You can't love everyone, for that's not how humans work, and that's not how love works. Loving someone is feeling that they are your favorite person. Loving a group is feeling that the group is your favorite group. You can't have everyone as your favorite.

I can see why you are so lonely. By your definition of love, one can only love one person, or one "group" (vague).
How could you love your family, your girlfriend, and my long-time friend? Who's your favorite? One of them has to be. You don't actually love the others.

His only point is that you can't love all people. His statements as a whole support his claim, even if he didn't put it together very well. What you are responding to is his first claim, the "favorite person". However, he then says "favorite group". All this only implies to me that you cannot love everyone. And while I don't know why this is an important claim to make, I agree that it's not possible to love all people, as it's not even possible to be acquainted with all people.
