  • You're running the motor too dry.

  • Set your cold start at 11.0 - 11.2 on initial start up, for every 10 degree of warm up, elevate you afr to .2 to .4 increments. Once you have fully warm motor your afr's should be about 12.8 to 13.0. If you motor is ported or not.

  • 14.7 is a perfect A/F ratio.

    You'll notice a significant loss in power when it's below 13.8 and when it's above 15.6.

    If you can keep it between thoes 2 numbers you'll be running fine with no damage to any engine components.

    But get it as close as you can to 14.7, the closer the more efficiently you'll be using your fuel.
