similiar to the german nazi people who tell everybody they are aryan
I think too many turks are romani descendants too but turks dont like to think about this..Many turks look like gipsy..if they were hundred percent turkish they would look like mongols..özbeks kazars turkmen and in russia the tatar are 100 % turkish but the turkey turks have been mixed with arabs gipsys kaukasian slawic and so on
for your understanding gipsy and romani are total diferit,i am a roman and trkey are not from romania soo don't say something about a country if you don't now what is it in that country
What Boogey is trying to say is that there is a difference between:
-the Roma people (gypsies; they come from India, they traveled the world for thousands of years and they don't have a country of their own)
AND
-the Romanians (inhabitants of Romania, Latin country like Italy, Spain, Portugal etc.; actually Romania is the only Latin country in Eastern Europe, with the only Latin language in the area).
I saw Ozgen last year at a Hafla in England. He did this exact same dance. Very, very good and a really lovely person. He is coming back in October to do a bellydance workshop.....can't wait!
They are in the UK too, we have been here 500 years and we are still treated like pariahs. Mind you, if one of our boys started dancing like this it would not be encouraged, our men are not like this.
Does anyone know what the words to this song? and what its all about, lovely to do the gestures, but would hate to do them at the wrong time, any idea???
Ghawazi are not Gypsy as in a Rromani people. The only way they are Gypsy is through the original meaning of the word Egyptian. I was under the understanding that the Rom were displaced from North India by the Muslims back around the 10th century, and that they wandered into Byzantium and Turkey, and then moved on from there?
How often do you find a true Rromano / Rromani belly dancer?? It all looks a bit middle eastern to me. How non-Romani (Gahjeh) people try to tie this is with Romani heritage amazes me... Why do you do it ????!!!
Try looking up info on "Roman Havasi" and the dancers of Istanbul's centuries-old Rrom "Sulukule" district. It might make a few things clear to you...While you're at it try looking up Egyptian Ghawazi dancers. There's Middle Eastern "Gypsy" dance for you. The Romani got around, you know
