I have friends who profess to be big Billy Joel fans, but when they ask me what my favorite Billy Joel song is I respond with this song. They always have no idea what I'm talking about.
Holy crap...just found out this song has as much passion for me as it did when I was a sophmore in high school... I was crazy about most of Billy Joel's music from the 70s, but this album's still my favorite and this song in particular is still the ultimate Joel song for me. Man, what an achievment. Man from straight up jazz riffs (Zanzibar) to sweeping epics like this song, Billy Joel at the top of his craft. Absolutely beauiful. thanks for sharing Brother...Peace...
@thoomoo No, it was written by Billy Joel. It has a distinct sound, and certainly sounds like something that the Walker Brothers could have performed. It was, in fact, written as a tribute to the Righteous Brothers.
Killer ballad! Still sounds fresh, new & superb to this day! Not to mention powerfully sensual! Always has been my favourite, sexiest song ever written! Arranged & performed with sheer perfection. THE sexiest voice EVER! Sexiest guy EVER! A masterpiece! Thanks for posting xx
Reminds me of my homeboy Jeff LaBoy. Died of AIDS RIP my brother and thanks for being alive, passing on who you were and letting go of our friendship with class when it was time to. I told you to chill with the girls or it would be the death of you...just didn't know I was foreshadowing your fate my friend.
This monster ballad is heavier than New York City itself. Killer song. Great closing track to a rich piano/jazz rock album... The ditty 52nd Street doesn't quite count as the closer for me.
Wow I've been a billy fan my whole life and I didn't realize how unbelievable this song was until I was able to relate to it. Awesome song!

This is a great song. Not a rock song. It is a Sinatra song, actually. I don't mean it is his; it is in his style 100%.

Billy Joel's GREATEST non-single song. I'm transported to 78/79 again. Thanks Billy.
