That may be partly true but it was ultimately him realizing that this wasn't just going to go away. That's not so much forcing an apology as it is just him coming to a reality that he needs to make an apology or get used to flaming and negative criticism that is only going to get worse and worse.

He showed more maturity in this than 99% of the adults like an iJustine or Onision do when they mess up on YouTube. I personally think that's astonishing.

Please don't talk down to me. What you could have done was explain your side to him and his followers without being aggressive, or so I'd advise. It takes longer, but I find the results are more long lasting. If they hadn't all closed their accounts, you could talk to some of the people I've dealt with in the past using those methods, and they'd probably speak of a resounding victory on my part and the part of my friends.
