On 7/28/11, it was revealed that the scientist behind the polar-bears-are-in-trouble research is being investigated for “scientific misconduct”. Then, a new study of NASA data revealed that the earth is actually allowing more heat to escape the planet than previously thought by the climate change community. During a speech at the Aspen Institute in Colorado, Al Gore launched into a vulgar tirade while accusing skeptics of media manipulation.
There is a quick simple solution to global warming and climate change. It is called Muon Catalysed Fusion. As worked on Star Scientific. NO CO2. NO Greenhouse Gases. NO Toxic Waste. The source is dueterium from the World's Oceans - virtually limitless. It is cheap to produce. WE NEED IT NOW. See the website "Star Scientific Limited", Blog "The Big Picture by Andrew Horvath", Youtube video - "In the Footsteps of Fusion"
climate change is taken out of proportion. Things like this always happen natural and always will. nature shall correct itself. and why dont we pay more attention to the big money organization trying to take over the world. I think a very important point that should be noted is that minimizing travel & other major energy sources will only slow down GCC, and won't stop it.
We set up a website where people sign up and post their daily energy usage. There's a leaderboard (a social leaderboard which shows how much they need to change to beat their friends), a points system, a leveling system, a quest system etc.
This is a good example of using sillyness (i.e. games)
A game by Jane McGonigal which put players in the time of a theoretical future where our oil resources have run out. Each day, players post their consumption of energy and users get points and progress. At face, this is a bunch of people pretending to be in a resourceless world... but really, it's tons of people reducing their energy consumption because a game told them to.
I think we definitely need to turn it into a game. I'll post my idea in the next post...
I just want to draw the point that calling someone who disagrees with your views a "denier" is a very deconstructive and kind of childish way to try to have a discussion with someone, the only other time you hear someone use the word denier is when talking about holocaust deniers, which is very very different from someone who has other views on a scientific topic from yours.
Sorry, it's just when you used the term "climate change deniers" it really irked me.
I think we should make silly subtle changes in our daily lives, but humans are not caring, lazy, ignorant and selfish people and we need laws in order for people to take this seriously. Organizations, events, turning the water off when you brush your teeth, stuff like that.
I think that it's weird that you're looking at it as "people who believe climate change is real and want to change it" and "people who deny climate change". I mean, what about the people who just simply don't care? Anyone who believes climate change is "our fault" is frankly, kind of stupid, or at least uneducated. Did we speed up climate change? Quite possibly. But this is just the natural course of the earth. It's cyclical. I'm going to die anyways, I'm going to drive what I want.
Living in southwest Virginia with a whole lot of ignorant people, I really do not think that we can reach a consensus. They are much too stuck up and stupid to realize what's going on.
I honestly feel that global warming is out of our control and even if it we did cause it, we can't fix it. It's to late. It's gonna happen. Though, I would really love someone to prove me wrong, and if we found a solution, I'd be right there with it.
the governments should start doing something for the climate, then the people will follow. just like a baby wont eat vegetables when you as a parent dont
This is the old Dan brown. This is the good Dan brown. This is the Dan brown that doesn't endlessly talk about revision 3 or sponsors and he doesn't care about video quality. this is the Dan brown that doesn't take down his popular videos and actually get's the community involved, In this video this is the best I have seen Dan in a while and I want him back like this.
Legislation is just crystallized legal violence. So yes, it is better to change mind and culture and then business will follow. In the long run you have to determine the overall goal of humanity. Consume all the earth resources and die ? Or is there a survival option that is viable for like a million years ?
We don't need to do educate and convince of the truth. We simply have to make green energy cheaper and easier than 'regular' energy. People (and especially businesses) will switch regardless of the necessity then.
To those who deny climate change in the comments, you have experienced it. We aren't just talking about higher or lower temperatures. There has been an increase in storm activity around the world, and the severity of those storms has also increased. If you haven't seen that, then you aren't looking hard enough. I pity those who live in their own ignorant little world denying anything is happening until it is too late.
Changes in legislation do not come before changes in public attitude. If you want to inspire change, you cannot short-circuit the system by legislating your ideas.
If you're all freaking out so much about you're children's future with the current debt crisis, consider realizing that the climate crisis is infinity worse, and get serious about the future of your children and grandchildren.
Only in America you will find such a huge portion of the population being completely dis-informed and under-educated on the vast scientific con-sen-sus of human climate destabilization.
Just by reading the comments on this video, the worlds already doomed... people are to ignorant to realize the facts and start taking action. By the time we're able to convince them what's happening is real IF that's even possible it will be too late to make a differences. I'm just glad I probably won't be around to see it happen
Nice. Violate people's rights. Take away their right to drive whatever car they want, force them to live their lives like the government wants them to live their lives.
Typical liberal crap. I want to live my life like I want, not how you want so you can "fix" a bullshit theory.
Your leader, Al Gore, emits more as he flies around the nation in his private jet than thousands of regular citizens combined do. Wake up and smell the roses. You're being duped. Al Gore is making so much off of u.
@BreakingEggs Even Von Hayek, the father of modern libertarianism, agreed that people's rights are to be limited where necessary for protecting the rights of others.
What huge hypocrisy it is, to claim that people have rights, and therefore let them be 'free' to be irresponsible a**holes that contribute to the destruction of future generation's lives.
I believe that the climate is rising but not due to people. The fact that an ice age passed not to long ago, the earth is bound to warm up. this warming period is not gonna be sever or anything, so not much to worry about. Sure the water level will rise but it will also retract as with the next ice age!
@antontonybekker Obviousely climate change is a natural phenomenon, but there's no denying that humans are enhancing the change. Where temperatures should've stagnated by now, they're still rising exponentially.
@Gyroglle The last ice ended at 13000BC and it has been 15011 years since then. According to predictions it will be 50000 years until the next ice age and that means this warming period will last 65011 years. We are 23% of the way to a new ice age, guessing temperatures will rise until we are around the middle of this warm period we are only influence the rate of which temperatures will rise. So we can't really do anything about the rising temperatures!
I think building a consensus is a good idea, but practically implausible. Think about the other things we have been trying to get consensus about. Equality of men and women, eliminating racism, evolution. And these are things that we have already been working on for a long time, compared to this. It won't happen soon enough to make a difference.
@mrCheapArts01 the fact is awareness of the climate crisis isnt a religion. its a people and the world are in danger. not everyone realizes that yet and they need to.
unanimious isnt going to happen until its to late the rupublicans are way to crazy now their goal is to kill everybody right now its really twisted and i can prove that
It often feels like we are all waiting for some new amazing technology to pop up and fix the world overnight. I think that keeps people from moving forward.
Dan please tell me you dont believe regulating people's choices in the name of saving the enviornment is the answer. Cap and trade is another way for government to get their hands in on this cash cow
I don't really think the issue is that there are too many "non-believers", because at this point, don't all at some level believe in the obvious climate changes?
Of course there are exceptions, and some people don't believe it, but I think that the huge majority of people who don't actively do anything about climate change are those who simply not care. Not necessarily because they are cold-hearted, but perhaps more because they aren't confronted with the issue on a daily basis.
We can't have regulations, and legislation, if we do that, we loose our own liberties we have, and where does that fine line go to in legislation? It's a slippery slope for who is in power. What would constitute is clean, and bad? Your taking away the right for people to choose. In a free environment, we wouldn't force everyone to make a choice they agree or disagree with, you have to make slow progress as society, while keeping democracy in mind. Society has to accept the changes you present.
YES. Everyone needs to admit their mistakes, comprehend with one another and sort things out. In today's society, it seems like we tend to preserve our original arguments no matter what the circumstances are. People just can't admit when they're wrong.
WE ARE ALL LOSERS - sry for the caps, but it has to be said like that.

do you agree, chemically CO2 contains a lot of heat compared to "atmosphere gass"?
answeres in next post:
HexerPsy 7 months ago
1) yes more CO2 has been released cuz of the industrialisation.
2) yes, u should know forests are being cut down for those reasons.
3) yes its heat capacity is higher than normal air. as a result you can store more energy in the atmosphere.
(perhaps this question was above your level though)
if you have any sense for reason, this is 1 factor of global warning you cannot denay.
myth busted.
