Another Coleco huh, some of us find many of something while others live in deserts. ^_^ $30 with the expansion, pretty good deal. 3D huh, do you have the glasses? Diddy Kong Racing, great game I wanna get. SM64, man that looks mint. Neat stuff, I wondered how one could neutralize rust. Looking really good Thomas, that Oscilloscope looks like it came through a time portal. :D
Hey mate, you got some really awesome pickups there :) and that scope is looking just awesome !! Can definitely appreciate the effort that goes into a restoration like that! Excellent work mate :)
@TheDamoMonster Thanks Damo! :D Fixing the outside/rust, cleaning it up and adding the new caps wasn't too bad. Just hope one of the guys I'm meeting up with has the part(s) I need.
Kinda funny hehe, I'm still a novice at electronics, but when it came to vacuum tubes, I know even less lol
@Kankki1 Thanks Kankki :) No, not really...I did restore an old VW beetle maybe 15 years ago.
lol ;) I was actually thinking about using the blue gel, but decided to keep it stock for now. I could always pick up a blue gel filter, they are really easy to swap out.
@Kankki1 Yeah the aluminum (in this case brushed aluminum) over time tarnishes and forms aluminum oxide. Unlike rust though, It's just on the very outside layer. Annodized aluminum helps as well as some aluminum rims on cars that have some kind of special clear coat.
Damn Thomas! That Oscilloscope is going to...hell what am I saying...It already looks bad ass!
I hope your able to find a replacement pretty easy if that tube is bad. Got lucky finding someone that still has the stuff to test them. All the places around here where you could get them checked out have gone out of business. :(
@BigDaddyDarth lol :) Thanks Danny! Yeah, had a tough time finding someone that still works with vacuum tubes and that can check them. Luckily I found 2 people in my area. One also has a few old oscilloscopes like mine sitting in his garage (one, I believe being the exact one I have). So crossing my fingers hehe :)
@daafies2 Thanks David :) If I remember correctly, you have a 2600? Do you have a Colecovision? When you collect for the Colecovision does it have to be boxed complete? I guess if the expansion is 100% complete in box and in great-excellent shape, probably about right. But if you're looking just to play 2600 games, you may find just the expansion for less or use your 2600 VCS.
Oscilloscope is looking fantastic Thomas. Great finds and price on that CV with Atari expansion. And wow, your NES collection looks massive from that glimpse you gave. Very nice :)
@atarileaf Thanks a lot J! Yeah, just happened to see that CV with expansion on ebay. Was thinking if it doesn't go for too much I could do an A/V mod on it, and it came with the module #1 :D
The NES collection isn't too great lol...maybe have about 275 games(no doubles)
@SPINNYFUCK LOL! thanks Spinny :) hehe cleaning up the plaque on the metal :D Give it a try, just start messing around with a soldering iron, even if it's taking components off then on again...
I'm still a novice and even more so when it comes to vacuum tubes
Wow! that oscilloscope looks freakin amazing! Really nice job on the restoration. It definitely shows you've put a lot of time and effort into it. Can't wait to see it fired up and running :) .
@RetroGameTech Thanks Martin :) Yeah, going to get the tubes checked out as well as the crt today. One guy I talked to can check most of the tubes and the other can check the crt. (I believe the crt should be ok, just starting to think it's that High volt. rectifier tube that's gone south)
Is there anything Thomas can't do? Can't wait to see the working product finished. = )

Very good job! You have previous experience restoring cars or something?
Blue gel would have looked really sharp on the screen though :) And interesting that even the aluminum had corroded.

Saw one of those coleco Atari expansions for $50 mint in box. Is that worth it?
