  • What a wonderful piece of work. Would you like to do the same to my 77' F250 CrewCab? please?

  • Same engine we had in our M551 light tank, I replaced 7 of them my 1st 4 months in the army.

  • That seme to fit right in. did you have to cut the firewall at all?

  • Can you make a video explaining the modifications that you had to make to install that engine in this truck? I am thinking about a similar project and I am curious to see what it takes to do it or if it would just be better to put a 453T in my truck.

  • Big enough air filter?

  • cant imagine the shoehorn you needed for that getup.

  • Where is the steering column?

  • Mrspoon223... C'mon man, take a wild guess.

  • i bet this would have some punch, if not some wheel spin@speed!

  • did this come like this from the factory or did you drop in this wicked power plant yourselves?

  • What kind of fuel milage do you get?

  • WICKED !!!!!

  • I bet that's a mess to work on. All the piping for the turbo is in the way

  • whats power out put of the 6

  • I had a 79 chevy 3/4 ton and that's what I wanted to do to it but when I took the bed off the frame had so many holes in it I scraped it. I want to kick my self in the ass now! LOL

  • How in the hell did u fit such a monstrous diesel in that truck? How many hours did it take to drop the motor in?

  • those old fords have alot of room under the hood

  • A guy here on YouTube I think "DodgeDetroit" has a few videos of a Dodge monster truck with a **6V-92** in it. Check it out it's awesome.

  • SeagraveRules.......are you referring to the

"flyingbaker" from over there in Europe ???.......either Holland or Sweden

    ....can't remember where...for sure.

  • thats some dude from Holland. he also has a White Freightiner cab over with a 12v-71

  • Hows many MPG?

  • My guess that is is probably around 15-17 mpg maybe.

  • idle is not quite there yet but like you said, adjust the idle buffersrew and it should run a-okay...must be sweet to have one of these in a pickup, pretty descent power and fuel economy. nice truck!

  • what is the MPG and would you sell it thanks

  • this would be my dream truck if it were a crew cab with 8 food bed from arounf the same year!

  • my vid is of a detroit diesel 8.2L fuel sipper running. thanks 4 your vids.

  • 萌え☆

  • looks like it would be a close fit between the turbo and hood, when the hood is closed. do you have trouble keeping paint on the hood, because of the heat?

  • Man you got too much time on your hands. Neat conversion, looks like it's wall to wall motor, bitch to work on?

  • wow what an awesome rig, i LOVE the sound of those detroits. :)

  • them detroits are so great at 2000rpm they sound like they are about to explode!! AHH such a nice sound

  • the 6v71 and 6v92 would be too long to fit in their without major modifications

  • Sweet check out my 62' F250 with a 6.0 Powerstroke.

  • Absolutely no question about it. That engine came out of an old American LaFrance fire truck. The red color is the dead giveaway. There is another YouTube video of some guy running his 1975 ALF pump and he shows the engine (a 6-71 in this case) and it's painted exactly the same; one spray-painted coat of red across the top of the engine. At one time there must have been THOUSANDS of 6V-53-powered fire trucks.

  • i love it! one day i'd like to do this. are the 6v71's and 6v92 much larger?, so much so that they would not fit? also why not change out the rear end to get lower revs? would it make first to tall?

  • Just a thought; maybe cut a hole in the driver's side of the hood to allow the air intake to be better exposed to the air.

  • wow. it looks like it fitted very nicely. cutting the fender wells is not required. amazing!

  • I notice the engine is painted red. Was that out of a firetruck? Thats the only place Ive seen Detroit's painted like that

  • Yes it was out of a fire engine. It came out of a mod 60's firetruck that was repowered in the late 70's/early 80's. We purchased the engine over 7 years ago, so some of th details have faded with our memories!!!!!!

  • If this was PA this may have come out of our old '59 Seagrave, which was repowered in 1983, but I heard IT'S 6V-53T went into some guy's boat. It only had something like 15k on it when the rig was finally retired.

  • Actually the 6V-53T in the old seagrave was painted typical Detroit Blue/Gray so your engine wouldn't have come from it. It most likely came out of an American LaFrance, since I noticed on other videos that Detroits in ALF's are painted red.

  • I notice the engine is all red. Is it out of a firetruck? Thats the only place I have seen them painted like that.

  • Actually all the old two-cycle Detroits we had were pretty much maintenance-free, as long as you keep up with changing the oil, filters, etc.

  • How hard was it to put that detroit in there?

  • Very cool, but it sure looks like a whore to work on.

  • Actually, not really all that bad, everything is pretty accessible! The only thing we have had to do to it in 7 years of running it is screw some new ether cans on and change the batteries. We ran the rack and put a couple of reman injectors in it when we first put it together, other than that, it always starts and runs when needed!

  • What do you mean "screw on new ether cans"? Is that their solution to glow plugs? I've been reading up on detroit diesels and would like to put a 353 in my old s10. The 2.8 v6 locked up and right now it's just sitting.
