there arent that many yemenite jews, 50000 came in 1951 (not 1948) my family came in 1923, I think there are about 250,000 yemeni jews today max, most in israel a few thousand in america, a few hundred(adani jews) in the UK

I think about 50-60,000 first came in 1948, there are now probably a few hundred thousand Israelis with Yemeni origins...the biggest "ethnic" groups are probably Russians, Morroccans, Iraqis and Yemenis.

yes this its true , but lats not forget that we came first before the BILU (who where only 14 if i'm not wrong and yet they are considered to be the first even though the yemenite where about 1200-2500 ppl)

Haha @ moshad2002. Where do you get your info. from man, Iran? Haha. Yes she died over 6-7yrs ago from AIDS. I loved her smile, what a beauty she was. People in Yemen loved her as much as they do anyone who does what she does, e.g. Z. Golan. She sure made her Yemeni fans proud not to mention her country, Israel.

nobody , she died out of complications coz of Aids ... how she got aids ??? god only knows .. some think her husband Doron Ashkenazi infected her , but we don't really know for sure .
Ofra was a modest and a good person . she didn't deserved this death :-( may her sole rest with god .

i agree with tahamiya, ghat cannot and should not be justified all it is simply a drug that people use to lose hold on reality, i have spent nearly two years on powerfull addictive prescription pain medication for my nerve dmamage and surgery thank g-d i dont need it anymore and I've stop taking it, I feel alive again. Drugs drive a person from reality the best thing is to stay away.

hello tahamiya , this is not me singing this is Zion Golan , a yemenite singer from Israel (the best) . it's just a song , nothing more , I don't chew qat and qat in Israel is not a plague like in Yemen , ppl chew but only at the end of the week and most of them are Yemenites and Ethiopians

my family live is pardesyia in tel aviv and when they moved there they had qat growing wild the reason is bc this was and still is a yemenite village so he goe sout side pciks and chews lol

This is so funny. If the Israeli government prohibit Qat in Israel, all Yemenite Jews will move back to their homes in Yemen :-). I just wanna know when the Yemenis will quit chewing Qat, and do something informative instead of wasting eight-ten hours a day building imaginary civilization. I'm not insulting anyone, but I'm not a fan of Qat.

It's banned in the Gulf and will soon be banned in the UK this year 2007. Sometimes qat is smuggled into the Gulf but most Yemenis would go to Yemen to see their family and have some while they're there.
