I think a very important point that should be noted is that minimizing travel & other major energy sources will only slow down GCC, and won't stop it.

We set up a website where people sign up and post their daily energy usage. There's a leaderboard (a social leaderboard which shows how much they need to change to beat their friends), a points system, a leveling system, a quest system etc.

This is a good example of using sillyness (i.e. games)

Each day, players post their consumption of energy and users get points and progress. At face, this is a bunch of people pretending to be in a resourceless world... but really, it's tons of people reducing their energy consumption because a game told them to.

I think that it's weird that you're looking at it as "people who believe climate change is real and want to change it" and "people who deny climate change". The fact that an ice age passed not to long ago, the earth is bound to warm up. this warming period is not gonna be sever or anything, so not much to worry about. According to predictions it will be 50000 years until the next ice age and that means this warming period will last 65011 years. We are 23% of the way to a new ice age, guessing temperatures will rise until we are around the middle of this warm period we are only influence the rate of which temperatures will rise. So we can't really do anything about the rising temperatures!

I think building a consensus is a good idea, but practically implausible. Think about the other things we have been trying to get consensus about. I don't really think the issue is that there are too many "non-believers", because at this point, don't all at some level believe in the obvious climate changes?

Of course there are exceptions, and some people don't believe it, but I think that the huge majority of people who don't actively do anything about climate change are those who simply not care. Not necessarily because they are cold-hearted, but perhaps more because they aren't confronted with the issue on a daily basis.

We can't have regulations, and legislation, if we do that, we loose our own liberties we have, and where does that fine line go to in legislation? It's a slippery slope for who is in power.
